I was charged $395 for a Big Blue filter housing installed by Aqua Clear Water System that replaced one that failed (sprang a leak). (This has nothing to do with the fact I change my own filters so any implication that it does is simply dishonest.) I later discovered that the identical filter housing also manufactured by Big Blue is available at The Home Depot for $69.95 and for $59.95 from Isopure Water. The Aqua Clear price of $395 did not include tools or other parts, nor did it include the service call fee and labor charge of $185. Despite the Aqua Clear general manager’s claim that his service fee is in the middle of the pack for Knoxville, others I called (Pipe Wrench, Hiller and Tennessee Standard Plumbing) charge between $39 and $69 and those fees are typically deducted from the bill. The Aqua Clear service technician told me that because the filter housing was just a few days out of warranty there would be no charge. Despite his good intentions, the general manager told him to charge the entire $395, pushing my bill to $580. So there was no transparent pricing and I did not agree to the charge prior to the work being performed. In fact, I was shocked that I was being charged hundreds of dollars for what is essentially a big plastic threaded cup that sells for hundreds less at other retailers. After some haggling, I was able to get the bill reduced to $480, which I think is still unreasonable. The quality of the work, especially where the technician was concerned, wasn't the issue. I have no problem paying more than is customary for high-quality work I can trust, but I do object to price gouging and deception.

This filter housing has been a great product for over 10yrs. installed in your home! We are transparent with our pricing and told you the firm price beforehand and you agreed to the pricing. The pricing you are stating in your review from other places includes ONLY the filter housing! The $395 we charged was for the filter housing, the cartridge, the fittings, tools, and a skilled, drug tested and background checked professional technician to install the product."

This was our first Aqua Clear System ! The installation was done by Brian Christian & Dustin !! Both men were very professional and explained everything they were doing thoroughly ! (sometimes a couple of times) They was always asking if we had any questions !! Dustin asked me were I wanted the faucet -on the sink- to make sure I was pleased with the placement . Brian did a Great job placing & taking care to fit everything in a compact area -so I have still room in my panty closet . Our friends Bill & Toni Ertel ( also on Chilly Spring Road) recommended this company to us . We will also be recommending your very professional company to our friends. Thank you . We moved to Knoxville last month. We immediately noticed the hardness of the water and the chlorine smell. Our previous home in Ohio had a Kinetico water softener and reverse osmosis unit. Having grown accustom to over 20 years of excellent water quality for both drinking and household use, we called Kinetico dealer Aqua Clear Water Systems. David and Robert Brewster came out to our home and assessed the water. They confirmed the hardness of the water and chlorine content. They recommended a custom configuration they have developed for our area. We had the system installed today and now have the comfort in knowing that our water is as clean as can be for drinking, showering, washing clothes, etc. The installers (Red and John) did an excellent job and explained in detail how everything worked. I would definitely recommend having them come out to your home to explain the benefits of a Kinetico system.

Very pleased. We've been living with smelly Sulphur water ever since we moved in 3 months ago. Aqua Clear sent their company President to my house for an evaluation and presentation the same day I called. A few days later, Brian and Brandon did a super job on the installation. You don't contact Aqua Clear for a cheap, discount solution; you go with them for a top notch, turn key solution backed by great service.

Sales rep was very knowledgeable and tailored the system to my needs, not just selling me their top of the line system. Installation techs explained the system in detail and how to change filters and how to add salt to the system. Water tastes sag I much better. Showers, baths and even hand washing feels so much better.

Excellent! Aqua Clear sent a sales rep right out. We were impressed with the product and the professionalism of the rep. We bought the system and they were able to install quickly. They have already been back to check on it and retest the water to ensure it was meeting expectations. We highly recommend them! The system is not cheap, hence the B rating on price, but we expect to save on appliance repairs and avoid other plumbing issues caused by the hard water, not to mention the value and savings of having filtered drinking water for our family. No more bottled water purchases!

Oh my, how did it go? John Plenner from Aqua Pure Water Systems came to the house and as I was showing him the infamous 'water room', he inquired as to the installer of the system and showed surprise at how outdated and complicated it was. He did the free water testing and basically told me chlorine and soda ash pumps weren't his forte, but that maybe his company could help us out. Meanwhile, he explained the way the Kinetico water softener system operates, how it is more in line with an updated water system and what we would have in the 'water room' if a new system would be chosen. A LOT MORE ROOM...just for starters. Let me add here that John wasn't doing a hard sell...He was allowing us to make a choice. Keep what we had...they would help as they could, or consider going down a much easier path. So I make the phone call to my husband, knowing that he would probably say, "NO!" He had just redone plumbing in the 'water room'. Known the guy for 10 years...still don't have him figured. A resounding, "YES!" TEARS OF JOY...you have no idea. Immediately a date is set for the new installation. The following week, two very nice gentlemen came to the house to remove one nightmare and put in place one honey of a water system. They were tidy...no mess after they left. Means so much to a homeowner. When they left...they left a separate spigot by my normal kitchen spigot that dispenses purified water. That meant drilling through granite (beautiful job!). They left me a water line to the refrigerator/freezer that dispenses purified water and ice cubes that are frozen purified water. Up until that point, I questioned why we even bought a fridge that dispensed water! Talk about great water! No aftertaste and beautiful to behold. Again...TEARS OF JOY! You have no idea what a relief it is, what a comfort it is, to know that when it is time to sell the house, that I can take folks into the water room and explain the beauty and simplicity of this system. And to tell them what wonderful people are at Aqua Pure Water Systems if they should ever have questions or need help with their equipment. I always wondered what it would be like to show people that awful room with ALL THAT AWFUL STUFF in it related to the water in the house that no one would want to drink or to wash their clothing. We don't have to wonder anymore...I am so proud and pleased with Aqua Pure Water Systems and would recommend them to anyone that has any type problem with their water. Thank you, Aqua Pure!!

On time arrival and very high quality installation crew. This equipment is better than my previous Hague top end system. Had to cut the hole in the granite to install the RO faucet. Ran the line to the refrigerator ice maker and in door water. Gave us a referral to a contractor that cur holes in kitchen sink and laundry room sink to install soap dispensers. Very impressed with this company and their products. <br />

We called Aqua Clear to get some information on installing a reverse osmosis system in our home. We previously had a Kinetico softener in our Michigan home for 28 years that worked flawlessly. John, the sales rep, came out to tell us about the K5 reverse osmosis system. As a courtesy, he checked our softener to see if it was working as it was supposed to. After taking several water samples and showing us the results, he determined our system was malfunctioning. <br /> John scheduled a service call to Aqua Clear to send techs to repair our system. After the system was completely rebuilt and installed, we talked to the owner David Brewster about the taste & health benefits of reverse osmosis treatment, we decided to have the K5 reverse osmosis system installed. <br /> All I can say is, Aqua Clear Systems is a great place to do business if you want better tasting water. John & all the techs we came in contact with were very polite & professional, including the lovely ladies in the office. David runs a first class company & is very involved in the whole operation. This company is very professional and really aims to please. We had procrastinated for a long time in addressing our 'nasty' water situation. They were punctual , did as they said they would, they went right to work, answered any questions, before, during and after they completed the installation. They cleaned up and were gone in the time frame promised. Not before they explained the system and how to use it and how to keep it from freezing, etc. <br /> <br />

Other than install issues, quite well. David and Krista Brewster are both very professional business owners. Their product is excellent and in general their installers are quite good, however getting the installers to understand how you want an install done seemed problematic. I wanted ALL lines installed behind new kitchen cabinets as I believed ALL equipment was going to fit in mechanical closet. Did not learn of half of equipment was going to be installed under the sink and additional lines needed to be laid INSIDE the cabinets drilling holes in cabinet sides and supply lines exposed at the back of the cabinets. There were several phone call made to the owner and his install manager by me and my finish carpenter to make doubly sure the lines were all in so cabinets could be fitted to their final positions. Installers came in early to install drain line before the cabinets went in and did a great job. They were asked then if any additional lines needed to be installed and the answer was always "no". When asked why they didn't install the filtered water lines at the same time, they said "no one told us to." As of this writing, awaiting an adjustment from David Brewster for the problem. Will update when all is done. <br />
