Arcadia Painting Plus

Don't know. Don't recall. I am only doing this review because Angie's <br /> List continually badgers me to do this review without giving me the <br /> option to say "I don't recall." So, not wanting to badmouth anyone, I <br /> gave good scores. But I frankly have no idea. <br />

Sherry was able to schedule drywall repair and painting for us in just a few days to meet our fast turnaround to allow our room to be painted for a party. We decided on colors and provided them to the local Sherwin Williams ahead of time. On painting day, the crew led by Trevor, showed up on time with supplies, paint and were very courteous. Room that was painted was large bonus room with vaulted ceilings and skylights. The room is 31? x 11?. The final paint job looks amazing with grey walls, white ceiling and slight off-white woodwork and trim. The painted areas looked good with NO signs of paint brush marks. The edges from the wall to the ceiling (gray to white boundary) was super straight, which is impressive. I asked crew to apply more paint to one area and they were happy to apply more paint at my convenience. Sherry, my main contact, was super easy to get ahold of via text or telephone and was very responsive and courteous. I left the painting crew along in my house to finish b/c I had to leave for work, and they cleaned up and closed up the house well. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and believe it was a good value given I had other competitive quotes. Most importantly, the quality of the paint job was professional?much better than if I did it or hired a handyman to paint. I definitely recommend Arcadia for painting and have asked them for a quote for additional work to drywall and paint a room in my basement.

I want to start off by saying that the final product was good and I was pleased.  But getting to that point was not as easy as I would hope.  It was difficult to get in touch with the owner.  There was frequent rescheduling.  Overall just not very professional from a business standpoint. <br /> But the work was good, and they were very helpful with suggestions and making improvements on site. <br />

This is a re-review.  Initially, all went very well.  They helped us select paint, some delay in the actual start but some of that was due to weather.  Job was done very well. <br /> About 6 months after, I found 2 spots of peeling paint and under one was some rotted wood that should have been replaced the first time through.  I called Shari and her response was we'll fix it.  It took several calls from me to get her to come out.  She said no problem but it might take some time since the summer was so busy.   <br /> I began calling her at least monthly if not every 2 weeks, getting from her false promises that its on her list and will get done.  After a half-dozen calls, I sent her an email again asking when it would be completed and never heard back from them.  This went on throughout the whole summer and fall until I just had to give up. <br /> Very frustrating, considering the rest of their work was well done. <br />

Painter arrived on time with timely call backs.  A previous painter never called us back and was difficult to schedule.  Arcadia/Sherry stepped in and helped us get our painting done in time for a June renter who loved the paint job. <br />

I had a time trying to get her out to the house to do an estimate.  It was a long time before she would type up an estimate.  Then I asked her if she would do extra work and she said yes.  But when it came to the end of the project she wanted to charge me more,  only wanted cash, and didn't have a receipt.  I noticed afterward that the job wasnt completely finished and she never came back to fix it.  Before this she had started work on my second home and then came back with a higher quote then estimated but I still wanted the work done.  She didnt end up doing the job because she never would get back to me.

I bought the service on an Angie's list promotion in June.  It was wet this summer.  Therefore, they could not fulfill the service promptly.  Once I contacted them, I understood the problem.  Once they were able to catch up, they painted the house very quickly, in 1.5 days.  I had, though, to call them to get my house numbers back.  They had removed the house numbers to keep from painting them, but I had to call to get them back.  It was an OK paint job at a great price.  <br />

The price is low in large because we used an Angie's List big deal so that really helped us save on this job.  First let me say that once the work started the team was fantastic.  They do really great work and their attention to detail is extremely high.  They show up on time and are very professional.  The work was great and we are very pleased with it.  The only negative is the scheduling and communication leading up to the work.  They are very busy and at times it was difficult to get accurate info around when our job could start.  My advice would be to use them if what you care most about is the end result.  If you need a job done fast or need very accurate info about when your job can start maybe call them but be prepared for some confusion around scheduling.  We fully plan to use them again for some interior work so you know that we were happy.  Basically if you can be flexible about start date then call them asap.  If not you should still call but know the scheduling might be a challenge. <br />

I can not say enough about Sherry and her crew. I will continue to work with them on all our projects. They worked around my schedule. Came out and did above and beyond! They worked fast and great, cleaned up after themselves. <br /> I would recommend them to anyone looking for any amount of painting. And if there is something else you need done ask them. Sherry is , by far, the best drywaller I have ever seen:) <br /> <br />

Due to wet summer we had; it has been a delay in scheduling; It is fully understandable; Sherry, the owner has been communicating with me with rescheduling and the outcome went well; The staffs were very professional. Even they came back on Sunday to finish the project.  <br /> I am happy with the outcome and will do definitely business with Arcadia Painting. Thank you <br />

Sherry is great. The weather put our schedule behind quite a bit but the wait was worth. Her crew was professional and did a quality job.

It was fine.  They originally scheduled for it in July, my husband happened to call the night before the painting and found out that they weren’t coming and no one called us.  They rescheduled us for the last week and again my husband called the Friday before and they were rude to him.  My husband stayed home they day they were supposed to show up and no one showed up, so he called and they said they couldn’t make it that day and he had already taken off from work that day.  So there was a lot of scheduling conflicts.  Once they got here, the people that showed up were fine but the communication wasn’t the greatest.  The work was fine but the inconvenience was not good. 

All went  exceptionally well with the  exception of the porch rails which  could  have been scraped better. Painters were highly professional, courteous and attentive in all other areas. <br />

<p>I contacted Arcadia Painting in mid April when I saw that the business had excellent reviews and a special Angie's List deal.  Sherry, the business owner, came out the same day that I requested an estimate.  Since my house has an exterior in excess of 1600 sq. ft., Sherry advised that she would charge me the $1299 for the Angies's list deal and charge me $1.75 per sq foot for the additional footage.  I received the estimate a few days later via email and the total project cost at this time was $3049.00.  I sent in my deposit and  requested a start date in early June.   </p> <br /> As the start date approached, I contacted Sherry to see if she was on schedule.  Sherry stated that due to the rain, she was behind and would contact me in the next week or two once she caught up on her other scheduled jobs.  I understood the delay due to the amount of rain we received in the area over the Spring.  Towards the middle of June, I again contacted Sherry to see when my project would start.  She advised that she was still trying to catch up and that she would have the power washing done right away.  The power washing was done a few days later. <br /> After some pressure by me to start the caulking and painting portion of the project, Sherry and her employees came out on July 4 to caulk the entire house. Sherry requested coming out of the holiday which I said no problem.  I appreciated them coming out of the Fourth of July, but Sherry and I had a dispute regarding the additional cost of using Quad caulk on all areas of the house and not just "as needed".  She wanted an additional $300 or $400, but we finally agreed on $200.  I didn't want to argue about it and it was a very uncomfortable situation.  Also, I wanted my front door painted and we agreed on an additional $150.00 for primer and 2 coats of paint. <br /> The following week the crew came out to start the painting process.  The painters were very nice and took pride in their jobs.  Sherry had indicated that the painting would take about a day, which I thought was impossible since my house is very big and has ceder siding.  One of the painters informed me numerous times that the ceder siding was very dry and was requiring more paint then expected.  The painting took 2 days to complete which I had predicted.  When the job was completed, I walked through the completed project and found numerous areas that needed to be touched up.  Also, another employee found several additional areas that needed to be touched up, too.    <br /> I felt the job was really rushed the last day and the workers were under a lot of pressure to get the job done and to move on to their next job . I felt the quality of the job was effected due to the haste.  After the painters left, I found two down spouts that had not been reattached to my house.  I contacted Sherry regarding this, and she came out the next morning to reattach the downspouts.  One of the downspouts was not reattached correctly again and is now making noise when it rains.  I didn't bother calling Sherry again. <br />   <br /> In my opinion, if you are in a hurry and have a hard deadline with your painting project, Arcadia is probably not the company for you.  Arcadia appears to be a very small company with one or two small crews.  Sherry did a good job at communicating with me throughout the project, which was the best part of the job.  If you do go with Aracdia, I recommend that you work out all the extras costs and options and have them specifically written into the contract before it is signed.   This will avoid some of the problems I had.  I would possibly hire Arcadia again, but would contact other companies first. <br />

Sherry rescheduled a couple of times due to rain washing out her other jobs.  Frankly, I must have called her 8-10 times with questions as we were planning the job before she came - and she ALWAYS answered, was invariably pleasant and took plenty of time to answer me.   <br /> In the long run, the rescheduling worked out better for us because my husband was home Saturday to remove storm windows and coordinate getting extra paint for the ceiling, etc.  They were actually early for the job, arriving at 7:30, bringing in a swat team of 6 workers and leaving by 2:30 after painting and filling the ceiling of the front porch (which now looks wonderful! - it was an add-on to the job), doing the outsides of 20 windows and the inside of one, about 15 corbels on the third floor, and throwing in the double Adirondack chair which my husband had been promising to repaint for at least 5-6 years (Thanks, Sherry, Jessica and Sandy!).  They just kept saying,  "Do you want us to paint that?" whenever we asked a question which resulted in adding on the ceiling of the porch and the chair while they were here.  It was very refreshing to have such nice and considerate people working on the house!  Great clean-up, too, and care with my gardens so they didn't smash any of the plantings. <br />

We used the deal for the service.  It went great.  The company was very professional and polite.  Great experience.

They arrived on time and got done more than we expected in the day. They did a pretty good job and we were happy with the overall job they did. For the most part everything was cleaned up nicely just a little tape was missed for removal. Only complaint was that it was difficult to make an appointment I had to call a couple times and send an email to get an appointment but they squeezed us in. <br />

I have very mixed feelings about the service we received. <br /> We purchased the Big Deal for exterior painting for $1,299.00.  After meeting with Sherry, we decided to schedule the job for the middle of June.  Since it was raining for large periods of time, with all of Arcdia's other jobs going on this got pushed back to the middle of July.  I wasn't in too much of a hurry at that time, so while it was annoying, it wasn't the end of the world.  <br /> Then when that date came and went, I finally had enough of the waiting and called Angie's list to request a refund.  Two days later I received a call from Sherry letting me know that she was ill and was unable to complete the job on the specified day.  She also asked if we were still interested in having the job done.  Since I hadn't lined anyone else up to do the job, to my wife's dismay, I decided to give Arcadia another shot and had them scheduled to come out on Sunday. <br /> On paint day at 8:30am we were all set with what we wanted done, after a "discussion", by 9:00am my wife decided she would like two entirely different colors on the house.  I mention this only to say that Sherry was very accommodating in switching the colors at the last minute.  The new colors required an extra coat of paint, hence the extra $400.00 from the Big Deal price to the finished price which I thought was more than reasonable.  <br /> The paint job was very good.  The painters were friendly and professional. <br /> My only two issues with them were 1) some minor paint dripped on the siding in a few places that they tried to clean off but weren't completely successful and 2) They needed a smaller brush than they had brought to finish one area and grabbed one out of my garage to use without asking first.  I didn't really need the brush, so the fact that they needed it didn't bother me.  I just wish they would have asked first. <br /> Lastly, it would have been nice to have seen Sherry even for a few minutes during the painting or immediately afterward just to check in and see how the job went, and how we felt about the job. <br /> In summary, I would say... if you're not into communication or deadlines, Arcadia can certainly do a good job painting at a good price.  If you're on a timeline, you may want to look elsewhere. <br /> To Angie's List - regarding this question "Would you use this provider in the future?" I would like a "Maybe" option. <br />

The crew did an excellent job with the painting. They were very professional and neat, and they worked quickly- they for a lot done in the time they were here. The only problem that I had was that twice I was expecting sherry to come and I did not hear from her by the night before. I had to call her to confirm and she not only was unable to come on the scheduled day, but did not remember that she was supposed to come. That being said, the guys did a super job. As long as time was not an issue, I would definitely use them. So I'd you're looking for a great deal and don't care about the timeline too much, take the Big Deal from Arcadia. <br />

Due to weather conditions firm appointment could not be set. They worked in between the raindrops. They were rained out the first time they came, and a single individual finished the job a coupleof weeks later on the day before Mothers Day. The job looks good, and generally I was pleased. <br />

Sherry and her team were excellent.  In addition to getting the exterior done, we also had them do the interior ceiling and walls, foyer walls, stairwell walls, and upstairs hallway walls.  Lines were clean, workers were friendly.  Work went quick.  Great experience. <br />

Sherry was incredibly responsive and her crew was able to schedule our job in a little over a week! Even though there was the potential of a scheduling issue, Sherry made it all work out in the end and was incredibly flexible and fair with the pricing. Sherry and her crew were very kind and professional. I will use them again. <br />
