The employees of Arches's Construction did a wonderful job on their installation of cabinets, support beam, and granite counter tops. We are very pleased with the way the counter tops look and the function and placement of the cabinets. The crew went above and beyond to make sure the trim and placement went to plan.
The electrical and plumbing contractors did a great job with the installation of the new kitchen lights and plumbing. Everything went very smooth.
We were disappointed in the subs that they used for the demo and flooring. The demo crew left the house a mess. We were warned that demolition was messy, but the crew didn't use appropriate measures to keep the dust and debris from the rest of the house. They didn't seal off the area with plastic sheeting and my wife and I had to tape down cardboard across the wood floors for the contractors. The tiling contractor did a fine job on the back splash but we are very disappointed in the quality of the floor. We marked areas for the contractor to repair but he only repaired about half of what we marked. There are areas on the floor that are uneven and are very noticeable both by feel and visually.
Overall, we were pleased with Arches' crews, but we should have been more verbal about the quality of the sub contractors's workmanship.

The positives: Beautiful wood-looking tile laid throughout great room and utility. Beautiful redesign of the original cabinetry/island. Angel worked with us to try to make our money stretch with the purchase of our granite, sink, appliances; backsplash. Removed original tile from fireplace and added stone -- beautiful. Wrap-around porch, very nice. Cons: Littery construction site; not punctual; not great on paint job; cabinets STILL need an extra coat of paint, even after Angel noticed parts that needed more paint; irrigation man was completely unreliable and did not seem to know what he was doing. He was also he fence man. Poor job, but I think he's no longer employed by them.

We met and decided on a plan to fully repaint (not touch up) the walls
and trim of the majority of the house. They gave a formal estimate for
full repainting as agreed. After the work began, I stopped by to see how
things were going. The contracted painter that was there working told
me that his instructions from Arches were to only do touch up work where
necessary. I showed him the contract, and he agreed to do a full paint
job instead. Right then, I called the company and asked for a status
update on the project, and asked to be reminded of what was being done,
and they told me it was to be a full paint job on the walls and trim.
So, they were telling me one thing, and the painter something completely
different. Later, the painter told me that Arches tried to only pay him
only for touch up work, and that he had to argue with them to get
things settled. He said he didn't think it was right to treat a
customer that way, and he ended up painting more than they paid him for.
I would highly recommend not using this company. If you do decide to
use this company, be very wary and make sure they actually do the work
they say they will do. It could have been a simple miscommunication
between the painter and the contractor, or it could have been an attempt
to charge me for a full paint job, and only pay the painter for a touch
up. I honestly don't know which it was, but I can't help but wonder
what would have happened had I not stopped by.

The quality of the work done on the job was excellent, however.

We called Arches, the sales rep. Lance Reed came right out, took all measurements necessary for vanity and cabinet. He advised he would get back with us the next day with an estimate. Was very prompt calling the next day with estimate.
He was told cabinets needed to be completed within 2 weeks, both were completed ahead of scheduled.
Lance was very professional and courteous meeting our needs and a follow up call to see that everything was satisfactory.
We would highly recommend cabinets being built by this company.

My husband and I have been trying to figure out how to remodel our tiny kitchen since we moved in about 4 years ago. I could reach all of my appliances and cabinets without taking more than 1 step at a time it was so tiny!! With a big family that I cook for often, it just wasn't working at all. There was an adjoining breakfast nook that we never used so we thought about overtaking that to create more space but that is as far as we got. We submitted a request online for contractors to bid the job and Arches was the first and only company to do so. The salesman came out and made us feel at ease from the moment he walked in the door. He listened to what we wanted and was happy to help with the project. The next step was for Angel, the owner to come out and show us the 3D model of the design which I must say was mind blowing! We never dreamed that our home could have a kitchen like this! Once the drawings were approved, the schedule was created and it all started moving. We decided to do the demolition ourselves so we could afford to put more money into the kitchen itself and as soon as it was done, Angel's contractors were at the house and working away. The first step was to remove 5 walls and replace those of support with a massive beam. They went above and beyond and added additional support just to ensure the house would remain solid which was comforting. Sheetrock was next which was a huge undertaking but they were extremely good. The tile came after that and looks amazing. We requested that we not have a threshold between the existing wood flooring and new tile, and it is one of my favorite parts of the kitchen. Cabinets (which were all custom built) came next and I couldn't be more pleased. They look amazing and are exactly what we wanted. Once the cabinets were in, the granite and backsplash were installed followed by the finishing trim work. My kitchen looks like it should be on HGTV for an amazing transformation! Each group of workers took their time to make sure the job was done right, but were also extremely efficient. They had the job done in a matter of weeks!!
As with any remodel, there were a few hiccups along the way, but the team at Arches was quick to make the necessary changes to keep everything on track. They are definitely on my list for any future renovations we may have.
I have hesitated to write a review of Arches up until now. I have ambivalent feelings about it. I feel like the owner, Angel Moure is a man of integirty and the end product turned out very good.
However, along the way there was A LOT of stress. We did not get a fully dedicated crew as we were initially promised. After the 2 days of demolition, the workers generally did not show up until mid to late afternoon, making it pretty apparent that their larger jobs were taking precedence to ours, contrary to what we had originally been told. This caused the project to take about 5 weeks when we were told it would take about 2. The initial paint job was absolutely awful with drips everywhere and painting done over the sawdust from sanding. This painter was a sub. that Arches had reportedly never used before.
The tile we chose was a basket weave pattern of primairly black and white with some gray. The gray in the tile is random. The person who laid the tile made no effort to make sure thet the "look" remained random, and there was a mass of gray bunched in one area. Angel DID adress this and improved it, but this is probably the one area that I maybe should've insisted they do more to make it perfect. There were also initially some loose pieces in the basket weeave, but this WAS corrected 100%.
My impression is that Arches' had recently enjoyed a pretty substantial increase in their business and were going through some growing pains at the time our project was undertaken. They had recenlty hired a sort of business/project manager named Lance who came to our house several different days when we began to voice some complaints about how slow it was going and some of the shoddiness. Lance paid a lot of lip service to our concerns, but IMO did little to improve the siutation.
Victor, who was supposed to be our dedicated project manager, (and Angel) were the ones who, at the end of the day, ensured that the problems were corrected and that the project finally got done.
Like I said, I feel like Angel is a business owner with integrity, and the quality of work they are capable of is very good, but
I'd hesitate to recommend them based upon some of our experiences as described above.
I researched this company a lot. I checked with references and their references. They were right. Angel is a joy to work with and a very nice man. However, I started to notice problems when he showed me 2 samples of granite and my only specification was "NO YELLOWS." I now have brown, yellow and black granite (in that order of presence) in my kitchen and I hate it. My contract said $4500 for hardwood floors in the living/dining area and the hall. Being an idiot, I assumed that for that price it would be top quality hardwood. He brought me samples of LAMINATE and when I complained presented "engineered: hardwood...a thick veneer on plywood. I searched and this sells everywhere for $1.59 to $1.99 a square foot and even with installation in my little house that isn't close to $4500!
Well, the job is finished and I sit on my engineered hardwood floored living room and look at the uneven bottoms of my kitchen cabinets (yes, I pointed it out to Angel. he said "I wonder why they did that!") with the wobbly crown moldings, hanging over the granite I hate and get ready to paint the wall over the laundry room cabinets (I can see white when the room is grey) while I wait for another plumber to come again and verify that the bathroom floor must be ripped out because the drains from the new shower and soaking tub are at a "weird" grade and keep causing a "vapor lock" in my toilet in the full bath. So far I have replaced a "cheap and defective" faucet in the bath for $210.00 and paid $575.00 and $735.00 to different plumbers to be sure I get the right answer. And the toilet will not flush....the sink drains, the tub drains, the shower drains and they can see the flush water from the half bath go by, but toilet won't flush. Yes, Angel knows. He contacted his plumber about the faucet. And he took the first shot at the toilet.
Cosmetically the work is OK. Not what I thought I had asked for, but it looks OK
I don't know what to do. Except thank God for the 1/2 bath!
They are nice people, but I really feel that I was taken advantage of. Angel was almost never on site unless I called and complained and most work was done after regular business hours (I would come by to see what was done after work and find the guys getting ready to start a job). I realize this was a small job and he is busy, but I needed and thought I had hired a supervising contractor not a phone contact to his workers. For example, he sent me a text that the kitchen back splash was done and beautiful and it was so crooked I threw a fit. He did take it out and admit that it would not do as installed, so he was responsive. But he had not seen it until I called.
I had really good and really bad experiences with Angel. I am to the point I just want it over with and I do not see an end in sight.
.

Angel Moure and Victor Abarca are very professional, do outstanding work and a pleasure to work with from the estimate to the finished product. The tile work and granite that Victor did is beautiful and Cesar's cabinet work has given me a high end furniture look. I appreciate the suggestions and expertise that they provided to help me achieve the look I was going for.

I would not hesitate to recommend Arches to my friends and family and plan to consult with them on other future projects.

Arches estimate came in thousands below the other two I got from Angie's List but that was not my only deciding factor........ experience and a reputable firm were priority and Arches was just the right fit.

Angel was a source of strength for me throughout the process.

Angel, the owner, was very nice, punctual with initial contact. From that point on, at each step, I had to remind him of the work I contracted for. When the demo began, he was not here. The supervisor took out the toilet, putting it on the truck. When Angel arrived he & I went over the job with the super, the first the super knew the toilet stayed. Again, Angel did not refer to the job order & I had to list what the job entailed. This happened throughout the process. Never was there a list of job items referred to. The toilet was removed from the truck to the yard. When time came to reinstall it, tank lid was gone. It took me almost a month to get it back.
The billing did not include a deduction for no toilet replacement, so Angel wrote it in to include this amount in the final billing. When I got that billing, that amount had not been deducted. I had to remind Angel of this before sending my final payment.
The worker who did the actual tile work spent several hours each day on his speaker phone with his family, so loud we could not hear our TV . He did not speak English & had to call the super who was on another job to discuss anything with me.
Saw to cut tile & lumber was set up in front yard, all overages were left & I had to pick it up. Saw moved to patio to cut more tile and all the shavings were left for me to clean up. New mop boards were installed. Old one & leftover lumber was left in the yard.
Also left in the yard were several boxes of unused tile and a new bag of grout. All were rained & snowed on where boxes were destroyed.
I had to remind them to install a soap dish, then they installed it misaligned & I had to ask them to fist that. The cap where the shower enters the wall was (&still is) misaligned so that a part of the opening shows.
When the tile was installed there was a gap left between tile & wall board. I was told the painter would just paint over that, when I insisted it was too wide to just be painted over & I wanted it filled in, the super did so, leaving whatever mixture he used smeared on tile work, dust covered the walls, grout was smeared onto floorboards. Nothing was cleaned up.
The carpet man arrived unannounced. As I was unable to answer the door at that time, He rang the bell, stood & HAMMERED on it several time, then repeated this 3 or 4 times. My husband & I were shocked at this display of rudeness.
This was the most unprofessional company I can ever remember dealing with & I am 78 years old, so there have been many.
I had to hire someone to move the tile left on the sidewalk,. clean up the bathroom for painting & usability.
I gave Angel a rundown of all the various problems I encountered and of course got apologies over & over throughout the job from he & the super. It got to the point it was just a rote process. (Do the job however & apologize later)

I could not be happier with the outcome. They provided a schedule at the start of the project which was followed very well. The workers arrived on time, worked all day and cleaned up when they finished for the day. Angel and his crew were very easy to work with, making recommendations when necessary or adjusting to situations as they arose. The whole process was much less stressful than we had expected. The final cost was thousands less than other quotes we had been given and the quality of the work could not be better.
