Everything went exceptionally well. The job was done professionally and quickly. He and his assistant kept at it til the job was done--I don't recall their even taking a break. This was amazing since all the work was on the second floor and they both had to make innumerable trips up and down the stairs!! He used the best equipment for the job and gave us a very reasonable price for all the work done. Now our storage problems are solved, and we are very happy! I would recommend Mr. Saylor to anyone for any kind of repair, remodeling, or whatever is needed. He is honest and friendly and has the expertise to do whatever you need done. We are very fortunate to have found him and his company to help us out and would not consider calling anyone else to do whatever we need done!

I was told that re-grading the slope of ground away from the house would definitely solve the problem, without the need to install a French drain. In order to add additional insurance, since the old deck had already been removed and ground exposed, we asked that the French drain be installed as well, and were explicit about the materials to use. During the installation, an engineer friend familiar with residential building code, noticed that it was not being done correctly for the type of construction they were dealing with ( not a complete basement wall, only a foot a few feet deep. Upon inspection before the drain pipe was covered over, he asked that it be checked once again for the angle of slope and discovered a section of pipe had been run over by the bobcat, putting it out of alignment.

They told me that it may take a few months for the existing water to dry but they were certain it would be corrected, but it has been nine months and the water still exists. As work was progressing, there were many questions regarding the way the work was being done. Upon review of receipts for lumber, which he asked that we take care of ourselves, we discovered the purchase of tools that he could later use for other jobs. I feel that I was taken advantage of by an unlicensed contractor who gave fraudulent information on Angie's list.

I started contacting him in December 2013 and he continues to defend his work . He began texting me that he would send out another professional to look at the problem, but since has only texted excuses and has now declined to do anything. We did check on the contractor's license number listed on Angie's List and it cannot be found registered in the state of Tennessee. This was done on Feb 3, 2014 and this information sent to them.

Response from Arising Construction & Remodeling
"Unfortunately [member name removed] has failed to mention that the consulting engineer that she referenced in her review is actually her retired Electrical Engineer Boyfriend, and it is a Civil Engineer that would make the proper design for the water issue that she has been experiencing. We had a planned out design that was shown to her to fix her problems and she changed from that plan and had us listen to her boyfriend. Her boyfriend does not have proper knowledge of this matter and we tried to explain things to him and he demanded that the work be done how he wanted it and unfortunately in changing things to how the customers boyfriend requested it be done caused the problem to not be fixed properly and we highly recommended against the changes to Deborah. We have offered to have a Civil Engineer go out to the customers home to advise of the proper design needed to fix the water issue."

Let me most heartily make a totally unsolicited, uncompensated and extremely strong recommendation, namely that if you have ANY construction projects you need done, that you get a bid from Arising Construction & Remodeling, who have done an AMAZING job building our new deck at a very reasonable cost! Lee Saylor grew up in a construction family and has an outstanding ability to envision final products, adjust designs for budgets, and create stunning projects along with an awesome crew of craftsmen! He said what they'd do, how they'd do it, and when they'd do it...and that's just what they did! I'll not be using anyone else for any future home improvements!
My experience went well with them. They did a good job. We had one place initially that had a leak in it, but then it worked out well. They got the job done pretty quick. They were here on time and did the work on time. We were satisfied with the work.

26We got 3 bids for our deck, they gave us the best price and said they could start right away. They started right away and finished when they said they would be done. The deck looks great and the construction of the deck is excellent.
