I contracted with this con artist to fully update the electrical in 2 condos (total job was $18,000). I paid him (Rafal Simonowsky) half up front ($9,000) and never saw him again. He kept making excuses (sick family, car accident, dying family member, etc.). STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!!

Took the deposit and never did any work. Had every excuse in the book for why he could not get the plans to the Sea Construction company. Contract signed and 50% deposit paid in February and as of June no paper work for permits. When asked for the deposit back he said "Go ahead and Sue me", so its what I plan to do.

Raf is very professional. He comes with helpers, so the work goes quickly. They clean up after each job. Their work is beautifully done, and I'm really happy with the updates they did to my kitchen. I've used A&M (Armour Electric) in the past, for a transfer switch so I can run on a generator during a power outage, and rewiring work, required by my insurance company. His work is exemplary, and I will call him again in the future if I need additional work.

I did like that I was communicating mostly with the owner and not a rep, and the job was done to satisfaction for the most part. However there was a small element not completed, and after attempting to contact them twice in two weeks, it's still not done. It seems like they got the money for the big stuff and don't want to waste time coming back to finish up something small. Also seemed a little on the pricey side.

This is the second time I have used A&M. Both times the owner responded quickly. He fixed a 3 way light switch that another electrician had done incorrectly. He has installed my Alexa, A/C thermostat, theater system wiring. On another call, he fixed a dryer that was wired incorrectly by the installer. Everything was done perfectly. I am a retired builder and I know good work when I see it. His work is of the highest quality and his prices were reasonable.

Raf and his team are the new gold standard for how contractors should behave and the type of honest and professional service they should offer. Home electrical work: When my fiancee and I purchased our home an electrical permit was found still open after 12 years. Yes. 12. The previous owners, the developer and about 4 other electricians I called didn't correct the problem - some didn't know how to, others didn't want to deal with the city (having gone there a few times to follow up or for questions I understand why). Raf provided a fair estimate and brilliantly solved ALL our electrical issues. He had to redo load calculations for 2 panels, have them approved by the city of Davie and then he sent his people to do the work. The city (that had failed the work of another electrician who subsequently gave up) approved Raf's company work right away. We are finally done with a nightmare that lasted since we bought the house 7 months ago. Generator: after the house electrical work was completed, he started working on the generator, that the previous owners never serviced in 12 years. It was fully rusted, with holes in the muffler and in no safe operating conditions. Raf's specialized team worked on it for over a week, customizing parts and bringing it back to a like new condition, saving us $17,000 for a new generator. A big thank you from my fiancee and I, we will be in touch soon to install a smart system for our home!

Being ex military myself I try to use ex military business owners. Though Raf and I got on well together the work had issues. The first box after it was installed used a non-marine 50 amp plug, the housing was too close to the fuse box so it wouldn't open far enough to get the plug in. The second unit was built over the water outlet for the dock which will cause me to pay for a plumber now to move it. When I called and sent pictures of the first issue, the non standard plug and the housing, I was told it would be done by end of the week since I had a boat coming in to use the dock. It kept getting put off until the end of the week came and went. Finally Raf showed up and but the didn't have the tools or the parts so another day, he finally sent a another crew that had to redo the mounting brackets to get the box on. When I measured the 50 amp socket it was a different dimension than the other one he had installed. I'm now waiting to see if that will work with the boat coming in. If not it will have to be redone again and it will cause an issue with the boat owner. In all it seem that there was no quality control or oversight on the job itself. I was sadly disappointed and would not use them for dock work again. I can't speak to the companies abilities for residential homes or business.
Response from Armour Electrical LLC
"The wrong outlet was put in by mistake, which we corrected, at our expense and time. On the second assembly it was put where the customer wanted it. We couldn't move it because that's where the existing piping was coming from the floor. Unfortunately it blocked a hose spicket. We informed the homeowner and he said it wasn't a problem to him. Unfortunately we found out later that his wife was not in agreement with him. So we further explained the issue to her, and she seemed to understand the issue. This is what happens when people don't communicate with each other. We warrantee our work this is why we came back and made the corrections on our own time and money. As far as getting to their property to do the necessary adjustments we had to work around the South Florida weather and rain during that week, which is why we went out over a few days to work around the weather. None the less, as promised, the corrections were made before his dockside renter was to arrive with their new vessel. We reached out to the homeowner to ensure that the outlet was functioning for the vessel and thus far we have not heard from the homeowner that the outlet was not functional, so we can assume that all the work was completed correctly. We strive to do business professionally and with high quality control and always try to make the customer happy."

My experience with A and M Electric started off excellently. A lightning strike over a weekend took out half of the power at my house. I submitted several requests for quotes through Angie's List and to my surprise, I received a call from the owner of A and M Electric on a Sunday offering to come out that day and take a look. Wow....pretty impressive to get someone out on a Sunday, right? The owner, Raf, called to let me know he was running late and eventually arrived and spent a good deal of time diagnosing the problem. He wrote an estimate for over $10,000 to fix everything and bring it up to code and charged me $200 for the visit which, by the way, would NOT be applied to the work should I decide to go with him. OK....I guess.... but the first time I have EVER dealt with a contractor that would not credit an initial diagnostic visit should you give them the recommended work, especially given that the job was well over $10K. Based on the owner's willingness to come out on a Sunday and his thorough diagnostic, I gave him the job and willingly paid the $200 first visit charge along with a 50% deposit. I had a business trip scheduled for the following week but was willing to reschedule in order to get things squared away at the house. I was very specific with the owner about needing an accurate completion date in order that I could confidently reschedule my trip. He told me he would be getting the permit on Thursday or Friday of the upcoming week and would be starting the work the following Monday. Because of the uncertainty of the city permitting department's schedule, he told me to give the job a total of 2 weeks from the day the deposit was given. When asked, he said he was VERY confident this date had plenty of wiggle room and he was sure he could meet this commitment. Well Monday and Tuesday of the following week passed and I had no communication from Raf. On Wednesday, I texted him reminding him of the schedule he communicated to me and asking why we couldn't meet the original schedule. He let me know he decided to extend his vacation so he did not get the permit the previous Thursday or Friday, as committed, so therefore could not start the work. I will spare you all of the details of the next 3 weeks but suffice it to say, after I gave the deposit, it was like I was dealing with a different person than the guy that came out that Sunday. I was held hostage at my home due to the fact. I never knew when the crew would be arriving. Some days they would show up late in the afternoon, work for a few hours then knock off and tell me they'd be back in the morning....only to no-show the entire next day and never call to let me know they would not be coming after all. I tried to explain to Raf that I had things to do during the day so I would appreciate knowing when they would be working. This fell on deaf ears and I would constantly have to text him to see if and when they would be working and often they still would be significantly late To add insult to injury, although our financial agreement was half down and the balance due upon completion, the owner demanded a $2000 draw on the balance before the work was complete, even though it was already significantly past the committed date of completion. He claimed it was to show "good faith"....although ironically he abandoned good faith the minute he got my deposit. I paid the draw as requested. Well.I failed the first city inspection. Raj sent 2 members of his crew out to correct the issue. They were at my home for less than an hour, (one of the crew spent the entire time smoking outside while talking on his phone) and I was charged an additional $250.....to correct their OWN work.....at an hourly rate higher than my attorney. Almost 4 weeks after the initial meeting and 2 re-scheduled business trips later, I finally passed my final inspection. Not once, did Raf accept responsibility for not meeting his commitments or apologize for causing me to miss several trips. While I passed the final with the city, I'm still having issues with A and M's work. The lights throughout my house flicker when the washing machine runs or the AC kicks on....something that never happened before A and M worked on my house. Not surprising, when I texted Raf about this he responded with a text "I'll call you in a few" and 72 hours later I finally received a call. Also not surprising, Raf denied this had anything to do with his work and that it must be something else and if he were to come back out, it would not be covered from the previous work. Strange,he was able to make this determination over the phone without ever once offering to come out and take a look at his work for possible mistakes. Given how poorly this company responded once they had my deposit, I declined throwing good money after bad and I am currently looking for another electrical contractor to clean up after Raf and A and M Electric I realize, like me, many Angie's List clients will be impressed by this company's many positive reviews and ,despite my experience, will still choose to use them. He talks a good game, that is, until you give up that deposit. If you are considering using this company, I would encourage you to read ALL the reviews and look for similar themes to my experience. Not meeting commitments, overcharging, refusing to stand by completed jobs and total lack of respect for their customers time to name just a few. I'm sure Raf will respond to this, as he has with all his negative reviews, and blame it on unreasonable clients. All I'll say to those of you that still hire these folks...."I tried to warn you:"

"[Member Information Removed] off we can say that everyone has the right to express their side of the story and as a business with great reviews, which we respond to and appreciate. We also have to respond to the bad reviews. To try to keep it short and to the point. We went out on a Sunday and charged $200 (which is below our weekend/emergency rate of $250) not just for "a diagnostic visit", but completed emergency temporary service to get power to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] home so he would have some power and AC until we could complete his repairs due the fire/burned electrical service panels. We explained to him that we could complete the repair within 2 weeks based on the city permitting, but that could take up to a month. We also worked with him and his insurance carrier being that he had such a high deductible. Unfortunately we have no control over city department scheduling. Although we understood the fact that he had to reschedule a trip, we had no control over certain circumstances. When you have to do a project involving the local building depts. you have to follow their rules and timeline. As far as other issues in Mr. [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] home, they are not related to his burned up service panels, that we were contracted to repair and did so. After opening up and replacing his burned up panels we did however inform him of the wiring and how too many circuits are tied together and should be separate. (Example... his washer is not plugged into a laundry room dedicated circuit, but instead into a bedroom outlet which is tied into all the other bedroom outlets and a window AC unit), not to mention more of the same combined circuitry in his kitchen. Unfortunately any of that requires more work and more money to fix. As with any 50-60 year old home, no one wants to hear that there are underlying issues. As always we completed our contracted work. We try to make the customer happy, but no one is happy about spending money on unanticipated issues."

I was upset when Com Cast told me they would no longer do the work to fix interior wires that they installed and I would have to hire someone. After almost 3 months of intermittent service I contacted A & M Electrical through Angie's List. They estimated $250 to $400 for the work, and I was willing to pay since they were the only company who called me back. They arrived on time and were very professional. Upon inspection of my wires, they advised that they could likely fix my problem without a complete re-wire. They instead charged me just the minimum service charge and fixed not only the problem but also redid all of the interior connections that were poorly done by Com Cast. I appreciated their honesty, integrity and their true concern for helping me get my cable and internet working. They didn't leave until they were certain everything was working to my satisfaction.

I initially called re a fan switch that my handyman could not resolve. Raf squeezed me in right away & fixed the small issue. During the visit, we discussed my desire to replace the can style high hats in my home as they were dated/ugly & inefficient. He gave me a more than fair price & arranged a date. They arrived promptly, worked neatly & quickly & I love how it looks. I had him check every switch & plug in the house & in total, I replaced 48 lights, 3 dimmers a GFI, an outlet & of course the fan control.

I loved this company. It is so rare to find a company that performs with the highest level of quality and exhibits excellent professionalism in all respects (answering service and field folks). I was present when the President came and corrected wiring on a pool timer that was too much of a job for me to do on my own. I was so impressed I immediately asked him if he would take a look at what needed to be done to wire up a tankless water heater. He took a look and gave me a general quote; we called the company a couple weeks later and they even coordinated with an affiliated plumber to get the tankless heater installed in a day while my family was home. All works great and I would recommend this company above all others.

Raf Simonowsky, president of A&M Electrical, has a great on the job working relationship with his crew. He enjoys "getting his hands dirty", and goes out of his way to ensure customer satisfaction. His many years of experience were invaluable to the successful completion of the job, including interactions with both FPL and the Oakland Park permitting department

I found A&M on Angie's list in 2015 when I needed some electrical insight about my outside pool and irrigation pumps. They were so exceptional that when I had some issues with a couple of light switches in the house this month (one not turning off, one shorting out), I gave them a call. Once again, I was thoroughly pleased! Ira and Kenny were both friendly and professional. Just speaking with them a little bit, it was obvious both are experienced and knowledgeable about electrical work. They discussed the issues, answered every last question I had, and gave me a few options in regard to the replacements. I never felt talked down to or as though they didn't consider my opinion. I really can not say enough about them both. They completed everything in about an hour and I can't put to words how relieved I was to have everything back in working order! Being a single mother, not only does every dollar count but so does having a company to trust. This is one of them. I truly can't recommend A&M enough. This is my second experience with them, nearly three full years later, and the service and staff remain exceptional.

Raf was excellent. He came within one day of my call to their office and had a detailed bid in by that evening (on a Friday!). He had an unexpected opening the following week and came to do the work. His two employees were also excellent and professional. They redid the lighting in our bathrooms and kitchen and I absolutely love it. Raf made great recommendations re lighting to consider and we’re totally pleased with the result. We will definitely use them again.

The use of A&M Electric turned out to be a wonderful mistake. I thought they had done some work for us 2 years ago; I spoke to the scheduler, who was very professional and friendly. She indicated that she would look for the records and give me a call back...of course since I was mistaken there was no record but she stood by her word and called be back within 20 minutes to tell me they did not do the work in our house. In most scenarios that would be it but since I previously expressed that this needed to be fixed for insurance purposes and that they had done the work, she had reached out to the owner RAF while looking for the records. During her call back RAF was on the other line and indicated the he was close to my area and would be able to stop by in a hour and a half to take a look in early afternoon. The original appointment was scheduled for early afternoon but due to an other customer RAF was delayed to my area (SWR/PP); I had no idea and called the office left a message and within 30 minutes i had a call back even though it was pass their closing hours. They then contacted RAF who gave an updated time and did not cancel on me....while in transit he unfortunately got a flat; for most service providers that would be the end of that and they would give some excuse to cancel, or simply no show. RAF remained a true professional and called to let me know what happened; asked if i would still be available for a late appointment and pledged to make it to me if I was still available. I responded that I would be here and he arrived at my property as promised. Upon Arrival Raf was friendly, courteous, and efficient...within 4 minutes he was at my two panels and removing the face to take a look; it turns out my insurance gave the wrong panel and he quickly looked at the next panel and found the double tap. Thankfully he took some time to look at the wires and concluded he could easily fix it without another punch-out and he did the work right then and there and asked if I wanted to take a picture for my insurance before closing the panel back up. It was about this time I learned that he was just out doing estimates and scheduling work but he decided to get things fixed while he was there. I then pressed my luck and asked him to install a chandelier I was meaning to do myself. He quickly took a look without hesitating and asked if I had a ladder...I replied yes and that was it he opened the box and started to get things ready while I got the ladder. Within 30 minutes the chandelier was installed and adjusted to the appropriate height I requested over the table. In another sign of quality; though it was now after 7 and he had quite a drive back to the home office Raf checked his work for quality and noticed finger prints which he proceeded to get back on the ladder and clean off the ceiling. This is definitely a guy you want supervising a crew if they enter your home. Overall despite the wait because of his honesty, proactive approach to sticking by his word, and customer friendly service I would rate my experience with A&M and all out win. As a homeowner I know from experience great workmanship is hard to find in South Florida and I will not ding a provider who has to brave our ever worsening traffic once they keep the communication lines open. Raf did that and tons more so he gets an "A" from me and a stamp of approval for his Service Award from Angies List. Side-note: The lady of the house arrived right after installation wrapped up; a matter of fact they passed each other on the way in and out; it was all smiles by my lady when she saw the surprise; (which I did not plan) of having the chandelier installed thanks to Raf's flexibility it got done. She keeps turning it on and looking at it; You know what they say about a happy Wife. Disclaimers for other Angies List customers reading my review: Please note that A&M;s work has a $150 minimum charge (Which I was unaware of) so make sure you have the work before you call them and prepare the area for easy access (which I did). I did not use the discount as I thought installing the chandelier was above and beyond and i was not going to nickle and dime the guy after the day he had. I think $150 is fair price when you are considering people who are good at what they do; I found RAF at A&M Electrical to be one of the best. My ceiling is low (around 12 feet from ground) so don't expect my pricing if you live in cavernous McMansion where the ceilings are 20+ feet in the air...also I told Raf not to worry about hanging the crystals on the chandelier I did that myself.
