.Terrible contractor!! Took him 2 years to get around to doing the kitchen, and then I got far less than expected. He finally answered our call and agreed to start May 1st, but then delayed because the cabinets weren't ready. They totally rushed through (once they finally started). Tore apart our kitchen in one day and threw everything in our garage; left it there - we had to haul it out to the garbage after removing all the nails ourselves - took us a weekend. That's the last we saw them for over a week. No appliances, no sink, no kitchen. As is the norm with this outfit, no pick up on our phone calls or call backs. Started sending texts to him since the mailbox was always full; most were of them went unanswered by him. When he did text back, it was one lame excuse after another.
Two weeks later, he began the floor work, and finished laying the tile I bought in two days. Then the village shut him down. He failed to pull a permit, and couldn't provide the license/insurance they demanded. So he stopped working for a couple more weeks. He made us pay for the permit and for his insurance premium ($390) before he would continue, but was working on another job and made us wait several more weeks.
Cabinets were to have been full overlay - instead he installed junk cabinets - definitely not what we ordered, definitely NOT full overlay. When we pointed this out to him, he said this was the companies "full overlay". He lied. The only full overlay was the pantry. Doors installed poorly - off by as much as 1/4 inch. The doors and handles are noticeably off kilter. Lazy susan cabinet hits side when you try to open it - asked them to fix this as well - they ignored us.
Installation was again delayed weeks, because Robert had also incorrectly measured for the cabinets along the sink wall. He had to reorder a different size cabinet. The sink cabinet was to have been centered under the windows like the previous cabinet was, but because his measurements were off, we had to have the sink installed way to the side of the cabinet so the sink would at least center under the windows.
They dented the new appliances we bought pushing them into place; never bothered to mention this damage to us. The vent for the microwave is misaligned (Mr. Prybyl's measurements were off) so it doesn't vent properly.
After complaining repeatedly about how far away he was from us (he should have just refused the work - I would have been much happier), he demanded another $7,725 on top of the $6,999 we had already paid through Angie's list 2 years earlier. He wouldn't leave without payment he demanded. (This was only the second day they were here for more than 5 to 6 hours). This was a complete ripoff of an older couple.
They were at our home for a total of less than 10 days; most of the time it was only one person (Robert or his father); the cost of the cabinets was about $6,000 - so we paid this outfit nearly $1,000 a day for 1 1/2 man labor on a terribly done job.
Overall, we were greatly disappointed in this contractor and would warn anyone not to consider using him or his company .
He told me it would take 6 weeks maximum to remodel my kitchen, and it has been 2 years and we still can't get a hold of him. I had to go and buy my own supplies. I believe he is being extremely unprofessional and has raised the pricing.

It was okay but I didn’t end up using them for the remodel. I just didn’t go forward with the plan that they suggested. They were professional. The plans were decent, they had some good ideas for what we could do with our basement but it was more for an unfinished basement and ours is a fairly finished basement. It was kind of vague to make out with the description of the deal when I purchased it, so he came out and said the deal was for an unfinished basement and I needed some work done on a finished basement. They are not bad a company, they are probably very good but I don’t have a need for them at this point.

As far as I am concerned, it went poorly. I was originally told project would take 1 1/2-2 weeks, but it was closer to 2 1/2 months.

When worker tried to remove tile from existing walls, damage was done to linen closet wall and bedroom closet wall. This was fixed. Owner Robert Pribyl was difficult to get hold of, and workers were not here every day. I was told there were delays in getting my vanity, there was a delay in getting my tub (original one had a crack in it. I had to keep calling to find out when workers would be here. I had to live someplace else while my bathroom was being done.

I had to call them back to fix imperfections in the walls after the job was complete. I did not get the tub I had requested, but since it was already installed, I let it go. I was never told what the cost of "extras" would be. I assumed the materials he chose were those that were covered by this bathroom remodeling deal. I wanted a higher toilet as I am disabled and knew that would cost more, but I was never given any other details. If I knew that items I chose would be at a higher price, then I would have looked at something else.

My son had to do some finishing work --- caulk the area between the glass block window and the sill (who knows what kind of problem I would have had if water continually dripped through the opening); he also had to put some kind of silicon at the crackline between the vanity backsplash and the countertop. I had to remove tile grout from the bathroom tiles after he said that it was done.

There was dust throughout the house; I expected some that I thought I could clean. This was really gritty and I had to hire a cleaning service. Now in March, I receive an invoice for an amount that I don't believe I owe. I already sent you a copy, but the balance due is $1,938!!!!! I calculated that I probably owe $595 and I have sent a check. The work was finally completed after Labor and I am getting an invoice March 31!!!!

I desperately need help with this. I had put aside $500 for "extras", but I am not prepared to pay this, and really can't afford this additional expense.

He remodeled my bathroom. It went well. I like my bathroom. It isn’t exactly as I pictured it would be. The bathroom was supposed to take about two weeks and it took two months.

From the start, Robert was very friendly, approachable, and willing to do everything he could to give us what we were looking for. I presented Robert with a series of detailed architectural drawings, and he followed them well. There were times some on his team would miss details, but they were all open for redirection. Vladimir was exceptional and artistic in his ability to think through and layout beautiful floor and wall tile work. Salvador and Alfonso did an excellent job at framing, drywall, and painting. David the electrician did flawless work.
Halfway through the project, my architect went through all the work, found it mostly done well, but had some recommendations for things that Robert and his team change. Robert was responsive to him, and made all the necessary changes based on my architect's recommendations.
At one point, I gave Robert instructions for mounting three medicine cabinets together based on recommendations from a vendor, but those instructions did not turn out to be the best. After my architect examined and realized some of the problems with the mounting, he and I spoke with Robert, and Robert was willing to redo that whole installation for a very reasonable price.
We are very happy with how things turned out, and the excellent work Robert and his team did. Most certainly, we will be recommending him and his company to others, and plan to use them again for future projects.
I was very impressed with Robert and his crew. They began work on time, kept me informed if anything came up and were easy to work with. We did not have any cost overruns other than the extra work we asked their help on.
When estimating the cost, Robert was very thorough to ensure that potential issues have been considered. For example, although I had received a handful of estimates, he was the only contractor who noticed that we had vinyl tile under our carpets which also needed to be removed, thereby including the cost upfront instead of it being a surprise later on.
The quality of the work was excellent and the time frame to complete the work was good. After the completion of the basement work, I asked Artix to do some additional work we needed to get done as well.
The only issue we had was that Artix does not do carpet installation and instead suggested that we use one of the subcontractors they work with. That worked out okay but we had to coordinate the scheduling and payment separately.
Again, overall, we were very happy with the work and quality.
Robert was very professional and great to work with. He had great communication prior to purchasing the deal and scheduling was easy. He showed up when he said we would and knocked out our entire list with ease. He was easy going, knowledgable and very helpful. I'd highly recommend working with Robert and we intend to contract him on future building repairs.
He completed the garage frame in 1 hour - so I still had another hour left with the big deal but he couldn't do the other things on my list during because he didn't have the right equipment - even though we previously discussed it.
Robert and his team did a great job. Robert was on site the first day, and a member of his team was there the following days, took about 7 days total to complete the work. Robert was always available to speak with when I had questions. He was very responsive and professional. His team member worked hard, and they were able to finish by the date that I asked them to. The work looks great, and I have gotten many compliments on it.
The company owner came and reviewed the worked and scheduled it. The gentle who came to do the work took his time and did highly experienced craftman work, but did not speak English so we were not able to discuss details on the spot.
This was the only drawback. For example, he tried to communicate an idea related to the opening tiles meeting the floor tiles, but because he did not speak English I was not able to understand his suggestion. After the work was finished, I realized that his idea would have helped my fireplace design. I also asked about the contractor returning to install backsplash tiles. There were still a few hours on my Big Deal but not enough to complete the entire backspash job. Toward the end of my job, the company owner had an family emergency and never contact me again. When I called and left him a message, I did not receive a return call. Recently a friend asked who completed my fireplace tile work and I provided information on Artix Construction.
