Mr. Gutt arrived on time and evaluated my basement stairwell as requested on its appearance and structurally. Also i received a written report, as requested in a timely manner.

This engineers plan was unreasonable and unworkable, unnecessarily invasive and expensive to implement. Would never hire him again. He required payment before a plan was delivered and when it was delivered would not discuss alternatives with my contractor. Two contractors and another engineering firm told me that his plan did not make any sense. This was a total waste of money. He did not refund any money. He offered to refund half of the $600 I paid him if I sent a stamped plan from a licensed engineering firm. I did that twice and he has not responded.

Adam brought a level and checked all four walls in three separate locations. They did not write anything down. After approximately 10 minutes they gave a very brief analysis with very little to no engineering justification. Their recommendation was to complete a significant amount of work, doing a variety of solutions. No specific guidance was provided, only very very general guidance. All their recommendations were the top 4 most common solutions in the industry. The fact no tailored solution was provided or engineering justification, suggests they were only providing very general solutions that could apply to almost any residential structure. Adam did not provide any written document with their findings until we repeatedly asked for it. I am not convinced that if we had not asked so much, they would not have provided it. The written guidance was general and vague. Adam said that the contractors should know what to do. We then brought in three separate contractors. Each one said that Adam's guidance and document was useless. Each one said we wasted our money and needed to get a new structural engineer. Additionally, some of the contractors said Adam's guidance was not possible on our structure. We brought in a second structural engineer who provided very specific drawings of what contractors need to do. They also provided a solution tailored to our structure. I definitely do not recommend Adam.

Immediate appointment. No nonsense remarkable engineer. Go to him first when you have a water problem in your crawl space or basement so that you get a correct solution and not just a water proofing work around. Has relatively few reviews on Angies but he has straight A+ reviews.

Atam assessed my property and issued a report. Luckily he found no signs of structural problems - just normal aging

I had a list of concerns and Mr. Gutt explained what he thought about each and gave recommendations so that I understood clearly. He was willing to answer as many questions as I had and stay until I had no more. Concerns: large tree 2 ft from house, recent plumbing work by plumber enlarged a hole in joist, check on bathroom subfloor repair and wobbly floor in a bedroom. Very clear instructions on how to fix the joist and subfloor. The tree wasn't a structural danger but advised to have it removed anyway.

Mr. Gutt was very thorough and looked at the whole house, every room, attic, basement and outside. His comments and suggestions were detailed and informative. He gives a written report.

I can't say enough good things about Atam Gutt. If there were 6 star ratings I would give 6 instead of 5. He is punctual, professional, knowledgeable, courteous and respectful. His pricing was among the best of the engineers I spoke to and I spoke to several before hiring him. He went above and beyond what was required calling me back after he wrote is report to make sure I understood everything. He even offered to come back on his own time to confer with county engineers if needed. I would recommend him to anyone I know and I would certainly use his services again if needed. Mr. Gutt explained that he has extensive experience and definitely inspect and find out the house is structurally safe. He showed up on time and told me the house need fixing by installing additional support studs. He was very responsive on writing the problem and also included the detail design indicating how it should be fixed. He also included his stamp. Seller immediately was notified and seller performed the required fixes based on Mr. Gitt's recommendation. I am happy that I hired structural engineer so now I have peace of mind that the roof is supported and house doesn't have any structural problems.

Mr. Gutt was very professional. As he walked us through and around the house to conduct his visual assessment, he gave a thorough explanation. Mr. Gutt sent the official report within two hours of completing his assessment.

I spoke with Mr. Atam Gutt and he was very informative from our first conversation. He came to our home and completed a very thorough inspection sending us a report in a timely way. He is fully licensed in Maryland and Virginia. He went out of his way to be sure we received a list of contractors he could recommend and followed up to be sure we received same. I recommend him unequivocally and with pleasure.
