Work completed in a timely manner with a two year warranty. Twenty months later the parging has cracked and broken away from the smoke chamber. A&T does not answer the phone. An on-line calendar will make an appointment, but no one shows up. Do not use this company.

The work went without a hitch. The workers were timely, they cleaned up after themselves. They cared about their work and with keeping things neat during the process. They are very responsive and kept me updated during this 2-day project. Weather was a factor where the work had to stop, but they kept  me posted as to their return. They truly care about their craft and the customer. I highly recommend them. <br />

A&T was very dedicated and professional. The job turned out to be much harder than they had estimated and it took almost 14 hours to complete due to complications. The team stuck it out to ensure that we would have heat for the night and that everything was complete and in working order. <br />

We bought the Angies List special deal and scheduled the appointment.  The man arrived on time, cleaned the chimney and left within about an hour.  No deficiencies were noted which was good because we weren't sure how long it had been since the last time anyone has cleaned the chimney. <br />

When we went to start a fire, smoke was still filling the house. I called for an estimate and to diagnose the problem. They said it needed to be cleaned. Once it was cleaned, they noticed the cracks. I paid for the cleaning and half the repair on their first visit. Once they completed the repair, I paid the remaining amount. Three days after the final repair, we tried to start a fire & smoke was still coming into the house. Chris Taylor is the gentleman who did the work & he is supposed to be NFPA certified. I have been trying to call them for 6 days & they have not returned my calls. <br /> <br /> I finally reached someone who told me Kris was out of town and that they would send another person.  When the two men got there.  I was at work but my son was at home. <em> </em>I got a call at work that there was an altercation and that the AT Chimney people left.  They stated my son pulled a knife on them - that I knew to be untrue.  The men left their equipment there and asked a policeman to retrieve it.  The police asked my son for details.  His statement was as follows: <br /> <br /> <blockquote> The two men came in to look at the fireplace.  I asked them to start a fire so that they could see what I was talking about or show me what I was doing wrong.  One of the men said they were no going to start the fire.  He said there was nothing he could or would do.  I was angry and reminded them that they have taken close to $1,000 from my mother and the fireplace still does not work.  I was very angry and they left. <br /> <br /> </blockquote>I called back and spoke to the owner, Mr. McGirl.  He repeated what his mean said about a knife; however, they police did not bother my son because it did not happen.  Mr. McGirl stated he would not leave me "hanging" and would be out on Saturday, January 24.  The men from AT Chimney did not appear and did not call; instead, since an e-mail close to two hours later to say they hand to cancel.  To date, they have not made any arrangements to come back correct any problems.

I would HIGHLY recommend this company. We received an estimate for cleaning our chimney and fireplace when purchasing our home and the work ended up being far more extensive than the original estimate (major safety issue was found during cleaning). A&T Chimneys visited our home 4 times over the course of 2 months to finish the work. They worked around our schedules and were always on time, worked hard, and thoroughly explained all the work and future work. They were extremely reasonably priced and we do not believe we would have received anywhere near the same level of service from another provider. <br />

A&T was friendly on the phone, scheduled the appointment at my convenience (a Saturday no less), sent out a nice e-mail reminder, called on their way to the appointment, showed up within the time window, and quickly and professionally installed a flue cap with a lifetime warranty.  All-in-all I'd say you can't do much better than that! Highly recommended! <br />

I don't think I can express how wonderful the service was all around, and how grateful I am for it!  It was the weekend before Christmas, and our fireplace starts smoking to the point we can't use it.  I called around to find a sweep ASAP, but the earliest we could get was January 8th!  Then I found A&T.  They are, what I would consider, in the neighborhood, as opposed to most of the other companies who were in Montgomery County.  And they were extremely neighborly.  I called after hours, and someone picked up.  They were able to accommodate me on my schedule (because a lot of the work they do is in my area, they are spending their time sweeping not driving!), and the sweep was done the first business day after I called.  The sweeper called ahead and was very professional.  I used the Big Deal, too.  The fireplace is working great and we were able to use it over the holidays.  I will be using A&T again for any future services, and I highly recommend them.   <br />

Problems with the chimney tiles were identified during the chimney cleaning.  They estimated the cost of the repairs and returned a few weeks later to fix the problems.  I don't know enough about chimneys to comment on whether they did a good job, but it appears to be fixed and they offered a 2-year warranty on the work performed.   <br /> I was disappointed with the clean-up after the work.  They unhooked a garden hose to get water and did not re-attach it.  There was an attempt to clean the area in front of the fireplace, but it wasn't thorough.  Both minor offenses, but worth noting. <br />

We had been told by a home inspector and another chimney sweep/repair company that we needed to replace our damper with a new lock-top damper requiring an adapter - a costly repair on our budget.   Prior to committing to the repair, we called A&T to come out and give us a second opinion.  Dennis from A&T evaluated our chimney and determined that the damper was basically fine but just a little rusty.   They applied some oil to the damper so it would move more freely and that was that.   <br /> Not only did they save us hundreds of dollars on a repair we didn't need, they charged $0 for the visit and the (admittedly minor) work.  Dennis also pointed out another important repair that <em>was </em>needed - the heat reflecting panels that line the inside of the fireplace were cracked, which is a potential fire hazard.  This hadn't even been mentioned by the home inspector or the other chimney company. <br /> So although I can't judge the quality of their work beyond applying a bit of oil, I can attest to their courtesy, integrity and professionalism and say that  from now on, I will call them first for all of my chimney needs. <br />

They did a great job and were very reasonably priced.

They're excellent, economical, clean, and responsive. It only took them a little less than an hour to do the work. They come prepared, take their shoes off, and spread a dropclocth all around.
