Josh arrived on time and did a fantastic job. This is the second season I have used Atlanta Yard Guard and I will continue to use them.

Like many of the other reviewers on this page, I purchased a year long lawn maintenance package from this provider for $999. They came out for the first service (2 hrs) and a couple other "maintanence services" and did a good job. Then, the first week in July I get a call from them saying that they've had employee issues and that he's had to fire all of his employees and he can't deliver the services promised anymore (weekly service is too difficult). He offered a refund or that he would do the work in chunks - I felt bad for him and agreed to give him a chance to do the work in chunks so that he didn't have to come up with the money. We scheduled an 8hr session 3 weeks later - they didn't show and when I texted him he gave me the same story about losing employees the day before. At that point, I asked for a refund for the work that wasn't done - they had done less than 30% of the services so I asked for $650 back. He offered $400 because that's all that he had left. Again, feeling bad for the guy, I told him I was willing to accept $400 plus 6 hours of work - we agreed. It has now been almost two months since that agreement and still no refund or work completed. Every time I ask him about the refund, I am told that he'll take care of it that day or that there's a problem with the bank, etc. Meanwhile, I've come out of pocket on last minute lawn care because this company didn't show up as promised and now apparently won't honor my refund either. All I can say is do not pay these guys in advance for any work done - it's too bad because they did decent work but given the way my situation (and it looks like many people on here) has been handled I would never recommend them to anyone.

The way the big deal was supposed to work was that Atlanta yard guard would come every other week for a year and do an hours worth of work each time. From the beginning, he didn't do what he said he was going to do. Didn't show up when he was supposed to, didn't stay for an hour instead doing a quick mow, blow and go, didn't call to say he was coming and ask what work I wanted done. He didn't run his business at all in the way he said he did. After six visits he stopped coming altogether. Blamed it on having to fire his employees. Said he would get Angie's list to refund my money but so far they have refused and he has refused to come back and do the work that I paid to have done. I will never buy another big deal from Angie's list because, even though you pay the money to them, they blame the vendor when the vendor flakes out. I would advise that no one ever purchase a big deal from Angie's list!!

I bought the service and he came out a few times. I actually have one of those ring video door bells where I can actually go back and count how many times he was there because it logs motion it detects to the internet. The last time that he came he said there was additional work to be done and I sent him like $65 thru pay pal.and then he just never showed up again. When I called and left him a upset voice mail re-called back and left a sob story about having to fire all his employees and that he wanted to come out and do more than what was covered by the big deal and essentially get paid again. I think in the future you should not allow anyone to do a year long service like this where you don't meter the funds out to them either quarterly or monthly. I have to say that I have been pretty disappointed in the people that I have found on angies list overall. I think your rating system should not be a single grade but some other way to show more detail.

They scheduled me to start biweekly lawn service in April. They can every 2 weeks (once it took almost 3). They just stopped showing up in July. I only received 5-6 visits from them of the 24 I paid for. I contacted Josh after 3 weeks and he said he was working on getting someone out to my house to cut the grass. After 4 weeks still no one showed up. I contacted Josh again and he said he could no longer service my lawn because he could not find good help. He told me he could only refund me $400 of the $999 I paid for. I told him that was unacceptable based on the fact that I only received 25% of what I paid for. I am asking for $750 back (or 75%). I have not heard from Josh since I told him I was not satisified with a $400 reimbursement and that was 2 weeks ago.

When I decided to go with montly rate on may 20th my lawn was really bad so I paid them for 3 hours of labor. I had quite a bit of work to do so I can join preffered customer agreement so they can cut my lawn every 2weeks for 55 an hour. He said he would call me to square things away. Contacted him before appointment to make sure I was on the schedule and he said that he had me down for june 6th but he forgot on the 6th he said I was on list but I hadn't paid, Told him to go to website but it was 75.00 but I was to have 55.00 rate so he told me to give credit card info over phone. Then he said that her fired someone. Whole week passed he said he would come but didn't come until 10 days later to come and by this time yard was out of control and he charged me 75.00 for 2hrs to mow my lawn. never asked him to do 2hrs of work. He said you haven't used me in a while. I told him it took you 4hrs to come out. I don't think I should have to pay because you couldn't come back. There was no mulching or nothing done. 150.00 is to much. It was not a lawn cleanup it was just a cut of lawn. He said he uses a self propelled lawn mower.

I purchased a special for $999.00 for 24 visits of lawn and yard maintenance. I was so excited that I was going to have my lawn and yard completely taken care of this year, and that I wouldn't have to worry about it! Well, all I've had is worry, and a yard that looks like a jungle. The owner said that he would come every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks with 2 men each time. He didn't come for the first time until May 3rd, at which time the grass was very high already. I paid an extra $65 that day. He would not come again without much calling and texting and begging. On April 19th I paid him another extra $65, because everything (grass, shrubs, weeds) was so out of control. He has been here a total of 4 times since my purchase in March. Since April there has been 1 person who has been here! The owner admits that he has not done the work as contracted to do because he has been 'slammed with yards' and has 'had a lot of employee problems', but didn't offer to make things 'right' or refund my money; he told me to contact Angie's List for a refund. I don't understand the 'employee problems' because he seems to get other clients' work done just fine, according to feedback. Maybe it was because I pre-paid? I have pictures!!

He came every other week instead of every week. Then he called me to say that it was too far to travel and he felt my yard was too big. He wanted to charge me extra money to provide the service he committed to. While I was on vacation, he left me 2 voicemails saying he needed to talk to me. He then said it was just too far to travel. I asked him for a prorated refund. He said he would give me a prorated refund. 2 weeks later he stated that he would not issue the refund and that I should contact Angie's List.

Up to the point where I asked for anything beyond lawn mowing everything was okay. The problems started when I asked from some plants to be planted, some mulch to be laid down, and to have some bushes trimmed. I was told I would have to pay $65 per hour because it would take them beyond an hour. I didn't think it would be problem. I thought they would have enough time. I offered for them to just do some small areas on one visit and do the trimming on the next visit. I never got a response. A worker came out today to mow the lawn. My husband and I were both home at the time and we heard the lawn mower start at 10:30. The gentleman took a photo, that was sent to me once I called, with the time on it saying he started at 10. I asked him if he was going to do the trimming. He said I would have to speak with his boss. I called Josh who rudely told me that I just kept asking for more and more and they were basically paying me to do this service. He then said that he would arrange a refund of $550 based on his normal $65 rate. The deal price would have them working for $38 per hour. According to that rate, only $269 has been spent. I should receive $730. The provider did approx 6 visits to cut lawn. One of those was an initial 2hr lawn clean up ( note here less than one hour as new build and not enough for 2hr) remaining 5 visits were approx 40 minutes. Have paid for 26 hours in total.

I had to wait a week before writing this review because I was so angry and I wanted to be fair. I would warn people against using hourly services unless you are there to monitor and guide work. I called ayg Thursday morning after finding them on Angie's list to get a quote for having a yard cleanup. Josh, the owner, stated they don't do quotes but just whatever gets completed in an hour time frame. I don't usually like that but thought I'd at least start the service at 2 hours and see what they thought when they got there. They send you a pic of your house when they start so you know they are there. That was great. Once they started the work they found out they couldn't get rid of the leaves in the gully across the street because there were workers. So they had to bag leaves. No problem but this will take longer and cost $1 a bag which they had to go buy. (This cuts into time btw) Also the whole process will actually take 4 hours more. I wasn't happy because the price was getting hirer than other companies had quoted me for the whole job. I still let them continue and reminded them to also weed eat the yard too if they had time. At the 5 hour mark the crew had packed up and was leaving when I had a family member come home. They asked if they were done and they said all they had to do was leaves. There was still an entire hill with leaves and a pile of limbs and another hour I paid for. I had to call josh and he said they would be back. 10 min later they were back but not happy about it. I spent another 10 min explaining to one of the workers that I had an hour and they needed to finish job including weed eating. They said they were only told to do leaves. So much for whatever you want in the hour time. They only did part of the hill because they ran out of bags. And left the hill messy and half blown. There were 80 bags that I had to get rid of or they would haul away at an hourly rate (likely 2 more hours) and they would credit me the 30 min because they left early. No thank you leave my property and don't come back. The experience was ok at first but by the end I was furious and while josh said that the guys were just ready to go home I understand but don't charge me a 6 hour day and then decide you want to go home. I would have been happy if they split it up. The worst part is josh had the nerve to text me the next day to remember to give them a good rating in Angie's list. I will say this. The leaves around most of the house were bagged. Thankfully waste management worked with me to pickup the bags. And we were able to get the rest of the yard cleaned up that Saturday.

Josh was very responsive with a quote for the work. The men showed up as agreed. They were very professional and did a great job. Our lot is not easy to work with as it has a major incline. They did a great job in a reasonable amount of time. Great to work with and very reasonably priced. <br />

The package purchased consists of 24 visits over a period of a year. Two workers are suppose to be available for one hour every two weeks, if more time is desired they will continue to work at a rate of $65 per hour. Three visits have been completed. The problem has been not showing up as scheduled and lack of communication. They were scheduled to arrive last Thursday. They never showed and never called. I called and had to leave a message. The response didn't come until Saturday. I was then told they would come on Monday. Again they didn't show up Monday and didn't call. I again called on Tuesday but again only got the answering machine, left another message. On Wednesday morning I couldn't wait any longer and did the work myself . I received a call later Wednesday morning. He claimed the schedule was messed up due to rain. The only rain we had last week was Friday and doesn't at all justify him not picking up the phone to tell me wasn't going to show.

i paid for a year's worth of yard maintenance at once to get a great price at $900. They were referred by a friend, and I read the reviews on Angie's List. The first visit needed a lot of work and haul off so I paid extra for that. Their work is exceptional. They don't include haul away bags in the price, so they will hound you to death for $2, which ticked me off big time given what I paid them already. Business sense could use some development....work of the teams is magnificent.
