I spoke to AV Consulting via phone and explained precisely what I needed done and they said they could do it. They seemed professional. Two people showed up at my house to perform the work which was to run speaker wire from our audio system to the kitchen, install our speakers, program a distribution amp for different zones and program our universal remote. After surveying the job, the person that was to run the wire under the house, said he had a bad back and was unable to perform the work. He left leaving Eric behind to do the programming. Eric was very nice to deal with, however, took way too long to perform the rest of the work which was only partially programming the amp and universal remote since they didn't perform the other parts of the job. The programming took 6 hours because he was not fully knowledgeable on the equipment I had. Since the wire wasn't run to the kitchen, I was now left with a large part of the job undone and a very large bill for AV consulting to educate themselves on my dime for work and equipment they didn't fully know how to perform.
Response from AV CONSULTING & INSTALLATION
"Hello Member has some misapprehensions which I found surprising, as he was there for most of the work, We did spend the time to inspect the home and figure out how to run the wires, and agreed to put that off for a return visit, which I tried to schedule many times, as my partner's back did start hurting him severely that morning. His system consisted of a Rotel receiver and a second amplifier for multi room distribution, Both are very sophisticated products, of which I am fairly well familiar with. I scratch programmed correctly a URC MX980 remote control to control all products intuitively and easily, and for multi zone functionality. However his Rotel receiver is defective, it's power on-off and 12v trigger functions do not work correctly. I attempted to program alternate codes sets in order to find if one such set worked. He had purchased the unit as a discounted display model. The other amplifier he purchased from another retailer is designed to work with electrionic volume controls in the other rooms which he did not want or install, does not come with a remote (it is ordered separately), or built in IR sensors. The only unfamiliarity I had with the second amp he mentions was not knowing which of the codes I did have in my library might match its functions- and was too late to call the companies tech support. I have several hundred IR codes for that brand and the it was unclear how to identify them properly in the supplied documentation, it was minor issue. Had the Rotel operated correctly, these codes would have been almost completely unnecessary. I also replaced a set of outdoor speakers for him at his request with another set he had. Additionally I included about $150 worth (in our price) in 3 Meter Monster Cable interconnects for the multizone audio. I did this because of the quality of the system he was putting together and the longer than anticipated time it took to deal with the defective power functions of the Rotel and the time it took to load and reload alternate configurations into the remote. I also did other function set ups and level calibrations on his AV equipment and amplifier, updated firmwares and made sure everything else worked correctly. At the last conversation I had, he had mentioned his own contractor would run the remaining speaker wires as they were already there doing other work. At no point did he seem unsatisfied with my work. I encouraged Member to get his receiver serviced as it should still be under warranty, and he seemed reluctant to do so. I am surprised at this review and have attempted to contact him. I always stand by my work, and the other reviews from my clients should also show this. The price we charged is a very fair price for the totality of everything done and the materials supplied. I am sorry that Member feels that I was "educating" on his dime. I have over 30 years in AV and have been trained by literally dozens of manufacturers and hundreds of hours of time sitting in seminars, classes, training workshops and hands on experience. Very Sincerely Yours Eric Gali Member, if you do read this, I look forward to completing or correcting anything you feel is required. I have stated everything above and is factually correct. EG"

Eric is great -- I have used him again and again, and constantly refer him to my friends. He understands all the technical details, and is completely service-oriented. He goes out of his way to be helpful and make sure things are working perfectly. He will also be a fierce warrior on your behalf if you ever have to deal with warranty or customer service issues. And he is able to get low prices on equipment. Eric gets an A+ from me... and I am a tough grader!

I got Eric's name from the contractor that was doing my remodel. Eric is a very technical person that is able to explain things in an understandable way. Based on my budget, room size and preferences he recommended some very good equipment. I ended up with a great deal from Ken Cranes on a 1080P 50'' TV, Denon Receiver, B&W speakers and an Oppo digital DVD player. Eric did everything from there. He pre-installed all of the wires (before the drywall was put in) and also ran phone and cable wires to the spare bedrooms. He programmed my universal remote, which was a huge time saver and he even went to Ken Cranes for me to return some ceiling mount speakers for me (that were the wrong ones). Eric does very high quality work, he is not the cheapest but if you want a quality job done I would highly recommend him.
