I HAD DO HIRE SOMEONE TO RE PAINT IT

This is my second and last time using Average Joe, the first time was on my parents home prior to sale. Joe did a good job. This time however was a different story he did a terrible job failing to use drop cloths over counters and getting paint on woodwork and furniture, repairs to walls and ceilings were not done well, and the paint job was lousy with sagging too heavily applied paint and drips and runs. DO NOT USE THIS PAINTER

Joe explained his markup for purchasing the supplies for us. What I didn’t count on was that after I paid for those supplies, Joe would keep everything not used up or nailed down. Each day, I was the one to call or text to see when he was coming. He said he would be there “first thing the next day,” but never arrived before noon. Joe and his assistant (Justin) left their cigarette butts on the ground and ash and sunflower seeds on the porch floor. Worst of all, Joe left large stain splatters over entire sections of the white vinyl siding and on the screen of the door. The edges of the trim boards were noticeably not stained. The deck and porch staining was uneven and the 4 screens were not stretched tight. Justin came to repair the screens and add another coat of stain to the porch floor and deck. I asked Justin if it was ok to apply stain given that it was predicted to rain. He said the stain “would soak into the wood and not be a problem.” Three hours later it rained hard leaving water spots on the stain. No one removed all the stain on the vinyl, or fixed the screen door. Joe blamed Justin and excuses were plentiful. Stupidly, I had already paid Joe $3736. Joe indicated that he “wanted to make it right” but wanted to be paid the remaining $170 beforehand; when I complained, the price increased another $100. After 22 days and disgusted with Joe’s argumentative unwillingness to accept responsibility, I dismissed him.

Joe worked diligently to first, prime the walls in order to cover the colorful patterns that were on the walls and then paint the walls and ceilings, so that everything was perfect. A dot of paint or two were left on the carpet but otherwise, perfect.

Day one he said he would be here at 8am and showed up at 11:15am. He never called to let me know of a delay, but responded after I both called and texted to day he was delayed. Day 2 he said he would be here at 8 am and showed up at 9am. Day 3 he was here a little after 9 for touchups. He told me that he got a 25% discount at the paint store so I had him pick up the paint. He did that, but then presented a paint bill adding in 25% charge for him picking up the paint! He did NOT fully explain his process, and I ( like an idiot) did not have him sign a contract. When we did talk about contracts ( after the fact) he told me that he did have blank printed contracts but that I was the only person to have ever asked. When I checked my walls (I asked him outright if he had painted on 2 coats and) he said that he had. I, however, found many areas that appeared uneven, which to my eye has always meant that only 1 coat was applied. There a were also areas that were not painted at all and he did admit that he " forgot them". An area that he mudded on a corner will need to be redone and I will end up doing this. Average Joe painting should really be called below average Joe painting!

Hard working and personable, Joe is interested in doing a quality job.

Joe did a great job with everything. When he was done with the paint and repair you would never know they were ever repaired.

You would never know there were any screw holes or marred walls or holes anywhere. Joe did a great job for a reasonable price, he was on time and on budget and he's a nice guy that is easy to work with. I would hire him again for sure.

This was a property owned by myself and two brother's so he had to work with three different personalities which was not always smooth going. Not because of Joe, he was great, we just had trouble deciding how much repair was needed before the listing for sale. He helped us work through the decisions and was very patient when work had to be added on.

Work was completed on time.

Amazing! Joe is extremely hard working, trustworthy and excellent at his job. I never had to worry about a thing. He went above and beyond in so many ways, helping me out tremendously. I cannot recommend his work highly enough!

I am "very" pleased. Mr. Day was always polite and professional, and took great pride in his work. He shared money saving suggestions and solved problems as they presented themselves. Due to the vast needs of my "money pit," I was concerned about going over my budget, but his fees were very reasonable. I plan to purchase additional investment property and hope that Average Joe Painting will be available to help me update, repair, paint, etc. I also plan to contact this company to paint several rooms in my home this winter. I recommend this company, without hesitation . .
