Company did a very good job. Work on both houses (homestead and rental property) was done very quickly. They kept the worksite clean and we found very few nails or other debris missed during the work. Our rep handled contact with the insurance company to make minor adjustments to what insurance was paying to make sure we received a complete, quality re-do.

Our roof had been damaged by a previous hail storm and then by a
windstorm, the insurance adjuster suggested a new roof. We were looking
for a roofing company that we could trust so we joined Angie's List.
After several bids from different companies we went with Barker, we also
were told by a local builder that Barker's had always done a great job
for them. The service was excellent, the work was excellent, and the
roof looks great.
They first came out and to do an inspection and repair a leak in our roof. They did a good job with that and installed a water barrier that they guaranteed. They only charged $385 to do this work. A few days later they came out and repaired some other damaged shingles. While they were doing this they even cleared a portion of my gutters free of charge. For this they just charged us their minimum service fee. They showed up very quickly both times and made things very easy for us. We would recommend them to anyone.

Barker had replaced the roof on my house a few months before I bought the house in 1994. This same roof is now 20 years old and the inspectors tell me it's a darn good roof. No leaks. Yay for the quality of Owens Corning shingles!
However, months after it was installed and I was in the house, it took many calls to get someone to come out and patch leaks - and I had three of them. The worker did not arrive on time and was unprofessional.
I recognize this info is dated, yet I vividly recall that experience and would not use them again!

Barker roofing did our original roof on our custom home that was completed in 2006 at a cost of over $100,000 for the roof job alone. Don Barker was the principal of the company at the time and was courteous, fair in pricing and did a good job. When our roof developed some leaks a few years later I called the company and asked someone to take a look. At that time I found out that Don had retired and that his son Keith took over the business. After an initial visit by an evaluator it took weeks and multiple calls to get someone out to actually work on the roof. Even though the roof was only three years old I was told that most of the work needing to be done did not fall under warranty and that I would have to pay for it. I reluctantly agreed. On the day that the repairs were being finally done it was raining hard the whole day which I had been told by the foreman would not work as the area had to be dry for the new caulking to seal correctly. Needless to say, our roof still leaked the next time we had a heavy rain. I called Barker roofing again and was given the run around for weeks. No one would answer my calls, return my calls and yet they had the gall to send me a follow up bill for completion of the work that was not done. Since our roof was relatively new and under "warranty" I could not just call another company or any warranty would be void.

I finally reached Keith Barker on the phone after threatening legal action and got him to come over one day a few months later to look at roof. He and his inspector got on roof and agreed that there were some areas that needed to be addressed that were not watertight that had been supposedly repaired while it was raining. He also suggested we get a gutter system installed and we agreed that he would give us a quote and then we would proceed. He took pictures of the problem ares on the roof and promised to send them to me.

That was the last I ever heard from Keith Barker. He never sent the pictures, never sent a quote for a gutter system, and never would return another call. It was clear to me that he has no interest in anything other than new roof big money contracts and as soon as the sale is over it is adios...He certainly had no interest in keeping his father's clients happy.

The house is 100 years old and they removed original metal shingle roof and removed shingles. They also installed 6" round gutters and downspouts. We are pleased with the workmanship and material. They were not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive either. We would gladly recommend them to a friend.

I did not have any problems with them when I used their services. They did everything they said they would do and they did it all on time and on budget. I have used them about a couple of years ago and I would use their services again in the future if I need to.

I found them through Angie’s List. I even had a coupon and so, I got $500 off. The price was $9000. I had written quotes from at least three other companies. I chose Barker not because they were the least expensive and by far they were not, but they seemed to have more knowledge of what to do. They gave me more information about what I should look for. They were able to acquire high level of shingles that I wanted to get. They were the best shingles you can get on the market, which is why the price was so high. It’s hail resistant. It qualifies for all discounts from my home insurance. So, I ended up choosing Barker for that reason and I am very satisfied with them. One of the interesting things is that they are a very large company. As a matter of fact, they do a tremendous amount of commercial work for apartment complexes and things like that. They treated me with great respect and kept me in the loop of everything. It was a very pleasant experience. They came and did the work professionally. They did have to wait for the weather because we started having rain. So, they couldn’t do anything, but they were very good about getting it all done. Since then, I have actually called them back to do some minor repair work. I had a branch come down and hit the roof and knock off some shingles. They came back and fixed that. They really worked with me on getting the stuff I wanted. They did a couple of things that the other companies couldn’t do.

Our roof was damaged in a hailstorm that occurred in March, 2009. Our insurance company indicated the shingles were a total loss as were the gutters. Being a procrastinator, I put off repair as our insurance company indicated we had two years to finish the repairs in order to secure insurance coverage. In early February, 2011, after a night of high winds exceeding 70mph, two large sections of shingles blew off the roof. This was our sign to move ahead and get the roof replaced – having approximately 5 weeks to do so before exceeding the two-year limit imposed by the insurance company. I contacted Barker Roofing at the recommendation of my neighbor who used them to replace their roof last year due to the same storm. Dennis Jordan, the salesman I was put in contact with, was super. First off, he was very helpful to ensure the exposed roof due to the wind storm in February was taken care of – even if that meant an intermediate temporary repair before the entire roof replacement. His estimate was in line with our expectations and with our insurance company’s estimate. Dennis worked with us on type of shingles as well as color for both shingles and gutters. Recognizing the “red tape” that our mortgage company required of us to attain the initial insurance amount, a minimal deposit was required to get the job started. His team took 3 to 4 days in total to complete the job. Throughout each day and at the end of each day, the entire perimeter of the home was free of clutter, trash, spent shingles, and of course, nails. In fact, if you didn’t look at the roof, you would have no idea that work was being done. We are very happy with the work that Barker Roofing did for us and would absolutely recommend them to others. Dennis was also a pleasure to work with and in fact, accommodated my schedule several times to meet at my place of work to review the contract and for payment.

It was very good. The only problem was that they took a long time between getting the bid and deciding to go with them and having them actually start.

Their level of communication and followup were far superior to other companies bidding on the project. The quality of their service in getting the job done was very satisfactory. I was selling the house, and the new owner of the house was happy with the new roof. The price was not the cheapest but was not the most expensive either. I liked the fact that they took American Express - I could earn some points too. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

It was an ordeal to get them to come out. I started the process in April and they sent some people out. Those people did not work for them anymore and then they sent some more people who had never prepared a bid. It took me sometime to even get a bid from them. Finally they came out to do the work and yet never got the bid. This took three months as they said the earlier people did not work for them. When they do the work they do a good job. It?s just that they are disorganized. I was happy with the actual work they did and their price was also good. I got a bid from them for another work, and I will use them for that as well. There were a couple of times the guy did not show up so they were not that punctual as well. The problem was with the sales people and not the workers.

They did a very good job. They came and covered the roof while we were waiting for insurance company paperwork. They did a good job, although there was one area that leaked- they came immediately and fixed it and a year later when there was another problem with that area ( 10 inches of rain in one day), they again came immediately and fixed it

There are many great roofers in this town, so pick another one! I've not been happy with the appearance of the roof as it is warped and wavy. Barker did not replace rotten wood to my satisfaction and used subquality pieces of lumber. They did not fully caulk in new wood. The drip edge was installed crooked along the side of the house. Calls and emails to Barker to resolve this have been unsuccessful. The owner was scheduled to complete a walkthrough with me but did not show up at the scheduled time. Quality is an issue and my guess is their warranty does not mean much since they won't return calls about problems.

Communication was difficult in the beginning, but they were pretty back-logged on jobs because of so many rain days. Once we got together, everything went smoothly. Craig Smith inspected my roof more thoroughly than 4 other companies, took lots of pictures and gave me an honest estimate, including the need to replace decking (which no other bidders included in their fee). His bid was appreciably higher than what the insurance company paid, so he worked with the insurance adjuster to get additional funds. The roof was done on schedule and done well. Clean up afterward was excellent, and he had another service come to magnetically sweep for nails and metal. Craig and all those who worked on the roof were great!

The roof was damaged after we had that hail storm and the insurance cover it. They were pretty helpful and the crew that came over missed a couple of things and we called them and they came back right away. I probably use him again. From the time that I called them, they responded fairly quickly, someone came over and did the estimate, and they got the work done with the insurance company. It seems like in a week or two we were scheduled and people came out and whoever was supervising the job came back out to make sure everything was okay.

Primarily because of the weather, the job had its rough patches. But, they did a good job dealing with and taking care of our tenants and resolving the problems promptly. They were generous in making our tenants whole for water damage caused by rain during the course of replacing the roof. The installed roof is beautiful - standing seam metal with not a screw in sight! The engineer and energy consultant that we hired for the project advised us, after completion of the job, that we received a superior roofing system, both in its construction and its energy efficiency. We're very proud of our building and its new appearance. It was a big job that only a few companies in Austin, if any, could have done as well.

They were prompt and the end result looks great. They cleaned up daily. I did find a few nails and cigarette butts after they were done but very few. The nails were all in unusual locations that I'd prefer to not pay the roofers to find. The sales guy estimated 1.5 days and the job took 2 full days. However it was 105+ during the job and the guys took a few hours off in the mid afternoon.

Barker was one of very few companies that responded and even then it took them weeks to get back to me. Once we were in touch they sent a guy right out to show me samples and take measurements. The project itself went very smoothly and quickly (two days), The workers were good about protecting plants and picking up trash etc. They did however leave a few items after they left. Mostly wrappers from lunches and soda cans. After the project was complete I noticed two problems with the roof. One was a bubble that had developed on the flat portion of the roof. The other was a ridge vent tile that had been broken. I called the company and explained the situation. The bubble was fixed in less than 24 hours. The broken ridge vent tile is still broken.
