Mr. Rice was prompt with appointments to determine the work and provided a timely estimate. His price was reasonable compared to the other companies that had provided estimates. I picked him because of price and what he said he would do. He seemed very knowledgeable on the requested work, promised to clean up after themselves, and said I would not be disappointed in his work. The work on the driveway was a two-day job that they rushed to complete in one day, which I believe resulted in the problems we are now experiencing. They did not leave the job site until well after dark. They did not clean up following their removal of concrete forms, which they removed approximately 5 hours after pouring the concrete. I hauled away three wheel barrels of excess concrete they left in the yard. The cement truck cleaned out the truck’s concrete chute in an area of my yard. Mr. Rice promised me they would also clean up that excess concrete. Mr. Rice and his workers did not clean this up and left that cleanup to me. Finally, they pulled up a sprinkler line and did not tell me they had broken the line. I understand these things happened and it only cost me $15 to fix, but it would have been nice to know so the sprinkler system would not be used. Mr. Rice claims he did not know the line was broken; however, anyone walking next to that area of the driveway to finish the concrete or remove the forms could not have missed it as it was sticking out of the ground above the new concrete pad approximately 8 inches. Within approximately 8 weeks after the drive way was completed, four areas appeared in the new concrete near the oak tree. These 4 areas began to deteriorate and break lose, like large divots. The concrete in one pf these areas had deteriorated to the size of a large fist. I contacted Mr. Rice who came out to look at the situation. Mr. Rice said the deteriorating areas in the new concrete resulted from them putting too much water on those areas when they were finishing the concrete surface. Mr. Rice said they would repair the area with a special compound and it would match the remainder of the concrete with similar color and texture. Mr. Rice said he would make it right. First, the bonding material they used for the repair does not come close to matching the concrete. I realize there would be some difference but not like this. The bonding material is lime green in color (the concrete is a whitish-gray color) and it was smeared beyond the repaired areas. They did a very poor quality job at repairing three deteriorating areas in the new concrete; the fourth area they did not touch and it will begin deteriorating soon. When repairing the large deteriorated area with the fist-size hole, they did not use a trowel to smooth out the material or match the repair to the surrounding concrete. This repaired area is lower than the surrounding concrete leaving a small depression and has swirls in it like someone tried to smooth it out with their fingers. The other two areas they smeared the bonding material over the top of the bad concrete without breaking away any loose concrete and made the smeared area 2 to 3 times larger than needed. They did nothing with the fourth area with a crack surrounding the bad concrete that will soon begin to deteriorate. I contacted Mr. Rice about the poor quality of the repair. Mr. Rice said he sent his guys out to do the repair and he would meet me to look at the repair. Mr. Rice failed to show up for that meeting. I contacted him again the next day and we agreed to a time that evening. He failed to show for that meeting. I left work early both days using vacation time. I called him again but he refuses to answer my call or return my messages. Although he had a reasonable price for the work, the poor quality of the work and its repair, lack of professionalism when there is a problem, and zero responsiveness for correcting the problems they created is far from acceptable. My opinion is he should not be an Angie’s List Certified provider.

Gregory gave me a good estimate after our initial appointment. He was prompt, did the job well and cleaned up after. Very good job at a good price.
