BUYER BEWARE Old Generator was replaced as contracted. Need to understand that GRE only installs the generator box. I learned the hard way that homeowner needs to worry about gas hookup, the electrical switchover connections and if the house gets enough power from the generator when you loose electricity. Getting the unit to function right required multiple visits which should have been done/tested during install: 0. After GRE installed the generator and said good to go.... 1. Gas company came to connect the generator - how can you say job is done if gas not connected and tested? Gas company just connects pipe they don't test the generator. Generator did not work after gas company left. 2. Install right size regulator on the generator - which GRE did after calling to say the generator didn't work. I was told they did me a favor by replacing it and that gas company should have done that. 3. Install internal gas orifice connector for Propane versus natural gas (this connector comes with the generator) - which GRE did during regulator install. Again I was told they did me a favor putting the right orifice connector on. How do you not know to do this during install with propane tank cover sitting 30 feet away from generator 4. Tests to see if generator worked. After multiple storms house power did not switch over. Had electrician out multiple times to test switch over. Switchover worked during these visits. However, after a storm, house did not get enough power. 5. Throughout the last 3 years each time we called with a concern about house not getting power after a storm we were told we needed to buy an annual service contract. To which we said no thanks we would get the unit serviced as needed. Also reminded that as long as generator turned on they were done and it was my problem. 6. Final straw was we contacted GRE stating that Generator Service light was on. Told it would require a diagnostic charge of $250 and if service was needed it would be an additional $450. I have the text from the tech! Paid the $250 up front. He shows up, proceeds to tell me it needs service and that he wasn't prepared to do it. In addition, he rehashes the last 3 years blames our contractor and calls me a liar about our experiences with the generator. Then leaves saying get someone else to service the generator. I consider myself a very reasonable person. I just want the $13,000+ generator unit to function properly after we loose power. Early on I was surprised by the attitude that It was my problem after the box was bolted to the cement. I appreciated BRE fixing the regulator and installing the propane adapter after learning the parts were wrong. But the professionalism went down hill every time I said I didn't want a maintenance contract. I was willing to pay for the service today but was called arrogant and a liar by the tech! Buyer beware.

They worked long hours and were polite. I wish they were more careful in installing the canned lights. They cut the holes too big.

Amazing service, Tom the technician diagnosed the problem during a snow storm and made the repairs in the rain. He analyzed and found the problem when other service providers failed --gave me options and best and worse case scenarios. He did not try to up sell the repair needs. The repair process was a delight. <br /> Now why am I so enthusiastic? <br /> Remember the derecho in July of 2012?---I lost power with everyone else in Frederick county---My generator came on and ran for 8 hours before stopping with error messages. I had a Generac repair service with a service contract---I called ---very busy ---3 months later could come out. Just a fuse --a few weeks ---error messages --Just a fuse ---ran a few weeks , battery is melted--YES melted, as in puddle of plastic--need new battery--we will replace its controller board ---ran a few weeks --battery dead and fuse blown- diagnostic is you have too many amps coming in your electric service ---Call power company ---6 months to monitor line to tell me line is fine ---no problems on our end---call generator service --we are busy can't be out for at least 2 months ---Frederick home show--another company --Told problem---Yes, sounds like X --OK come out and fix it---Nothing wrong except battery dead--Repeat 2 times---In between diagnostic by myself --will drain a new battery in 2 weeks and ---last visit nothing wrong electronically ( From previous no rain visit) previous visit so its your trickle charger cable ---but cannot look at it because it is drizzling (Still service charge though stood on porch and talked)--Will order part and schedule repair---4 weeks later ---what is status ---OH you need an electrician to do this ---we cannot do this ---can you recommend one--need tyo call back ---silence!!! <br /> So call Bear Rock after much trepidation and waffling Angie's list gernerac service providers --courteous service ---asked about problem---appointment when I could be home not their time ---snowing and nasty outside---brought own battery (no one did that before!) and tested --this is most likely issue--transformer --but may also be the trickle charger unit, but lets wait to buy it--not cable ---Before left had a cost , part ordered, paid in full---4 days later part in (not weeks) ---we can install without you being home if you want. Was home anyway--Raining , cold, nasty---on time --30 minutes later starts up --trickle charger unit OK. Tom--showed replaced transformer --a broken terminal to the trickle charger--Could cause everything seen since JULY 2012!!! as it got worse ! Now I am cautious --set exerciser and waited 4 weeks before telling my story ----Its still going strong! No dead batteries and it actually runs quieter ????? How'd that happen? <br /> I am very happy and Bear Rock is now number one on my list for electrical and generator service. <br /> <br />

It was fine, but they should have changed the oil and filter even though it appeared clean. Our last company changed it every 6 months. They also did some electrical work, which was good.

Chris was very nice.He disconnected the dryer from the circuit box and put a new outlet for the dryer on the wall from the circuit breaker. <br /> There was a problem with the information that I got from Home Depot .The outlet he installed was the wrong one.The plug was needed to see which outlet box was to be installed.He used the one he thought was the most common for dryers.Without the actual plug <br /> he had no way of knowing that it was not the right one.Another tech. came this morning and still had to go get the correct outlet. <br /> He said there are about 10 different outlets for dryers.Amana or Home Depot needs to give information on plugs when you buy a new dryer.They were so nice.Not their fault or my fault.Dryer is working now. <br />

I found their work to be extremely quality oriented and their staff very professional. Although they didn't do the lot service, they were just out last week to do an estimate on an electric generator. He brings his computer and does all the dimensions and pulls everything up on the computer and does a complete estimate. It is so professional. I would recommend them for any electrical work, and when I move forward with the generator work, it will be through Bare Rock Electric.

As a whole the experience was a good one. Nicole scheduled based on my needs and continued to followup with email. <br /> I wish I remembered the electrician's name that came out. He was patient and very informative. <br /> He accomplished the above tasks. The most challenging one was #4. He had to go into our attic, in a very confined space, to rewire and separate the ceiling fan and the light switch. I wanted to write this review now that they are on Angie's list. <br /> I have more work for them and will be writing another review when that job is completed. <br />

This company Rocks (pun intended), I cannot tell you just how relieved I am to have real professionals <br /> working on my home. They have serviced my equipment, taken lots of time to make sure I understand <br /> all the components to the system and how to monitor and test. Their pricing is very competetive and <br /> they are responsive to both email and telephone contacts. <br /> <br /> I am so happy with them that I have also used them to perform routine and non routine electrical work <br /> in the house. Again, I just can't gush enough. They found a problem that had been missed by others, <br /> problems that almost left me thinking I was the one with and quot;issuesand quot;! I was relieved to hear I was sane, that the <br /> problem existed and better yet resolved. <br /> <br /> They also took the time to evaulate the electrical system in my 30+ year old house. The electric in our house, which was built in the 1970s, has been acting oddly. This is the second time we have contracted Bear Rock Electric, the first time we weren't members of Angie's List. To clarify, our breaker box doesn't have a master shut-off, to do so we need to go out to the meter and disconnect the power there! This is why, when it involves electricity, we hire a professional. <br /> <br /> The electrician sent out, Chris, is very helpful in explaining what he is doing, what can be done to fix the problem, and alternatives that are possible. The helper/apprentice earned his pay running up and down the stairs as Chris cut each breaker on and off. <br /> <br /> This time we used them to trace the electric in the house, our panel is original and over the years it looks like the previous owners were 'do-it-yourself' types. The day started well, as Chris and his helper were on-time and they immediately got to work. <br /> <br /> There were numerous issues discovered, the worst of which is that someone cut/removed the busbars from the back of the panel on the lower section. This isn't something that would be readily apparent to the layman as it isn't visible. <br />
