Bear Roofing & Exteriors

I don't leave a lot of reviews but I couldn't help but leave one after my recent experience. We had a major wind storm a few weeks ago and a large piece of our siding was blown off. It was way up by the chimney and too high and difficult for me to get to. I called several places to repair the siding and to inspect the roof and siding for any additional damage. Bear Exteriors was the only place that bothered to call back. They came out quickly and Cody spent time fixing the siding and even took the time to repair a piece of the chimney that was loose. He also fixed several places on the roof where he noticed some shingles were coming loose. I was so impressed with the customer service. We will need to replace our roof and siding within the next couple of years and they will definitely be at the top of our list.

The initial work of replacing fascia, soffits and gutters was done professionally and quickly. For that they rate four stars. However, there was a repair that needed to be fixed. Repeated requests, over the past several months by email, text, and phone, have received little to no response. The repair is still not completed.

It went great from beginning to end. Greg and his team at Bear Roofing were always professional. We had several different construction crews work on our house. One for the roof, one for the windows, one for the gutters , and one for the siding. Everyone of Bear Roofing’s construction crews were great to work with. The work they all did was top notch! When they were done, it was like they had never been here. Not a nail, screw or any trash left behind.

Working with Bear Roofing was one of the worst experiences of our life. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. My husband and I had bought a house and the wood siding needed to be painted in order for the sale to go through. The sellers offered to put on new siding and pay a portion of it, so we agreed. They chose Bear Roofing to do it, so we had no say in choosing the company. Turns out the seller’s realtor and the owner of Bear Roofing are brother and sister, so it was very “convenient” that Bear Roofing was chosen. Under the terms of the sale of the house, we as the buyers got to choose the color of the siding. We scheduled an appointment and went in to meet with Greg from Bear Roofing, told him we just wanted the house to be the same color it is now and brought a photo of the house to show him. Greg said it is too hard to choose siding color based on a photo and he HAD to go to the house one day with samples to find the best color match. We didn’t really care that much, a simple beige color would have been fine. But Greg absolutely insisted. He said he would have something for us by the end of the week. Well the end of the week rolled around and we hadn’t heard anything from Bear Roofing. I called and of course Greg wasn’t available to talk so I left a message. A few days later we hadn’t heard back, so I called again and again, Greg wasn’t available. I expressed my extreme frustration at the situation- all we needed to do was pick a color! We were ready to do it at the first meeting and here two weeks had passed. The reception assured me they were working with the sellers to get a color picked out and everything would be fine. I then told her that we as the buyers were picking the color and she became very confused. She basically hung up on me and then a few hours later I received a message from Greg with a color choice. We then sent it to our realtor and almost immediately she responded and said that color Greg chose was way too dark. She said there was no way he actually went to the house and chose this color because it is way off. She said she would go to the house with her design team and pick a better matching color. Within a few hours she had sent us multiple pictures of samples and the color Greg picked looked nothing like the current color of the house. It was way darker! We ended up picking a color that closely matched the current color of the house and Bear Roofing was able to get the siding on the house before the closing date. We then moved in and the house looked great. However, we discovered that they took the window shutters off and never put them back on, which was disappointing because we liked them. They also took the address numbers off the house and never put them back on, so now we don’t have an address on the house and that is another expense we need to pay for. Also, now that the snow is melting off our back deck there are giant staples and nails EVERYWHERE, which also means that they did not clean up after themselves. So we will need to clean our deck free of nails and staples before people in sandals or bare feet walk on it. The attached picture with the yellow circles indicate nails or staples laying on our deck. All in all it was a horrible experience and I have no idea how they are still in business. I would never use them again and I would never recommend them to anyone I know.

Bear fit us in quickly and did a great job, all in one day. Replaced several rotting boards on the shed. Protected our landscaping and cleaned up professionally.

I have been working with Bear Roofing and Exterior for years, I am a general contractor and it is critical that anyone who does work for me is the best of the best, and that exactly what these guys are, above and beyond any of their competition. they have done dozens of projects for me, always quality work.

Based bid on a extremely poor observation, I pushed back on original bid and cut 35% out of the original bid price (removal of unnecessary items that Bear insisted on including). Crew was consuming alcohol while working on site (in the yard and on the roof). Debris and dumpster was left in garage, yard and driveway for 5 days after the crew had left. Very poor communicator. Would not explain things in a clear manner, expected that you would "go along" with whatever he said. Overall, from start to finish, an unpleasant experience and I would not recommend his services to anyone.

Bear roofing was great to work with. I needed to get my roof replaced as we were heading into winter and Greg was out for a quote and had a team working within 4 days. They were quick and professional and well within the budget.

The responsiveness was kind of slow. If you want to use them, come take a look at our roof. They are very professional.

The siding was completed and no one ever came back to do the gutter. Nor did anyone follow up with us. After a year we gave up on it and fixed the gutter ourselves. However, when the invoice finally came, about a year later, we were charged for the gutter. When I called the gutter charge was removed without question. The work that was done was done well, however, the lack of professionalism with the follow up and being charged for something was never completed was very disappointing.

Called at least 6 other roofing and exterior companies, who didn't get back to me or flatly refused the work. Bear got back to me, scheduled the work, and had great communication throughout. They were very concerned that I was happy with the work. I'll call them the next time I need some work done to the roof or siding. <br />

It went very well, they did a great job, very professional. The work was done on time, very pleased. Easy to communicate and work with.

We received quite a bit of hail damage to our home and contacted several contractors to assess the damage.  We hired Bear on the spot and they were awesome to work with!  There was a lot of back and forth between insurance and us and they handled it all and we never had to worry about a thing! <br /> <br /> The crew were extremely professional and efficient, no mess left anywhere!  They completed the roof in only 1 day and didn't mind being "supervised" by our 2 year old.  Our new siding looks great! <br /> <br /> We have recommended them to all of our neighbors, they even did the work for the guy next door to us on the same days as ours.  They will be the ONLY company we'll use for future services!

<p>I needed a roofing contractor to inspect my roof.  I contacted Bear Roofing and they answered the phone.  I didn?t have to leave a message and then be called which was nice.  Greg came out to inspect the roof within an hour.  I don?t know anything about roofing and Greg explained to me that it was a simple repair that I could do myself.  I would recommend Bear Roofing to anyone.  They are fast, friendly and fair.</p> <br />

<p>Bear Roofing and Exteriors was by far the most competitive from a price standpoint for replacing siding and trim.   I viewed one of Bear's jobs in Mahtomedi, which was a very high quality reside before signing the contract.   The job started in June 2014 and we found extensive areas of moisture damage to the sheathing, which was repaired and utilized ice and water shield and flashing to prevent the intrusion in the future.   Carlos and the onsite team were great to work with.   They listened to all my concerns and delivered a very high quality siding job.   There were a lot of details to the trim work, including use of backers and the end result was perfect.   There was a snafu with an out of town crew, where they were not watching levels on the siding and Greg Fry proactively told Carlos to redo it, which resulted in a day's worth of labor, plus materials.   They did a great job on utility openings, versus other jobs I've seen where blocking was installed and the siding fit around it.   Carlos and the crew also miters the outside corners and glued, nailed and caulked the joint - way better than the butt joints I had on the old cedar trim.  Caulking was generally pretty good. </p> <p><br /></p> <p>Also had to reroof the back slope of the garage to eliminate leaks that we experienced the day we moved in the house 21 years ago.   Elias was a true pro in determining that a metal pan installed by a previous contractor needed to be replaced, along with putting ice and water shield on the whole slope.   The roofing crew, including Rich, the metal pan fabricator knew their stuff and were very efficient in getting the work accomplished.   </p> <p><br /></p> <p>There was some damage to window screens and shrubs, which is the nature of this kind of work, but Greg had no issued compensating me for the damage.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>I have no hesitation recommending Bear Roofing and Exteriors to anyone.</p> <br />

Greg and his team at Bear Roofing did a great job on our roof replacement. The quote process was painless, the bid competitive and the actual replacement went as scheduled. The crew completed the work in the time frame indicated and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves - no excess nails that I have found after other companies have done roof work. Greg was easy to work with and his expertise was evident when he suggested a different shingle color. He was right -the finished product looks fabulous. I have already recommended their services to family and friends. <br /> <br /> <br />

They did a great job at negotiating with our insurance company which only wanted to replace half of the roof. They came out twice and worked with the insurance adjuster and were able to come to an agreement. The men did a great job and removed all nails from the property. It looks great.
