This contractor is not trustworthy, he does not listen to the customer, he does not supply high quality workmanship and is deceitful. He took too long to address the problem and they are still not fixed. August 2019, contracted a new deck with John Beaubien &Co August 2019. The salesmanâ s promoted a deck design, which we agreed on, and promised premium-grade lumber with a 1 yr warranty on labor and materials. Upon delivery of lumber, we noticed that it was very wet, green and very knotty. We were assured it was â the bestâ . The new deck was 14â x20â with stairs, cedar/aluminum rails. Total cost of $11,500 paid in full at project completion. We were told by the builder to wait 3-4 months to stain/preserve deck. Within 6 weeks, the sub-par lumber began shrinking causing major gaps and irregular cut lines esp around the seam of herringbone pattern. The knots began shrinking and popping out. We contacted John, owner of Beaubien &Co, immediately. John came and confirmed the issues and guaranteed repair. The biggest issue was the center cut seam was off due to the major shrinkage and was an â eye soreâ . It took several months to get on the schedule for repairs which finally began in August 2020. John came with a single worker, Luis, and guaranteed satisfaction, then John left. We noticed after a day of working, removing all deck boards, cutting and screwing down that Luis did not have the skills to repair our deck. He could not get the boards spaced right, could not cut straight lines and butchered the edges. We called John and asked to send someone else. While he said he understood, he did not comply. He sent Luis again the next day and promised better workmanship. However, Luis continued to butcher our deck even more. We then insisted that Luis leave and contacted John again, reiterating that Luis was not to return. Soon after that, unsecured boards that Luis had jammed together began to buckle up from the rain exposure. We sent pics to John. John agreed to do the work himself. We agreed on a date. However, before that date and while we were out of town, as documented by surveillance, John sent Luis out covertly, without our knowledge or calling for our permission, to work on our deck. Once again Luis ripped out boards, reusing them for the third time, to â redoâ the entire floor. Upon our return, we noticed the herringbone pattern altered, uneven and incorrect. We subsequently fired John Beaubien &Co. We are now faced with a $3900-4000 repair to completely replace and reconstruct our deck floor. The lumber had been ripped out and reinstalled 3 times and was no longer in first quality condition. Beaubien &Co did not deliver quality workmanship, quality materials nor sound business ethics.
