Rick’s team tore down our small (~20yr old) deck and patio and replaced them with something bigger and more durable. Here’s my honest take: Cost: Rick’s estimate was very reasonable (not cheap because you get what you pay for but lower than most). Rick provided us with options along the way but never pushed and there were times when he told us where we could save money. Schedule: Once the guys got rolling, things were done in a matter of weeks. Rick gave us an estimated completion date and his team nailed it! Quality: The amount of skill and effort that went into making sure that EVERYTHING was done perfectly is unmatched. Customer service: Rick is as straightforward as they come, nice guy and not overly complicated. He was often on-site to check progress/ workmanship and update us on next steps. He wasn’t put off by our attention to detail and he continually made sure that we were happy with everything. We trust Rick and his team and plan on working with them again!

Rick and his Before and After Home Improvement “All-Star Team” provided outstanding professional work in replacing the water damaged posts supporting my deck and the design and work to complete a stamped concrete patio, walkway, and front porch. Our property sits on a hill such that water from our neighbor’s yard drains into our own with some of it settling against our house under the deck. The deck was constructed about 20 years ago with part of the wooden posts buried in the ground. Although the wood was pressure treated, over time, the marshy ground had compromised the integrity of the deck support posts. We had contacted several contractors to request proposed estimates. Some were unresponsive. Others would not fully address our concerns about correcting the water drainage and adding additional concrete to anchor the new deck support posts above ground. Rick was by far, the most responsive. He listened to our concerns and based upon his 45+ years of experience, provided several recommendations for correcting the damaged deck posts and the drainage issues on our property. He gave us a prompt and reasonable estimate. His team went to work right away. We were so pleased with the results that we discussed the idea of the patio and walkway. Again, Rick listened to our ideas and provided excellent recommendations to move us to a beautiful design. Upon contract award, Rick’s team went to work immediately. Rick himself visited the site on a daily basis and communicated with us on the progress. When we suggested some changes, he was very flexible and responsive. All in all, we are very pleased with his work and would highly recommend his company for a top-quality product at a reasonable price! Ken S.

Disgusted Customers Rick Fisher d.b.a. Before and After Home Improvement I am only giving a 1 star because I cannot go any lower. If you want professional and courteous service that also includes communication about delays and crew no shows, do not hire Rick Fisher and Before and After Home Improvement. My wife and I hired Rick Fisher and his company in the latter part of June 2018, to build a stamped concrete patio; a small composite deck; and a pergola with the electrical kit for the ceiling fan. The project finally began on August 7, 2018, and was completed around August 28, 2018. We paid Rick approximately $26,000 in 3 timely installments according to the contract. We exceeded our budget on this project because we were impressed with the pictures of Rick’s previous projects and his reviews. “Don’t believe the hype”. It all started with Rick not being able to obtain the county permit for the pergola due to his drawing which lacked specificity to the dimensions and materials used so the structure would be able to withstand strong winds. Rick advised me the permit office required him to hire an engineer which I would need to pay for him to subcontract to provide that information for his drawing to resubmit to the county permit office. Rick never mentioned this to us before we signed the contract, nor was it stipulated in the contract. Rick’s solution was pay for an engineer or don’t do the pergola. I took initiative to contact the permit office and speak with the manager to arrange a meeting with her and Rick. She was able to assist Rick and get the permit approved without the need for an engineer which would have been at my expense. During the course of this project, my wife and I spent entirely too much time, energy, and efforts addressing issues with Rick relative to his lack of responsiveness and doing the job he said he would. These issues were within his span of control and frankly he failed miserably. The materials are of a decent quality, which is why the pictures look great on the web, however; the customer service, commitment to doing the job right is a serious problem. Rick says he only does one job at a time and he will be on the job site everyday to ensure things are done to standard. This was simply not true. Rick has a lot of projects going on and he rarely came by our home. He was not responsive to my calls or text messages regarding his presence and multiple other issues that required communication. Rick told me the job was going fine because he saw the pictures of what was being done. I demanded that he come by my home to physically inspect the progress. He came by and some adjustments were required. Rick does not give you specific days or times when he will come by even when you are requesting a specific day or time. I had to send multiple text messages and calls to get him to do what he initially said he would do. The project was completed on August 28, 2018. On October 7, 2018, I contacted Rick regarding the rust on the staples holding down the electric cord on top of the pergola. Instead of utilizing galvanized staples or some material that does not rust as a result of inclement weather, his crew used regular staples to hold down the electric cord. Now I have rust running along the top of this expensive pergola that we paid Rick about $8,500 to build. The electrical kit was an additional $1,500 approximately. Rick has not come by my home to take care of this issue as of yet. We have a manufactures warranty on the material but nothing from Rick covering us on the workmanship of the project. On October 18, 2018, he sent someone allegedly from his crew to resolve the issue, however; the worker was not prepared to resolve the issue and was going to replace the staples with more of the same staples. Complete Nonsense! I advised Rick this was unacceptable. The deficiency would not take more than 2 hours to resolve, but Rick refuses to come out and take care of it. It’s such a small job, I cannot get another company to come out to do the repair because it’s not feasible. One reputable contractor said he cannot believe the company who did the work did not have the professional common courtesy to fix the problem. In addition to this, when Rick’s crew excavated the yard to lay the patio, they were supposed to leave a trench sufficient for water to flow into the storm drain. Now we have standing water in the yard when it rains. The yard had a trench before they began excavating and we had no issues with standing water. It’s going to cost me $1,000 to have this problem resolved. Perhaps it’s all in the name: Before and After Home Improvement. Beware, you will need repairs Before and After Home Improvement allegedly completes your project!

Five years ago Rick and his team had completed a full rehab of our deck and we love it. Recently, a material defect occurred and Rick stood by his work when the manufacturer would not. At his expense, he got new material and provided the same great carpenters, (Skip, Gary, and Heracio) as last time and made things right. I highly recommend their work and am happy to share their name with everyone who enjoys our deck. Check out the photos.Thank you again.

This is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with since we bought our home 25 years ago.  The owner is incredibly professional and very easy to work with.    The crew took down the old deck within a matter of hours and began work on the new deck the same day.  The carpenters were terrific and they had the new deck done within a matter of days.  We were able to use the deck for our Easter Sunday company.   The deck is stunning.  It's larger than the old one, it's made of composite and the attention to detail makes this deck pop.    The owner paid a lot of attention to the structure in order to make the deck design easier for my husband who is recovering from a stroke.   I cannot say enough positive things about this company and crew. <br />

We feel like we hit the contractor jackpot!  Rick is very competitively priced but with superior quality workmanship.  He and his crew finished our basement- built 3 rooms with closets, a bathroom, utility closet, and main living space.  He ran cable and plumbed for a future bar.   I asked him to match all the details of our main floors so it would fit seamlessly in with the rest of the home and not feel like a basement- he hit it out of the park.  He matched our window/door trims and all of the crown molding.  It all looks fantastic! <br /> I also gave him a picture of a bathroom that inspired me and he crafted one that looks amazing- modern tile and finishes are right out of HGTV.   <br /> He is very responsive, professional, visits the site constantly to make sure work is on schedule and up to par, and very efficient- it took less than 4 weeks to complete.   <br /> You cannot go wrong with Before and After Home Improvement- he will be our go to contractor from here on out. <br />

No contract quote came close to Rick's after meeting with several different contractors.  More impressive is the quality of the work and his crew.  On time, every time, every morning until the jobs was complete.  When the county code became an issue, he quickly came up with a plan that would ensure the inspections met the parameters of the job and were acceptable to me. I seriously began to lose faith in the general contractor workforce for this area until Rick showed up. <br /> I can't say enough about the the effort, courtesy and expertise of Rick and his crew.  We already have him lined for future jobs. <br />

Rick Fisher has the best crew! And Rick is the best planner. Right from the beginning, Rick had the vision, then had an architect develop the plans complete with a visual so we could see what the finished product would look like. Rick managed the flow of work  superbly, (was on site daily and always available via phone or text) and had his highly skilled crew develop workarounds when the windows came from the manufacturer with the wrong pitch. He told us from the beginning that his finished product would elicit a "wow" and it did. We are thrilled!

Rick personally supervises all of the work his crews do and is a stickler for detail and quality. His folks showed up as advertised on each date/time cleaning up daily and finally to our satisfaction absorbing small changes and add-ons without complaint or cost. We're happy and satisfied customers who plan to do more with Rick!

The deck needed to be extended and reinforced in order to support the pavilion. Rick and his crew obtained the necessary permits, poured footings, matched the extension to our existing deck and put the pavilion up. The work was done to our complete satisfaction. We are now able to sit out when it is raining and the shade provided makes it usable all day long. The new pavilion looks terrific and several of our neighbors have told us that they have deck envy. Wish we had done this years ago. Would highly recommend Before & After Home Improvements. In fact, we are talking with Rick about doing some other work for us.

The crew arrived on time and completed the job on schedule. <br /> The quality was excellent and the fence was better built and more stable than my old fence. <br /> The gate they built was more stable but had a bottom frame that would make it difficult for <br /> me to roll equipment in and out of my yard. <br /> The owner understood my concern and had a crew come back the next day and re-built <br /> the gate.  The owner was great to work with and did excellent work. <br /> I would definitely hire him again. <br />

I highly recommend Rick Fisher and his team at RJ Fisher Construction. Rick is extremely talented but most importantly, he says what he can do and then does it. He has a great crew and the finished product is first rate. I worked with RJ Fisher to build a house 10 years ago. They did all of the carpentry, much of the tile work, and several other parts of the job. All of the work was completed <br /> efficiently and with extremely high quality. Other subcontractors on the job praised the work that Rick?s team did. As with all projects of this size, issues came up but Rick was great to work with and we remained friends through the entire project and afterwards. <br /> When I called Rick to build a deck for us this spring, he was here the next day to look at the site and gave me a hand drawn plan and <br /> price quote before he left. If you have ever tried to get work done at your house, you probably know how hard it is to get a call back in a timely manner, much less a quote. He had several great suggestions to make the deck prettier and more usable. He gave me a start date and said it would take a week and a half to complete ? he was on target for both.  <br /> During deck construction Rick?s team was here on time and cleaned up before leaving each day. They worked swiftly and were friendly to my family, our dog, and the neighbors. The finished product is beautiful and low maintenance with the composite decking, rail and lighting systems Rick suggested. There are many unexpected extras that enhance the finished product. We were doing a bunch of landscaping at the same time and the owner of the landscape company said he had never seen nicer workmanship on a deck. <br /> Once again, a pleasure to work with Rick!

Rick was great. He listened to what we wanted and showed us many alternatives which he had built before. But he didn't try to press us with his ideas. He recommended a stamped concrete patio instead of a lower deck (which we initially wanted) to save us money.  It turned out to be a great add to our back yard. I was going for a more expensive decking for the deck. He recommended a less expensive alternative and we are very happy with it. When the crew was putting the stairs from the deck to the patio, we saw that we didn't like the position of the stairs and asked him to change it. There was no arguing; he went ahead and changed the position of the stairs. Rick was very sensitive to the amount of detail we wanted to be involved in with the whole project and responded to our comfort level. As we worked the design of the patio, he had excellent ideas for making it fit into nature -- we have a lot of trees in our back yard. He also worked a severe drainage problem that we have by building two stone walls that fit perfectly into the landscape while channeling the water. His objective was to make sure we were happy with what was done, and we are very happy with the whole project. I would hire Rick again in a heartbeat.

The company owner, Rick Fisher explained the material and design options for the project and submitted a fair quote. Despite the delays caused by my HOA's approval process, Rick was patient and started the job right away once I got the approval. His crew was punctual and completed the deck in 4 days. Rick also took care of a couple of minor imperfections so that I was completely satisfied with the job. Overall good experience and would use this contractor again. <br /> <br /> <br />

Unlike a contractor we hired who just abandoned a current concrete project and taken our money and run, we were lucky with our choice in Rick Fisher. <br /> Rick was prompt, always answered the phone or returned our calls/texts immediately. Rick and his crew were friendly, professional, efficient, and eager to build our deck to the most perfect standards. <br /> We would often ask for his expertise and insight on colors, style, etc., and we learned we could trust and count on him for good input. We watched most of the time as the deck was being built. The crew took utmost care with every piece of material down to the proper nails. Rick would often stop by to assess the crews' work. We felt comfortable with them on our property at any time even when we were not home. They did an excellent job of cleaning up upon completion of the job. <br /> We think you will be as pleased as we were with R J Fisher Construction Co. <br />

The crew was prompt and meticulously clean. They worked around a severely handicapped twelve year old and a cat who sat on the sawhorses overseeing their work every day. They arranged for the school bus to pick up my grandson safely. There was no damage to windows, grandchildren, pets, or workmen. They took particular care around windows and all the nooks and crannies of an old house that grew as past owners needed it to. <br />

I was very pleased with the result. I was a little indecisive and the contractor was very helpful with helping me come up with a plan. He had really good ideas.

His workers were here Johnny on the spot. They worked everyday from 7 to 5 and got it done. They were respectful and did a good job.

Rick Fisher is a dream of a contractor! From the very first meeting he instilled a sense of confidence in his work and we were never disappointed. We had four bids on this job and by far, Rick's proposal was the most practical, thoughtful and inspired. His crew was made up of experienced, skilled craftsmen who clearly took pride in their work. Rick was responsive, dependable and easy to communicate with. We added over 850 square feet of outdoor living space and it turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined. Our back yard is now worthy of being featured on "HGTV." The superior workmanship, attention to detail, and high-quality finishes allow us to recommend Rick Fisher without any hesitation. He guided us through the process and made valuable suggestions but was never pushy. There were a few things we just could not afford to do this year, but Rick was very understanding. As a result, we will have him back next year, for a few finishing touches. Thanks to Rick Fisher and his crew, we never want to leave our backyard!

He and his crew completed the job in one day. I was not home to witness the process, but the finished product looked solidly built and I was satisfied. Mr. Fisher was easy to work with and very responsive to my requests. It was very important to him to make me happy. My only complaint is that they left a lot of debris around the job that I had to clean up.

He oversaw the project and addressed any concerns that I had. I was very happy with the posts and beams and I was 95% happy with the patio. The placement of the concrete stairs was the only thing that I was unhappy about. He tried to address the problem, but it was too difficult to resolve. Rick is very nice to work with. He is very personable and he wants to make his customers are happy. I was impressed with him and would use him again in the future.
