First, they took three weeks to respond, and even were a no show on one appointment. Then, they put the new posts straight through three pipes of our sprinkler system and broke two heads. When we called to tell them, the owner took NO responsibility and said it was not their issue and would not even come out to look at it. They were rude on the phone and could not have cared less about their work or our resulting problem. STAY AWAY FROM BEITZEL!

They put in a lot of crappy boards. They were the only ones that I found that replied that would put in the fence that I wanted. Most of it was very good, but, of course, on the far side of the yard I found lots of boards that were not up to snuff. Eight years ago they got the fence in. I wasn't there (when they did the work). I would use them again in the future only if I stood over them with a shotgun. They could have used better boards and given me a lighter gauge. I wasn't there for the most part and they were all Hispanic so I've got no idea how the workers were, but the contractor that was watching over them had no complaints.

When I described what I wanted over the phone, he approximated the cost in the $350 range, but would have to see the space in person, which I totally understand. We set an appointment. Patrick arrived on time. We discussed that I wanted it to at the top of the stairs, he said he would have to write an estimate based on measurements, etc., but that it would be more expensive because it required a second post and the gate needed to be fabricated. I understood. I expressed that I was hoping to minimize the appearance of it being a secondary add on. I was hoping that it wouldn't be as obvious. When we discussed it my understanding was that it would be closer to the existing iron fence - trying to fit it under the railing. I thought that there was a mutual understanding of this. It seems we left this conversation with different interpretations.
The estimate came back at $610, which I felt was high. But it seemed he understood exactly what I was hoping to do, so I went ahead with and gave them a 50% deposit. They were originally supposed to install the gate on March 27th. They pushed it back and asked to do it the following Friday. I said I wouldn't be there. They assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I should have known better. Lack of judgement on my part, which I totally accept. The gate is not at all close to the existing rail. It is not even centered to line up with the existing railing, which absolutely should have been done. Being un-centered gives it no hope of "blending in".
When I called to express that I wasn't happy with the gate. Karen, who I believe is an owner, did not even make any suggestions as to how the situation could be made right. I called back today and was put in touch with Patrick. He claims that he had no such understanding from our initial conversation. He was confrontational and then flat out rude and insulting. I told him that the gate wasn't what I thought it would be, and that Liz in their office had said that it had to be moved further away from the fence/rail to avoid a huge gap on the top step. I said that I guess I could understand that, but had I known I may not have opted to put the gate in. My big issue is that there was not attempt to center it and the whole gate - posts and all - wobbles when you move it with your hand with very no real force. I feel the cost is excessive for what was delivered. Then he tried to say that I wasn't there. I said that I told his schedulers I wouldn't be available that day. What I found really hard to believe was when he tried to pin the placement issue on another contractor that was working on the interior of our home. Patrick stated that this third party didn't know where it should be placed. My response was that wasn't his job and he was never asked to manage it. Patrick finally suggested that the post could be moved to be centered with the existing railing section. I was concerned that the hole left in the concrete would be very obvious when patched. He claimed that he could patch it and it wouldn't be obvious. I said are you sure because patched concrete is usually obvious. Then he said to me, "I don't know what you're worried about as bad as it looks back there with your cracked concrete." I cut him off and told him, "There is no need to be rude and insulting. I have been cordial to you. It is not professional, and I have already gotten bids to have the walkout painted." There is one small crack... he was overstating it. He was as unprofessional as you could imagine. I told him that comment landed him a bad review on Angie's list.
They have agreed to trying to center the posts, but I am not sure I want them to. I have not made final payment and will look into my options. I would never recommend this company.
Well, experience was okay at first. However, less than one year later, a portion of the fence that they repaired needs attention. The posts have become detached from one another. I contacted them in August 2014. They said they would send a crew out. No crew! I emailed in September for a follow up. They requested images of the area that needed repair. They then said they did not need the images, a crew would be out to fix. No crew! They emailed to say the rain on October 30th has delayed them, it would be the next week. So now it is November 9th and no crew! Would love to see a crew to repair before the area needing repair gets worse.
I purchased a gate from this company after meeting them at the Super Pet Expo, never expecting for it to take over 4 months to receive. I decided on a white gate, however what I ended up receiving was a black gate that was painted white. As a result of this, the black was showing through the white. I called and sent pictures to the owner and she said it would be re-done. Sadly, the same issue occurred the 2nd time, and I was then informed that they do NOT have the machinery that bakes the paint on. Karen (the owner) convinced me to cover the gate in a Brown textured paint, assuring me that this being a darker color with a textured look would fix the problem. (3 times a charm) Sadly, it did NOT fix anything, just more chipping and peeling. Throughout this whole process I was stood up for delivery, (on 3 separate occasions) with no one ever calling to say why or too reschedule. Each time that I spoke with Karen, I was given an elaborate excuse, 2 times being that someone had died. At first I felt awful, however the last excuse that I was given was that the installers wife had been in a terrible car accident. When I eventually saw Gerber, (the installer) I asked him how his wife was doing with her recovery, and he laughed and told me that she was never in any accident, and that she was fine. Upon the final delivery of my gate, it was damaged when being taken out of the truck. Gerber called the office to let them know, and he was told that no matter what, he was to leave the gate because I was to far for them to come back.(again) He now had to 'touch the gate up' outside and I was assured that it would be dry and perfect before bringing it into my home. Unfortunately, besides having an area on the gate that looked touched up, it was still wet and paint ended up getting on my carpeting. After all of this, the gate was then installed crooked, and when I pointed this out to Gerber, he said that there was nothing he could do because his drill had died. Even after everything was said and done, including telling Karen that I was holding off on writing my review for Angie's List, (hoping to have this matter rectified) she did not care. End result, my gate looks terrible, and I will need to have it re-done.

I asked to install a fence to replace an existing fence in our yard. The task was very simple. I asked them to install the exact same fence and the exact same size. They were prompt in coming to give an estimate and to install the fence. As soon as the workers finished, they asked for the second half of the payment right then and there. I felt like I didn't have time to even inspect their work because they were so eager to get a check. After they left, my daughter and I spent about an hour cleaning up the mess they left behind. We have to sweep mud/dirt off the driveway and evened out piles of dirt they left behind in the yard. I do understand that installing a fence is a dirty job, but one would think that the workers would clean up (at least make an attempt to clean).
Unfortunately, the real trouble began when I realized that half of the fence posts used did not match the other half of the fence posts. Some posts had a pointy top and some had tops that were cut straight across. I called Beitzel to let them know that the fence was installed improperly and was told someone would call me back. No one did. I called back and spoke to Karen (the owner). I told her the problem and she said she would order new posts and have someone come out to replace them so they would all match. A week later, still no call back to schedule the repair work. I called Karen back again. I had to go over the details with her again. Clearly she had not ordered any posts or had even begun to remedy the problem. She said she would get everything ordered and would call me back. Again, she never called and I had to call her back. Finally, she scheduled the repair. I arrived to my home when the workers were getting ready to leave. They said they had fixed the fence. Not true!!! Instead of replacing all the pointy posts with ones that are straight across on the top, they had cut all the pointy posts to be straight across on the top. Now, all the cut posts were shorter than the other posts. I asked the workers not to leave and I called Karen. She said they didn't have enough posts on the truck to replace them all so she told them to cut the posts. She didn't think it was a big deal that half the fence posts were now shorter than the other half. I told her it did matter. The workers replaced the some of the "cut" posts with ones they had on their truck and I was told they would return the following week to replace the rest. They have never come back. I am frankly tired of dealing with them and have not called Karen again to follow up.
Karen is VERY disrespectful and I regret ever doing business with them. PLEASE be very careful when dealing with this company.
They came early because I needed to leave to go to work. So, they came spoke with me measured and gave me a quote. At this point I was still shopping around so I called them back a few times and added a few things that I wanted added to my quote. Every time I did this they provided me with an email noting the corrections very quickly. Great choice! They came in quick and came home to a finished fence.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They use inferior materials and are un-responsive when there are issues. Beitzell fence installed a split-rail fence in our backyard back in 2005. Within 3 years, the posts were leaning with some even splitting off so that the only thing holding them up from falling to the ground was the mesh wire connected all around to keep our dog in the yard. We called them numerous times to come and repair the posts. Finally, someone came to inspect the fence and told us that there were some bad posts and that they had received word from the manufacturer that they would provide replacements as they were deemed to be defective. Even though it was not my fault that defective materials were used, Beitzell would only do the repairs if I paid for the labor of having the posts replaced. Since the new posts were being provided by the manufacturer, Beitzell actually ended up making money on the repairs. Also, I indicated that in addition to the 8 posts that had split off and were completely broke, that there were at least 8 others that were loose and in need of repair. Beitzell would not replace those. Fast forward a few years and now around 10 other posts have split and are practically laying on the ground. I can't even close my gate because I have to prop it open to keep the section of fence from laying on the ground. It's been fun chasing our dog around the neighborhood. Not to mention that fact that the falling posts are a safety hazard to the numerous children who play in my yard and adjacent ones. Beitzell has been completely un-responsive to any of my emails other than to provide me a quote of $660 to replace 8 more posts (covering the materials and labor). These are the same posts that they admitted were defective earlier and that I had wanted replaced. I've sent numerous emails stating that I would still pay labor (which frankly I shouldn't have to), but would not pay to replace the bad posts when they shouldn't have been used in the first place, or at least should have been replaced with the earlier posts that were damaged. This company is rotten, and I've been dealing with the family who owns it directly, and not just some indifferent salesman, so it goes all the way to the top. Stay clear of these guys.
"Beitzell Fence Company installed the fence in 2005, 8 years ago. There are many factors that play a part in the longevity of fencing, weather and outside conditions included. Our warranty is for 1 year, the manufacturer warranty is for 15 years. The proposal given in 2013 was for labor only. We're are sorry you are dissatisfied with this proposal . Please give us a call if you would like to discuss this further 703-754-0011."

Beitzell did a great job for us. The estimator was punctual and professional, and the price was $1600 less than the highest of four bids we received - for better quality construction than offered by the highest bidder. Our lot is not flat, so the fence had to run up and down hills and was very much a custom job - no pre-built panels. The work was done in one day, the crew was neat and hard-working, and the quality of the fence fully met our expectations. We paid half up front, and the rest after the fence was completed. I would use Beitzell again without hesitation - absolutely nothing not to like.
We had some issues getting the date of installation, but changes were discussed at least 48 hours out. On the day of work they arrived and put in the fence and did a good job cleaning the area. When I asked them to do some additional work they did with no issues.
Once we signed and were under contract, it was very hard to get a hold of them. I made numerous phone calls, messages which took days to hear back from them or get a hold of someone. They had scheduled dates they were coming to mark and didn't show. When they finally did the marking were not measured correctly for example the post was marked 10' away from the house where it should have been 22'. When I got home, I immediately saw that the marking were not correct. I made a few calls and they never came back out to fix their error. They scheduled a date to install the fence and said they will have it in the correct spots when they do the install. I took off of work to be home and not once did I get a phone call or update on them coming out. They never showed up. I called and they said they were not coming out, and that it was raining. Their office is a few miles away from me and it was sunny out. I was really disappointed in not getting a phone call about this, and lost a days of work. I wanted an explanation and was not getting anywhere. There was always an excuse. I asked to speak to the owner and was blown off. It wasn't until I blew up on the phone before I got anywhere to reschedule them to come back out. There communication is very weak, and I should not have had to follow up on them that many times.
The fence guys were great. When they finally arrived, they were a few minutes early and were done in a few hours! I had about 150' of fence to put up, board on board. They (3 workers) arrived at 8am and were done by 2pm. I had to call a few times to get my gate re-adjusted, and its to a point I will just fix it myself rather than trying to schedule them to come repair their work. A lot of the boards they used had knots in them and they are already falling out, and its been less than a year since installation. Overall, their price was great, however their customer service was terrible. Once they get you signed and under contract, I felt like there was a disconnection.

Very happy with Beiztell. They provide a quote promptly after contact and stuck to it. They were in and out in one day to remove the old fence and replace with the hew fence. When I arrived home I would never have known there were workers in my yard - they cleaned up so well, and didn't make a mess of the grass. The fence looks fabulous - time will tell if the wood wears well, but it is treated pine and looks good. The pool pump fence was a last minute addition to the job and they did a great job as they had to work around plumbing and electrical and slopes. During the installation they kept my husband informed and made to sure to ask questions if there were any doubts positioning, etc. Overall we are really happy with the work and with the people at Beiztell. Everyone was professional and polite. They were prompt in responding to questions and delivered on the date they said that they would.

Beitzell Fence (BF)showed up on time, did a pretty efficient job installing the fence and departed. Today, due to no fault of inclement weather or natural disater, the fence is leaning in several areas and on the verge of falling. Several of the posts that were suppose to be set in dry concrete are leaning very badly. My investigation revealed that those post were never set in concrete. I contacted BF and informed them of the problem and was told that someone would investigate and get back to me. Several weeks and emails later, I was emailed a additional bill of 500 plus dollars to correct the problem.

For the record, I want to be fair to BF. I am outside of the warranty period and I am not sure if BF is responsible. The problem that I am having is with communication. It is difficult to get anyone from BF to converse with you on the subject and find a mutually acceptable way to resolve the problem. Phone calls are not returned and emails are not answered. It is frustrating doing business in this manner!

We have been very disappointed in the level of communication from Beitzell on when the work will be done (from one of the owner's no less), when the parts will be in, and heck, just getting phone calls returned in general. Their communciation, organization, and customer service skills are greatly lacking. While I know the fence will be fine when finished, getting it finished is very stressful for us and for our dogs that have been waiting to be outdoors. Not to mention the additional costs we are incurring for a mid-day dog walker.
Response from Beitzell Fence Co
"We installed the member's fence on October 18, 2011. We installed the entire fence except two sections, because we had to order new sections due to the slope of the ground near the side of the house. The sections that we had would not have been installed correctly if we would have installed them instead of ordering different sections. We ordered the new sections on October 20, 2011. Then we went to their house again and installed the new sections on November 10, 2011. They made the final payment on November 22, 2011. The final price for the fence was $4562.00 not $4900.00. We have not received any phone calls or e-mails from the members since they made the final payment. Their fence has been finished since November 10, 2011 and the balance paid off since November 22, 2011."

They were good. The guys came in and did the work in one day and put in about 200 something feet of fence in a day. The only problem we had with them was that they left some stuff undone after that first day. They pretty much finished the job, but they didn't put in the post caps. They were hard to follow up with when we tried to get in contact with them. It was simple stuff that they had to finish and we wanted the job done before we paid them. It took several weeks to get that all resolved. They were good at doing the job in general, but unresponsive in tying up the loose ends. They scheduled me for the installation on one day. I took off from work so I could be home and they canceled on me at the last minute without any real explanation. They did come the following day. I had taken the day off from work to be here. That was a little disappointing. The guys that came in and did the work were great. They were just the typical guys who do that kind of work. I am not sure if I would use them in the future. I might look elsewhere first if I had to get a fence put in. I wouldn't dismiss them. I would go back to them. They did ultimately get the job done and they did a good job putting up the fence.

They were really good about the workmanship but the billing was weird. We couldn't get our billing resolved. We kept trying to pay them and they would never get back to us. We paid half up front and couldn't get hold of them to pay the balance. They finally called to find out why we hadn't paid them so we got it resolved. They did good work but I'm not sure I would use them again.
