It went very well. It looks very nice! It's basically a guesthouse now, and we couldn't be happier with it. Cathy, the owner, couldn't have been nicer. The crew was always on time, professional, and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. I would definitely recommend them.

They were very responsive. Most contractors said it would be up to 4 to 6 weeks to even give me an estimate or did not want the job primarily because of the stucco work. Benchmark looked at the job and had estimates to me within a few days. They had the work done in a matter of weeks. They provided some good ideas for doing the project, e.g., replacing the tile with a tub surround which would mean less matainence for a rental. They also replaced a large trim piece along the side of the house that had been damaged by termites at no extra charge. They matched the stucco pillars superbly. The work was of very good quality and they were very responsive, including doing a walk through when the work was done. I have already recommended them to other people.

Benchmark was a real joy to work with. From start to finish they were very good and they do quality work. Friendly staff and Cathy is a real pleasure to do business with. I will be hiring them again in the very near future.

BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS never fail to deliver! I absolutely love the work they did installing my new Hardy Plank Siding. Hardy Plank can be a pain to put up because it's heavy AND fragile. The guys worked 5 days a week from 9:00-4:00pm breaking only for lunch. First, they removed the 25 year old wood that had rotted in some places on the house. Then they repaired the exterior wall siding over the fireplace. All the old guttering was removed from the house as well. New insulation was installed on the house. The guys followed Hardy Plank Siding guidelines during installation, making sure the siding stayed dry and free from moisture. During this time, I noticed a neighbor was also having her siding installed and in 2 or 3 days it was complete (and it didn't look so hot). BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS installed my new siding over a 2 week period. They took their time because quality matters to these guys. Quality of work is always more important than speed. That's what I love about these guys. You might pay a few extra bucks but the end result is ALWAYS worth it! I took several pictures of the exterior of my house and posted them. One look and you can tell my guys are professionals. Several months after my siding was installed, I drove to the old family farm in eastern Iowa. As luck would have it, I secured a beautiful set of old French doors from the farmhouse just before an upcoming demolition. I brought the doors home, leaned them against a bedroom wall, then called John Butler from BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS. I explained to John that I hit the jackpot and now I needed a hole cut in my bedroom wall to install these awesome French doors! Naturally, several questions come to mind whenever someone wants to cut a big hole in the wall. So John came to the house to check out the doors and assess the project. John indicated that the French doors were interior doors...but I wanted to use them as exterior doors (going from the master bedroom out into the back yard). I could visualize how beautiful these doors would look once they were installed in my master bedroom. Desperate, I looked at John and said, "do whatever you need to do John, but can you just make them work? Please???" And John Butler from Benchmark Contractors did just that! First the guys had to remove some of the new siding (sorry about that guys) and cut a new hole in the wall. I didn't have the original door frame, so they had to construct a new door frame. They installed the French doors and, in order to make them work in the bedroom, they added a set of custom made winter storm doors. The screen doors were made to match the narrow French doors. The paint on the exterior of the storm doors matched the new trim paint on the exterior of my house. I was totally pleased with the quality of the doors and the entire installation. The cost of the James Hardy siding for my house was $11,000. BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS installed the new siding and they built and framed-in my French doors from the family farm for $9,450. They siding is top quality and so was the installation. I do not anticipate ever having to replace it again. If you want average work, call your regular go-to guy. But if you've got a special project and you want it done right the first time, then call BENCHMARK CONTRACTORS located in Topeka, KS! <br />

Great communication. I handled this remotely for my elderly mother. John went out to her house and called me with the estimate. His team did the work as scheduled. They were patient when the supplier of the new counter couldn't locate it when they went to pick it up. My mother was pleased with the work. They cleaned up after themselves. They billed for the exact amount of the estimate. I would use them again without hesitation, and recommend them without reservation. <br />

They built a 20*20 addition to my home. It was excellent work, I couldn't believe how well everything turned out. They are very professional and I would recommend them to anyone. I am so pleased with how everything worked out, I am thrilled with what they did for me. For what I had done I couldn't believe how reasonable for them.  I have already hired them to come out for another project I have.

It's hard to find a good contractor AND good workers for small projects- but if I want to build a bank, they're knocking down the door! As a single women, there are some things I can (and enjoy) doing around my house, but for other things, I've got to hire it out! I need to know who to call if my windows need replaced or if I need new siding on the house and the list goes on... I was SO relieved to finally find the guys to call! Benchmark Contractors is located in Topeka, KS but they gladly come to Lawrence to meet your building needs. SCORE! I truly enjoy working with the guys from Benchmark Contractors! I had them remodel the inside of my house a couple years ago and I am STILL getting compliments from that job. I'm a satisfied (3 time) customer and I have only praises for these guys. They were here on time each day (except when it rained) and breaked only for lunch. Every guy has their specialty or assigned jobs and ALL the guys do exceptional work. Everyone on the project (2-4 at a time) get along well together and respect each other. Anytime I have a question, I'll ask one of the workers or call the contractor, John Butler, who responds right away. I appreciate his promptness because even though I asked some crazy questions, I still need answers. No matter the question, I feel totally comfortable asking any of them as they arise. When they come in to do a job, they bring all the materials, tools, and workers. They work continuously every day and all day until the job is done. These guys don't leave your project for a week or two to go work on another job while you wait for them to return. THAT'S a big deal to me and I don't have the patience or sanity to tolerate the chaos. And when the job is done, they clean up, wash off and clear out. Recently, I had several people in the neighborhood compliment my choice of siding and the installation. Benchmark Contractors were beginning their third week of installation when one neighbor approached me. She said her siding was installed in three days and another said his was installed in one week... What kind of craftsmanship happens in three days? Five days? NOT MUCH I'd say! You can DEFINATELY see a difference between my installation and other installers. For pete's sake, my neighbor pointed out that her installer NEVER bothered to install siding around her chimney on the roof! How do you miss that?! And now... the guy is out of business. Bummer! In sum, I wouldn't use anybody else for my building needs. You can, but I wouldn't advise it. If you want QUALITY work, done by guys with experience (and dare I mention INTEGRITY), then you'll want to call John Butler at Benchmark Contractors! You'll be glad you did, trust me... <br />

As far as John's part of the job was concerned everything went great. He did what he told me he was going to on any given day. His crew was wonderful, they began to feel like family coming and going as they needed. They were very clean about their work ,always on time, and seemed to really enjoy their job and working together. That's really refreshing today when so many people complan about who they work for and those around them. <br /> The last items to be put in were the cabinets,however they were delayed from the builders side and wouldn't be in Topeka for several days.So to help us out John had his crew build us make shift counters so that we could us the kitchen,( stove, sink, and have a bit of storage)untill or cabinets came in. <br /> When they finished their job Joe was the last one out, the house was so quiet, but not five minutes later he was again with a carpet cleaner in hand and shampooed. I was just dumb founded. but, that's the type of service they provide. <br /> We are so happy with our new kitchen, it's beauitul. We couldn't be more pleased with John and the guy's. We'd recommend John Butler to any body. <br /> Thank's John and everybody. <br /> .. <br />
