Benchmark Door

I was looking for a new garage door within the year but I needed one immediately after knocking the bottom half of my garage door off the tracks. I called and spoke to Jose and he said he would come look at it within the hour. He arrived about 45 minutes later and just as I thought I needed a new door. He took measurements and said they would be able to install a new door that same day. Later that afternoon Jose (a different Jose) arrived and took off the old door, frame, wood around the door and spring. He completed the job in about 2 1/2 hours. I asked how long he had been doing this type of work and he said 20 years. You could really tell! I was impressed by his workmanship and attention to detail. I was a beautiful job. I will use Benchmark in the future for any work involving my garage door or openers.

<p>So, Benchmark Door was great at first.   Found them right here on Angie's List.  Based on their good reviews, this company owner used them once for his house, and then again for one of our clients. </p> <p>Initially, they were responsive and came out and did the work.  We paid them upon receipt of the invoice.  The check was never cashed.  They again requested payment.  They were told that the bill was paid and we referenced the check number, date and invoice number...but they claimed to never have received the check.  We paid the invoice again, assuming the check was lost in the mail - that happens sometimes.  We did not put a stop payment on the first check, as that is an additional bank fee on top of the $120.00 payment.  (If lost, why bother, right?)  Well...the second check was applied for payment and a week or two later, SO WAS THE FIRST CHECK!  Invoice numbers were referenced on both of the payments and were the same, they simply took the additional payment.  Now, we have a $120.00 credit with them which they apparently have no intention of giving back.  </p> <p>I have attempted to get this overpayment back numerous times!  They NEVER answer the phone.  I ALWAYS leave a voicemail.  They NEVER call back.  I have emailed multiple times, to multiple addresses, and used their online "contact us" form.  They NEVER email me back. I have given very specific information - check numbers, dates, and their invoice number - yet they simply will not give us our money back!!! </p> <p>We have numbers of clients and we have the potential to give them a lot of repeat business.  Prior to this duplicate payment becoming an issue, there were even times where we called to request service at other locations, and they didn't call us back then either.  </p> <p>Clearly, they do not need nor want any business.  I recommend you don't give them yours either.  Its a shame.  Maybe this is a case of a small company getting slammed due to initial good reviews on A.L...but their level of unresponsiveness and lack of professionalism is astounding.  </p> <br />

<p>Benchmark was punctual, and repaired the broken spring on the 16x8 overhead door. informed them that one of the lights was not</p> <p>working on the opener. They checked it out and repaired the socket. Greased and adjusted all doors. They were very professional</p> <p>and the total job did not take them more than one hour.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />

Benchmark returned my initial call the same day and came out the next day.  The springs were replaced in about a half hour and the technician took the time to lubricate rollers and hinges.  I would not hesitate to recommend Benchmark. <br />

I had to contact them initially to get the estimator out. Once scheduled, it went well. The installer was awesome! <br />

All went as promised. The technician arrived within the specified time and was very informative and prepared. All work completed in a timely and professional manner.

Our torsion spring over the weekend. On Monday morning Benchmark Door called me back to ask about my service needs as well as answering my questions. They also provided me with a ball park quote. On the day of service an unforeseen circumstance arose which delayed their arrival. However, I received several phone calls communicating what was going on, a new arrival time, as well several apologies. When the technician arrived, he was friendly and professional. He double checked what services I was seeking, gave me estimate for the amount of time it would take to complete the job and then went right to work. I will continue to use Benchmark Door for my garage door service needs.

Tina(I think that was her name) returned my call and set up an appt for the next day.  She was very kind and professional.  Jose came during the timeframe decided upon and was very knowledgeable and professional.  He was also quick, but the work was quality - he definitely knows what he is doing.  I would not hesitate to call them again, top notch! <br />

John promptly returned my call and we set up an appointment for the next morning to have him take a look at my garage door opener which was not working correctly.  John was able to figure out immediately what was wrong and got the opener working in about 5 minutes.  Since it was such an easy fix he helped me reprogram my opener and also serviced the garage door.  He noticed that when the door was manually lifted it was quite heavy.  He asked me if I had the spring replaced recently and I said yes...about a couple of years ago.  He adjusted the spring and then oiled all the hinges.  Great job.  Highly recommend John for the great work. <br />

super easy from initial call to installer driving away when complete.  the installer was very professional and clean.  He was in and out very fast and everything works great.  I'm a local contractor and will recommend this company to all my clients. <br />

according to my wife, <br /> They responded quickly, looked at the door and quoted a price (I think around $75.00 or so).  The service guy fixed the door, greases the rails, repaired the door opener light, checked the tension.... <br /> then he started to wash the cars and wanted to vacume the house, <em><strong>just kidding...</strong></em> <br /> The serviceman took great pride in his work and attended to the little things as a matter of course. <br /> Super company to deal with. <br /> <br />

Everything went very well.  Showed up on time and explained everything after it was done and cleaned up all the mess.  I decided to get the doors with windows on the top and it makes such a big difference on how nice the house looks.   The windows don't cost much (approx $325.00 total )  and really worth it.  My doors are the best looking ones on my block. <br />

Entire experience went great. Started with my initial conversation with the owner. He explained everything very well. I thought I would need a new garage door opener, he explained that all I needed was a repair, which was considerably less expensive. The repairman was very polite, and professional. I left an email on Monday night and didn't get a response so I called the next day just in case my email didn't get through. I talked to John and he was great. Gave me an estimate over the phone and was out the next day, which was huge for me since I was leaving for vacation that evening after work and had somebody house sitting. John showed up within his scheduled time slot and did the job as he said he would do and even worked around my Corvette that my wife was afraid to move. The only reason I didn't give them an A for quality is that I think the springs that were on the door before were more heavy duty and the door doesn't seem to go up as fast as it did, and I should have requested a heavier spring. I will recommend them as well as call them in the future if I have any garage door needs. <br />

Removed old opener and installed new one - the old one was too noisy.   This was after I had him come out once only to find out that I did not have the extension that was needed.   He came again after the part I ordered arrived.   Very fast work and perfect.   He must have lubricated everywhere on the door because everything is extremely quiet now.   I would definitely use them again. <br />

They came the next day!  George arrived first thing in the morning, precisely on time...he quickly and efficiently repaired the door and checked the other door.  So pleased! <br />

I obtained several quotes. Benchmark was at least $100 less than the 4 other quotes for the same door with windows, t-handle/lock, and installation/disposal.  I received a call back from John W. within 30 minutes of my initial voice mail at 4:30 on Good Friday which was totally unexpected. The following Tuesday morning I called him to say we wanted to go ahead. He came out around 4:30 that day for measurements and to sign the paperwork. I wanted a Saturday appointment since my husband would be home  to remove some canoes and kayaks we stored in the garage so the installer could access the garage door tracks. John was able to schedule us for that coming Saturday morning. He would have been able to come within a couple days if that would have worked for us. On Saturday morning the installer showed up promptly. My husband had a slow start that morning and had not moved much out of the garage by the time the installer arrived. The installer was able to work around everything (which my husband's choice, not something Benchmark recommended just in case a tool got dropped on our kayak). The job was done within a couple hours, the old door and parts were hauled away, and it looks and functions great. <br /> John is very nice, professional, and did not pressure me into buying something I didn't want or need.  Overall the transaction went very smoothly from start to finish. I would highly recommend Benchmark for a garage door installation. <br /> <br /> <br />

The spring broke on our garage door and would not open, trapping the car inside. Benchmark came over the next day and opened it for free. They gave us a reasonable quote on a replacement door which we will be calling them about soon.

I called Benchmark for an estimate on installing our Chamberlain opener. After providing a quote, and informing they were very familiar with the Chamberlain system, I set up the appointment. They tech arrived on time at 8:00 am. Benchmark's installation process of a new opener includes replacing the wiring, lubing everything and testing the spring and rail systems - quite a thorough job for the price I paid - $145 for that portion. He informed me that the spring someone else had installed about 5 years ago was not the correct one and then showed me how it wasn't strong enough to hold up the door. This is probably why my previous opener was giving us problems and wore out. And, as I suspected, he confirmed the wrong spring would cause my new opener to work harder as well. After giving me a quote to install the correct spring (very reasonable, BTW - $125 part and labor), he went through all the aspects of our new opener and showed me everything he did. He also hauled away the old opener. <br /> I am very pleased with my experience with Benchmark and the work performed. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to have any type of work done to their garage door system. Great work and pricing.  <br />   <br /> <br /> <br />
