Poorly. We bought an Angie's list deal for $75 towards a job. Since it was such a simple process (I probably could have installed myself?) I figured it couldn't cost much more. The Techs told us we needed to change out the line for a different size one and that the job would cost $650. WHAT!!! I asked how long it would take and what were they basing the price on, and they said they just price by the job. I knew that was ridiculous because the filter was designed for a standard line size like ours. Seemed like a scam so I sent them on there way. Well, Long story short, Scam confirmed when I hired another plumber to do a different job, and he hooked up my filter lickety split, no line change, and didn't even charge me for the work. DO NOT use these guys without an estimate in advance. I lost $75 and it gives me pause to use other Angie Deals, But I learned my lesson.v

Kalka sent one of their best serviceman out, Brandon by name. I've had him come to the house before and he is an exemplary example of know how and customer courtesy. He doesn't describe a need for services other than what you need. He performs all the tests, goes over in detail all the check listed requirements he is meant to perform and asks if I understand things completely. If there are suggestions for added maintenance he makes them as suggestions vs. dire warnings. His service allows me to feel secure in the work and in the transactions. I have no reservations in recommending this company and Brandon in particular.

Talked to Kevin, the owner who answered the question if a water expansion tank needs to be pressurized prior to installation (Yes, at least to the incoming line pressure, 2 other plumbers said No, that tanks are already pre-pressurized)..He got the job. Sara did a nice quote on the price. They sent Ryan to do the install along with the team changing all the angle stops on my fixtures (I and them were able to twist the handles off the existing "home depot valves" in a home 12 yrs old. They also replace with a much heavier duty, Wolverine Brass quarter turn valve. These guys used booties in the home....nice. I was shown the hard water deposit and decided to add a Halo5 system. Ryan did a really clean install, that required pipes entering one side of the garage and the tank being placed on the other corner, for best placement and drain. He spent time aligning the pipes, added a door panel where the garage wall was cut for pipe splicing and even spray painted the copper pipes...to not look obvious....talk about going the extra distance.

They did a good job at removing and installing the new fixtures. The problem was there were multiple leaks with lines not being installed correctly. I took the lines off and used teflon tape to stop the leaks. I could not stop one of the leaks so had to call the company to have someone come back out and fix the problem. The were very responsive if correcting the problem. If the problem was not resolved I would have given a much lower rating. I was disappointed at had to do anything at all to correct the problem with a $565 installation fee. I shouldn't have had any problems at that price.

I called them to flush out my water heater. It was discovered that there was a lot of rust (it was an old heater). It was suggested that I have it replaced. They replaced it and that went smoothly.

Response was prompt, and everyone was polite. The plumber took a long time finding the replacement valve, which is a generic MOEN valve and hadnle. Labor was about 1/2 hr. I find the cost very expensive for the valve replacement. $649.00 is too high for the valve replacement. I would not use the same plumbers again.

The plumber came in and took care of budiness. Completely repaired the burst pipes by replacing them with high grade brass. The contractor came in and sked who did the plumbing; I responded," benjamin franklin" the contractor replied he performed a very high quality repair/replacement of pips and fixtures. Nothing like a vompany who perform quality high standard work the first time because. High integrity and craftsmanship is the standard for all wotk done.

Very professional team. Lawrence the plumber was very respectful and knowledgeable: put slippers over his shoes, explained procedures thoroughly to me, and even cleaned up my tub after unclogging my drain. Wow! He also replaced 2 shut off valves under my sink that were frozen or leaking. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because the pricing is higher than I expected and I think the pricing should have been discussed before any service was started. The pricing for the valves were discussed but only after my drain was already cleared. So I was already stuck with a service charge I thought was too expensive. It's always best to take the initiative and ask first before anyone is sent out. However, this company will get the job done right. The approximate cost includes the cost of the Angie's List deal.

They were supposed to fix my toilet so that it would work properly but we found out that there were some other problems. They couldn't fix it. Their price was a couple of hundred bucks and they didn't fix the problem.

I was worried about our high water pressure. An ASHI-certified inspector had told my nephew in his house to "never have the pressure higher than 75psi." My house was running close to 90psi. So I decided to have Ben Franklin install a pressure regulator on the outside of the house, where the main supply enters. Ben Franklin prices are a little high, but the whole staff is good. This time, I got Rob. (I was tempted to give Price a B grade, but Rob did fantastic work.) <br> <br>Rob was a treat! Thorough, courteous, clean, and very very very knowledgeable. (I checked everything he said on the web to be sure, of course.) The work was done on time, for the price promised, with EXCELLENCE. The new regulator valve is great looking, then and now, 4 months after the job was done. <br> <br>Thanks, Rob and Ben Franklin!

<p>I had used Benjamin Franklin plumbing several years ago and was pleased with the work and the cost. I have since recommended them to several friends. Lesson learned, I need to keep up to date if I'm going to recommend providers :)</p> <p>Booking appointment was good. communications was good. plumber showed up on time, then informed me the service was over $300 to replace a garbage disposal. It took her about a half hour to do the work - can anyone say $600 an hour, you would think I asked for open heart surgery!</p> <p>Sara was our plumber and was very professional and did a great job. She cleaned up after herself and handled my disappointment in the cost aspect professionally - I completely understand it is not her - its the company :)</p> <p>Benjamin Franklin used to be reasonable pricing, but this was a shock. I should have known when I heard the name Kalka along with it. We had them estimate an AC system a while back and the price was at least 25% higher than other companies.</p> <p>While Sara was there, I checked Angies List (should have done so up front, but since I had used them in the past thought it safe to call them direct). Angies List had a special $111 for $200 of service so I asked if that could be honored. They said sure - but then, get this, they added back in the service call fee of $59 so I only ended up saving about $30 whoopee!! What honorable plumbing company charges a service call fee when you have the service done - incredible.</p> <p></p> <p>Need to dig through my business cards - there was a plumber out of the Fountain Valley area that did awesome work and was still reasonable.</p> <p>Not calling BF again.</p> <p></p>

Well, My poor review is for the Price, and a bit for the quality. <br> <br>I was charged $750 for the work provided above. On the surface the cost could somehow be reasonable, if <br> <br>(1) Access to the gas line was difficult; it was not. <br> - The gas line was sticking out of a wall, with ZERO obstruction 30 inches to right, 30 inches to left, and 40 inches above. Floor was clear. <br>(2) There was massive rerouting needed. <br> - There was not, the gas line simply went down and do the left, closer to a stud. <br>(3) Don't know what else. <br> <br>The plumber did measure against my new range; HOWEVER, the range was open, and in an open space. I can understand paying a few extra, maybe 75 max for that. <br> <br>Finally, I wouldn't have left a poor review, if it wasn't for the fact that I woke up the next morning to a cold shower. My fault, I guess as the gas line was shut off. HOWEVER, for the price I paid, I would have expected quality to the point where some sort of checklist of things that need to reconciled after the work was completed. Really, for that price, I should have had the water heater pilot restarted, perhaps even installed. <br> <br>I don't want to take away from the professionalism of the plumber though. He was very polite, nice, and easy to talk to. <br> <br>These are all based on my perception of what the cost of this work should be. <br> <br>The plumber was on my service call for < 3 hours, to include having left for 30 minutes to go somewhere. $750/3 = $250 per hour, with potentially 30$ in parts. <br> <br> <br> <br>

I remember having a negative experience. I brought them in to do something and then, they nickel-dimed and the scope went up. I think it ended up costing me a couple hundred dollars for what I wanted them to do. It is just like a bait-and-switch. I thought it was expensive for what it was.
