I'm not sure this is the correct place for this review - we did use Benjamin Franklin plumbing, but it was their Howell, MI location. We had an issue with our sump pump and it was right before the major rain/ice storm (of course, Murphy's Law). Benjamin Franklin sent out a plumber the next day, and we were very thankful for this. The plumber that assessed our sump pump issue, Kevin, was very professional and very competent. The only thing is, Benjamin Franklin's pricing is indeed high. With this said, we'll definitely be calling and requesting Kevin for future plumbing issues.

Was a customer for several years and took advantage of the maintenance program they offered. I had a fair amount of work done and they were always prompt and efficient, though quite pricey. One minor issue with a repair was addressed without delay. When they were last out (2016), I was told the maintenance contracts were being revised. I requested that info be sent when available, but never received anything. I have since contacted them by leaving a phone message and have also sent two requests via their website. I have never received a response. While scheduling service was never an issue, this lack of contact is why I gave an 'D' on responsiveness.

It seems to have gone well, time will tell. I've used BFP in the past, as I appreciate that the job will be done right, the first time. They arrive on time, are polite, professional ... One issue is pricing transparency. The estimate was approximately $1000, but no breakdown between Parts and Labor. I looked up the part online $260, Service call $59, so Labor/Overhead was $681. The plumber was here 4 hours. I understand Fixed Price estimates and the risk, but this seems a little high. They also have franchise fees, trucks, office and other overhead. This being said, I'll hire them again. Also, they take AMEX which is important to me.

Fantastic. John told me what he was going to do (a). gentle removal of the cause of the clog or b). snaking, which is harder on old pipes). He told me what I might have to have done if those options didn't work. Fortunately, he was able to clear the clog and THEN he said since I don't rely on a septic tank, the best way to keep drains free is to pour a couple of cups of bleach down my drains (one drain per week) and flush with hot water after a couple of hours. By the way, they are also known as Masterworks Plumbing, if you are looking them up. Can't say enough good things about them!

I called them after seeing them at my neighbors house. Actually, I emailed with questions and they were very responsive. I felt they knew what they were talking about when they emailed me several problems it could be regarding the dishwasher. In the email I asked about any fees up front and they did say there is a $49 fee for an estimate IF we didn't do the work. I called the next business day and the lady on the phone was very friendly. She even said that if there was other plumbing that we wanted to be looked at while the guy was there to have it looked at since we were paying the $49 estimate fee. The plumber came on time and i showed him more things i wanted looked at. He gave me prices for 3 things. The toilet issue he told me it probably needed a flapper and i could do it myself. The other issue that i was concerned about from what another plumber did, I had him give me a price since the "other" plumber didn't do it to code when he said he would. This plumber gave me a price of $155. he said i could easily do it myself even though i am not very handy at fixing things. So, i decided to just get the dishwasher line fixed and the valve to the humidifier. As soon as he put on the arrestor for the dishwasher, the vibration stopped!! While I don't want the plumber to get into trouble for telling me I could do the other two issues myself, but he saved me several hundred dollars more. That is why i would come back to them!! Not everyone can afford $500 + in repairs. He saved me about $200-300 dollars and that makes me happy. The only thing I had a problem with is if you are charging $49 to look at repair and if we go ahead to do the work, that $49 should come off the bill. Other than that, I will still be calling them back as most plumbers still charge to come out and they charge less to look at your repair then most companies

Work done was OK, and service was good. They were very expensive -- and very vague about cost. Couldn't even give me a ballpark over the phone and when they arrived, charged me way ~$200 for literally 15 minutes of work.
Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
"The job actually took 45 minutes + material, which we quoted upfront before you approved the work , we were there to quote a sewer blockage, which you did not do , because you could get it done by a friend cheaper We called in advance to let you know the time we would arrive, and we waited for you for 45 minutes to arrive When we were done , again you signed the reciept approving the work. Why didnt you say somthing at that time, instead of accepting the work, then complaining on the internet."

They were expensive. When they brought my plumbing up to code, it took an awfully long time for them to finish up and have the inspector come to reinspect it.

They responded and showed up quickly.  Everything was done professionally and well.  The price is kind of high, but there's nothing bad to say about any of the work they've done.  They responded and came quickly as well.  Just to clarify, though, that this wasn't a simple snaking job.  I was informed that a previous home owner had done something funny with the basement plumbing so that they actually had to bring in a larger and more serious tool to deal with the clog.  From what I can remember, they charge about $49 to come out and either $189 or $289 for the first hour for my kind of job (depending on the tool needed -- I needed the larger one). <br />

We have a notoriously slow drain (or so we thought) and have had plumbers come in over the years to unclog when the plunger and draino just weren't cutting it.  BFP pulled out the Mother of All Clogs (MOAC) that had clearly been there for ages and clearly missed by other vendors.  The drain is no longer slow and months after is still performing better than ever before. <br />
