Jon Berman did a fantastic design/build and installation of a solid 8-foot work bench in my Denver garage. He worked efficiently and collaboratively, sharing design ideas and dimensions...even providing a helpful CAD drawing...before building the bench elements off-site and installing them flawlessly on-site. I highly recommend Jon for his excellent skills and experience. I would not hesitate to contact him for any woodworking design/build project. His pricing was very fair for the quality and value of the finished project.

Jon is a true professional. He installed shoe trim for us on an uneven surface and it looks great. Jon is very meticulous and I would definitely hire him again.

John estimated adding wood treads to our stairs would take 4-5 hours. Then he said it would take 9-10 hours, but that he would need to tear out and rebuild staircase because that is the only way it could be done. He said it would be quick because he could buy a precut staircase from HOme depot. He did not measure our staircase, however. It didn't seem prohibatively expensive, we said okay. Big mistake. It took him 32 hours because he didn't plan beforehand. It cost us $3000 by the time it was all over, more than twice the $1400 quoted by a reputable local floor shop (!). John feverently insisted that tearing out the (perfectly good) staircase was the only, only way to add the wood treads, but what we finally realized is that it is possible to cut the bull nose off the stair treads and overlay them with wood. We aren't sure if John was lying or if he just didn't know that was possible, but looking at a different set of stairs that have been re-modeled in our house, it's obvious to us (now that we know) that they are overlaid and the bull nose was cut. John took no care to keep our home clean during the work. He did not give us the heads up before he made a huge mess of our basement by cutting the stairs out and drywall. He could have easily hung a sheet of plastic in the doorway, covered the intake for our recently cleaned HVAC vents, or even moved our shoes a little bit away from the area that he was working in. Instead, he just got to cutting and didn't clean any of the dust up after. He left the rubbish pile with the demolished staircase behind in our garage. It took 12 days from when John demolished the staircase until he rebuilt it. 4 of those days were thanksgiving when we weren't here, but still, that is a long time to live without a way to get to your basement and laundry room, especially when we have two babies. During that time, the conditioned space of our home was pretty much open to the outside. We were afraid that he was going to walk off the job and leave us scrambling even further, so we tried to hide our irritation until he got the staircase functional again. We have been pretty angry about this whole fiasco, so we waited 2 months to write this review.

Jon is meticulous and cares about the finished product. My project which consists of installing a cable railing system required precise measurements to install the system properly. Jon's meticulous measuring and drilling of holes really counted in this effort. While the project is not 100% complete, I am confident I will love my new railings! Flexible and easy to work with!! I am planning on other projects with Jon.
