Ray and the entire team were excellent! I had previously received an estimate from another company, but they used subcontractors for the actual work and this concerned me. Another company came out and took measurements, but never gave me an estimate. I got the feeling the job was too big for them. I was now really hesitant to trust anyone to do the work and wanted to make sure they were going to do it right. I went to the BBB and found Betterliving with an A+ rating. From the beginning, I felt comfortable. They explained everything, were more than open to additional phone calls to clarify any questions I had and gave me an estimate very quickly. While I knew the work would not be started for several months, I received weekly phone calls from Michele, so I felt informed the whole time. They even took care of the permit that was required, so I didn't have to do any paperwork, handle the fee or answer questions. Mike was great about getting the measurements and he let me know the work would not start until he made sure all of the pieces were available. Frank was super with the installation. He treated the entire project as if he were working on his own home. The payments were done over the duration of the project, so I didn't feel like I was handing over my money without anything in return. And the final payment was not due until I was satisfied with the work completed. The warranty provided on the materials was excellent. I'm happy I decided on Betterliving and have been enjoying my patio cover every chance I get! A long time dream is finally a reality.

Wonderfully I am isolated due to chemo and COVID. We decided to convert our screened in porch to a four season room, so our three adult children, their spouses and our grandchildren could visit us through the glass window. We engaged Better Living Sunrooms and asked if we could have the room available by Thanksgiving, since we would not be able to see our family otherwise.. Ray Hemp was amazing when delays occurred due to COVID, He is an outstanding person of integrity who keeps his promises. He made it happen! We had lovely visits with our family, which I will never forget. Today, some items needed completed to finish the room. Ray and Anthony Mazzant (another outstanding person) spent several hours with us and finished the room. It is wonderful! Last week, when it snowed, we sat in the new room and watched the flakes fall, safe and warm. The room is all we were promised - it is beautiful! Thank you so much to Ray for making my holiday dreams come true.

Approximately two years ago we added a Sunroom and deck on the back of our house. We chose BetterLiving Patio Rooms to do the job, and we were very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend them! We use the room all year as we added heat and air conditioning, and it has become our favorite room! The owner Ray was the individual we personally worked with. Ray and everyone on his staff were very professional and outstanding to work with. Many of our neighbors have complimented the work and have asked us who the contractor was. Every time we have friends or family over who are seeing the room for the first time, we continue to get the same response "WOW this room is beautiful, and look what it has done to the value of your home". We have made many improvements to our home over the years, but this by far was the best decision we made. It has not only become our favorite room, but our favorite retirement spot. It provides the beauty of our back yard all year long, its a fabulous room for reading, and anyone who is an artist or needs alot of light for projects, etc, it does the job perfectly! Our dog loves it as well as it gives her more visibility to bark at all of the animals in our yard. We also highly recommend the remote blinds for some privacy and blocking out the sun!

BetterLiving is a company that operates with honesty and integrity. We just wrapped up a complete demolition and new build of our large front porch all done by the courteous, knowledgeable BetterLiving crew. It was really a great experience from the carpenter who first came out Anthony and also Hogan who kept us informed on time tables and what to expect next. The young men who did this fabulous job were Darion and Josh phenomenal and professional at all times. Super hard working and considerate. The owner himself, Ray came out as our property was challenging but he insured everything was safe and well thought out. My husband and I can not say enough about this group of honest hardworking contractors who gave us gold standard customer service from the top down! Better living was extremely responsive and helpful even though my project was fairly small. I had a very hard time getting other contractors to come out for a small project. They worked through all the city permit issues, then came out and demolished my old deck and build a beautiful new one in about a week. Everyone I spoke to throughout the process was very helpful. I am beyond thrilled with my new front porch. I am a very particular person and the entire crew kept me involved in the building process each step of the way. I was able to determine exactly how I wanted the porch to look down to the inch. No one made me feel as if I was difficult or hard to please. Instead, they confirmed to me over and over that their job was to make me happy.

It looks FANTASTIC! We encountered some unexpected bumps in the road as always happens with construction on an old home and they were fantastic in working with me and coming up with creative solutions to the issues. The end result is even better than I had imagined. The sales rep Ray was honest, comprehensive and even came out at the end of the project to make sure that he approved, was happy with it and he did a few finishing touches to make it look even better. Well worth the money. This type of project is expensive but they are totally in line and even more reasonable than other estimates I had plus they did much more than the comparable estimates at other companies included. The only reason that I gave a B for punctuality is that there were several delays in getting the last minor finishing touches done, but absolutely nothing that would prevent me from hiring them again or recommending them to anyone and everyone. Use this company, you won't be disappointed!

What a company!!! What a great team consisting of Josh, Hogan, Jim, and the owner Ray. They all worked very professionally in the teardown of our old deck and the design and construction of our new 3 Season Room. We couldn’t be happier with our new addition.

Impressed with preliminary meetings and plan work, all workers were willing to answer questions and were professional.  The finished concrete and patio roof exceeded our expectations.   Workers on patio roof paid attention to the details too!!!

Went well - they had issues with our township approving things and demanding unreasonable requirements which added to the installation time but we were always informed - we always knew what was going on and we are exceptionally pleased with the results and are enjoying our sunroom everyday. <br> <br>We felt like we were dealing with family - <br> <br>You can't go wrong with this company - <br> <br>

The project went smoothly and didn't take long to finish. We had a sunroom previously but it did not have a heating or cooling system on it.  We use this room more than other rooms in our house.  We are very satisfied and happy! I would recommend them to anyone! 

<p>After buying a house with an old deck we quickly decided we wanted something enclosed. Our kitchen also was designed with a horrible "bump out" - sort of a bay window for a door, which we hated. We didn't know exactly what we wanted but we know we wanted something enclosed. Having a carport for a third car below was something we were considering. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <p>We met with Ray and had lots of questions. Ray helped us to focus on what it is we really wanted and what was important for us. For example, we knew we wanted a sunroom and a small outside deck for a grill but only thought about it based on the existing deck. Therefore, we were thinking about laying it out exactly like the existing deck - with the deck and stairs closest to the driveway. Ray pointed out that this layout would not be optimal as the railing of the deck would somewhat obstruct the view from inside the new sunroom. Since our view is only towards the east and not the west Ray suggested we flip it so the deck and stairs would be on the west and the eastern view would be completely unobstructed. Sure this means a slightly longer walk to the driveway, but the view is now incredible and unobstructed! This is just one of many decisions that could have gone either way where Ray helped us make the right decision. Not that what we wanted would have been wrong, we just didn't know. Sure, with the deck and stairs on the other side its a longer walk down to the driveway, but we hardly ever use those stairs but I see the view every day. </p> <p><br /></p> <p>Work started within our expectations, about three months from when we signed. After we signed the contract we started working dealing with Jami the production manager on coordinating timing for work to begin. Once work began we talked pretty much every day coordinating whether or not they needed to be inside the house that day, minimizing the amount of time we needed to stay home during the project. Ray checked in on major milestones along the way and stopped by from time to time which was a nice touch. </p> <p><br /></p> <p>What we got was a great sunroom with maintenance free deck, with stairs and railing with a carport underneath big enough for a car, RVs, a boat, etc. Most importantly, we now know we have the best possible view from inside our sunroom which we see every day. The overall sunroom is beautiful and the work was done timely and during extreme weather, which is commendable. I should note that we had to call several times to ask if we were on their schedule as they didn't communicate well. We had several issues with installation quality. The gutters were not properly installed (old gutters not tied into new room), so there was poor drainage. Even after we had them back, they were not properly fixed/sealed and are still leaking. The installers closed in a bulk head prior to communication with the electricians which caused an actual fight between them as they were working. They didn't put the microwave vent back through the roof. They did give us a credit so we could have our contractor complete, but that was only after we complained. Absolutely zero clean up upon completion. The windows were filthy, sliding groves full of dirt etc from drilling. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />As I said, the room is beautiful, but for the money we spent and as a well known, reputable company, I would have expected more seasoned and professional installer and better overall customer service. <br />

I called Angie?s List and used the concierge service to find a contractor. Meleka called me with the name of a <br /> construction company and they did not want the job because it involved removing the  old structure. Next, a patio roof installer came out but again could not or would not deal with the removal of the old 10? X 10? roof. He referred me to a contractor (friend) who would remove the roof, but he decided he would fix the existing roof and create boxlike steps at the <br /> front of the house. Finally, Betterliving Patio & Sunrooms of Pittsburgh, Ray Hepp, president came out and gave me an estimate and saved the day. I told him my concerns and he listened carefully and he actually did what he said he would do. Jamie did a great job of planning the roof. Ray planned the front steps and gave me a great deal on the entire project. <br /> The back of the house is  in an ?L? shape ? roof on one side and house wall along the adjacent  side creating a gully. The wooden 5 year old structure with a rubber roof leaked and each time it was fixed a new leaked developed. I wanted <br /> Betterliving Patio & Sunrooms to remove this structure and install a more substantial structure. <br /> Mark and Greg removed the old leaking roof. They had to install new siding to the back wall where the header had been. I decided I wanted the whole wall redone to harmonize with the rest of the house. This was no easy task. The worst part was <br /> the ¾? plywood sticking out at the bottom of the ?A? frame at the top of the wall. Greg meticulously feathered in the siding <br /> and it looks smooth and perfect. <br /> They had to shingle part of the roof where the old roof had been, again this is perfect, I can?t see any difference between the two <br /> sections. <br /> The patio roof was installed with a 50-year warranty. It consisted of:  Studio style (shed) roof, Size 10'3" wide X 19' long, Roof panel thickness is 4 1/2"  with R value of 21, roof panels are finished top and bottom with embossed aluminum skins,with a clear coat for scratch protection, 3 panels 36" X19' <br /> Daily after cleaning the work area, Mark showed me the work that had been completed and explained what would be done the next day. <br /> After removing the existing 8 years old small deck and steps at the front of my home, Mark and Greg worked for several hours to pierce the rock-solid ground to prepare the holes for the cement footings. Next came: 6? X 6? posts, 2? X 10? joists and <br /> frame,  stringers for the 4? wide steps, composite decking for steps and deck, cement hardy board for the skirting, and Betterliving aluminum railing (50-year warranty). <br /> It took a full 9 days to complete all the work, but I was blown away by the magnificent end product. Keep in mind Mark and Greg never stopped working even though some days the temperature hit 90 degrees. These man are actually artists at what they do. My 37 years old house looks new. <br /> If you are thinking about a similar project be prepared to wait. This company is very popular so I had to wait 4 months for the work to begin but it will last indefinitely. They don?t take shortcuts. If you are in a hurry and don?t mind having to replace things every few years find another company. The good news is they work year round. <br /> I am extremely pleased with the extraordinary patio roof, deck and steps. I recommend this company 100%. <br /> One additional note: I love the Angies?s List concierge service. They know what they are doing and I can just tell them what I need. I usually get frustrated when I have to sift through potential contractors then to find they aren?t interested or they just don?t return my calls. Ray Hepp returned all my calls each evening or the next day. <br /> <br />

Joey was the salesman we spoke with @ the PGH Home Show. He was very prompt on scheduling an appt with us. He came right on time & was so nice & very professional. Joey worked very well with us on the patio room & price we wanted to be at. We went to their showroom & saw exactly what we were getting. There, we met Jami, Production Manager, & he went over all the construction & pricing with us. Then, he came to our house to remeasure & take pictures, etc. We were told it would take about 10 to 12 weeks until they would start, which was just fine with us. Around 10 weeks, Mark & his crew came to build the patio home. They were always on time, very friendly & professional. Mark always let us know what was going on & was more than happy to answer any questions we had. Jaimie would come by to check on things & see if we were satisfied with everything. We never had any issues and we feel we received an excellent product & high quality construction.. We always felt very confident in Joey, Jami & Mark & the work being done.
