It was very good, he is very knowledgeable. He came out to look at our trees and started working right away.

JHe was suppose to trim 2 trees.Joe states the "old man " working for him was mad at Joe and took it out on my trees.One of my trees is totally dead in the middle.!!!  He states it is his fault he let him destroy my beautiful trees and that he would pay me back. He states he fired the "old man"...I have given him the benefit of the doubt as to why he does not have the money.His excuses have been that his house caught on fire,he had to go out of town,it's winter and he has no work right now, he's been sick in the bed,he had to put up a fence etc.etc.....On Jan 2012 he called and promised me that he would pay me back the full amount when spring got here.Well Joe,it's spring and where is my money ? I am contacting Angie's list to have him removed.I am also going to file a complaint in small claims court. DO NOT allow him to touch your trees !!! There are many more reputable people out there. Make sure whomever you call is a certified arborist. They charge the same,but they know their stuff...I have had 2 certified arborist's here to examine my trees and they can't believe the damage he has done.I've learned a valuable lesson from this and I hope you do too.

We are selling our home and as part of the sale the potential buyers wanted a large tulip tree located in front of the garage between the 2 bays removed.   Joe had very good price (though not the cheapest)  -some estimates were almost double his price and was also willing to take on the task, whereas other companies I called seemed to hope the didn't get the job for fear of damaging the garage, driveway or house. <br /> Joe gave me the estimate and was able to start the work within a few days of acceptance of the bid.  It took his crew 2 days to complete the job and they did so without harming any of the surroundings and cleaned up well after the work was finished.  I had little faith but he assured me his crew was up to the task and I was pleasantly surprised when done of the doomsday scenarios that other companies warned of came to be. <br /> Good work at a great price!

Owner and workers came out on Friday evening and discussed project. The next day 8 employees came out and worked long day in high heat. The next day two came out and completed work in two hours. All employees were exceptionally nice and hardworking. My neighbor even made positive comments.

They came and did what I wanted them to do. They did a thorough job and cleaned up the area. I have not had a tree taken down or tree trimming done before, but I did not feel that they were over-priced; I was not upset about the price based on the amount of work that they did. It was not necessary to grind the stump. One thing that I didn’t like was that they made an appointment to come out to assess the property to see what the work was, but they could not stick to it. I waited two or three days when I thought they would come out, but they did not call to explain, but when they did explain that they were held up with another job, it seemed very legitimate. I am sure that this is just the nature of their business; however, they should have contacted me and kept me in the loop of what was going on. The communication part was lacking. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Initially I was told it'll be about a week's wait but then I got a call. They offered to do it on the way back from another job the next day. I agreed. When I got home they had completed the job and cleaned up. They also told me that the tree had a minor beetle infestation.

This service was not an emergency, and I just needed to have trees trimmed. A friend of mine gave me the name of this company, so I called him and he came out to give me an estimate. He arrived promptly at the time we scheduled and was very professional. I answered all of his questions to the best of my ability. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

Great job from start to finish!

Overall I was very pleased with the service provided.  I received three estimates and Betz' was the lowest by approximately $250 dollars.  The crew worked very quick and did an excellent job of cleaning up the branches and wood chips.

I had Betz Tree Service out to give me an estimate to take down a large dead elm tree that was between our house and the neighbor's house.  As part of that visit, they walked the property with me and pointed out some other things that needed to be done - including removal of a large walnut tree that had been eaten out at the base by carpenter ants and was leaning.  They were very knowledgeable and professional.  I felt very comfortable that they knew what they were talking about and would do things properly.  They were flexible with scheduling and got the job done as quickly as the weather would permit.  It was amazing to see them take down these huge hardwood trees.  They were very careful to bring them down in sections and not to drop them on our yard.  They cut out dead branches in several of our big oak and walnut trees and trimmed branches back off of the roof.  The whole team was highly skilled and experienced.  They did a great job cleaning up the property when they were finished.  It was hard to tell they had even been there after they were gone.  Good tree work is expensive, but I definitely felt like the price we paid was fair for the effort and experience that they put into the job.  We will absolutely use them again.

Tuesday night a mature tulip tree was blown over onto the garage.The garage sustained catastrophic damage. I had used Betz Tree Service last fall, was very satisfied, and called Joe first thing Wednesday morning. He came out immediately and began the work before 11 a.m. They worked 5-6 hours and did a great job. They had to come out again on Thursday to finish removal of the larger sections (the tree had been 3 1/2 to 4 ft. in diameter) and the stump. This is the second time I have used them in a year and would most definitely use them again. Their pricing is always reasonable as well.

Overall it was great.  Joe's pricing is always fair.  he was very heavily scheduled so he came out on Sunday to do the work.  He and his team cleaned up everything and removed all the branches.  Very neat and tidy.  At Christmas Joe and his team come out and hang all my outdoor lights.  He has better design ideas than I do.

They were able to do the work quickly, did a great job and the price was below other estimates.  Explained things thouroughly and gave suggestions on products to use to keep our trees healthy. 

Great experience. My husband started to dig up our 7' dogwood to transplant to the back yard. After about an 1 hour of digging and creating a huge crater in the yard, it wouldn't budge. The tree is beautiful and I was really scared of losing it so I started placing calls to A-rated companies on Angie's List. Betz's was the second company I called and Joe answered right away. He was out on estimates and said he could be to our house for an estimate in about 2 hours. He called while we were running errands, but went over to the house and gave us an estimate over the phone. We accepted because he had been so prompt in getting in touch with us and said he would do the work the same day since we had already started to dig up the tree (this all happened on a Sunday, so we were thrilled he offered to work that day). Joe and his employee got to the house right around 4 pm and were completely done less than an hour and a half later. They moved the tree to our spot in the back, planted it perfectly and then cleaned away the displaced soil and raked the dirt smooth. They watered the tree in with root stimulator and gave us instructions for watering over the next few weeks. Next, they took the displaced soil from the back and filled the hole from the trees former location. They chopped up the larger clumps of dirt and then stamped and raked everything smooth. They even situated the tree into its new location just right without me having to give explicit instruction. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

They called me on a Saturday, were in my area, came over that day and were able to do the work on the same day.  I was happy to have the work done right then, rather than having to wait a long time.  They cleaned up and offered a good price.  I was pleased with the service.

These guys are great! Very courteous, very fast. They even cut up the brush I asked them to leave for no extra charge! I will be recommending these guys to everyone I know! They were very reasonably priced and their price wasn't inflated like other tree service companies I contacted.

Overall the job went very well. My only complaint is that they showed up about 2 hours later than stated. It's understandable that delays are sometimes unavoidable, but a simple courtesy call would have helped to manage expectations. Once they did arrive, Joe was apologetic and agreed to additional services (cutting the tree into logs) at no additional charge. For this job I contacted three highly rated companies. Only two responded. Betz came out within a day to provide an estimate and also had the most competitive price. When I called Joe back on Friday, he was willing and available to do the job on Saturday. They brought the tree down in sections using a climber (instead of a bucket truck). This kept the cost down and also made for a great show! I am very pleased with the results and am grateful for the professionalism of the whole crew and Joe's willingness to be fair.

This was a large, difficult and dangerous job so I wanted to make sure that I hired a company that had the proper equipment and insurance in case something did go wrong. The most dangerous part of the job was climbing and swinging in the 50-60 foot tall trees while operating a chainsaw. However, the job went well with no injuries to people or property. They did what they promised and got most all of it done in one days time. They had provide a written estimate and stuck to it. When they returned to collect I asked them to move a small pile of branches and to get a branch out of the creek that they had not had time to do they first day. They agreed to do it with no objections and just wanted to make sure that I was satisfied. Overall a very good experience and will call on them again for similar types of jobs.

Joe and his crew went right to work. The tree was 60+ feet tall and within 15 feet of the house. His guys carefully removed the branches on the house side, ensuring that they didn't hit the gutters or roof. Next they cut down the trunk in sections. Finally, Joe ground out the stump and they removed the shavings. The entire crew is very courteous and polite. These guys work fast and well.

Worked the entire day (6 hrs.) on the trees. Very courteous and professional. Explained everything to me. I would definitely use the company again.

Betz Tree Service, after talking to 2 other companies, gave me an estimate that fell in the middle of the price range I heard. However, Joe was kind enough to call back and check on how my decision process was going after his initial estimate. The group of guys showed up to take the tree down. Everything was going smoothly. As they began cutting into the trunk, they were sure to show me the extensive damage done to the tree by the ants. About 2/3 of the way through the job, a limb came down and pulled the main electrical line to our house down. It was still functional, but detached from the house. Joe told me that the power company would come and reattach it. I called the power company and they came out, and the power service technician told me the tree company was responsible for reattaching the line to my house. In the mean time, the technician told me he had to cut the power to our house. By now, Joe and his group had left. So I called Joe and told him what the power company had said. He went to the hardware store and got what was needed to reattach the line. He and my husband reattached the line. The power company came back, checked the reattachment, and our power was restored. I was frustrated spending time without power during the evening, but Joe worked to make it right. I recommended him to my neighbor and would use him again in the future.

The tree service guy was very timely. He came out to give an estimate. He seemed very knowledgeable when he was looking at some of the trees that we had that were looking weak. He was able to tell us what was going on with the trees. His price was right compared to some of the other people who had come out to have a look at the trees. He was also ready to get the work done the next day. I would use their services in the future too.
