Bruce Freeman did a great job understanding our needs. He drew up extensive plans and talked through how we would like to use or space. His construction knowledge made us feel confident that we were moving in the right direction.

We would highly recommend BFreeman Design for any project you may need an architect. Bruce was easy to work with and was very knowledgeable about the building process. He did a great job listening to what we wanted to do and then prepared a design that we are very happy with. He prepared all the necessary drawings that our city required for the project to get approved. We will definitely contact Bruce if we have future projects that requires architectural drawings.

We were introduced to Bruce after having a poor experience with a prior architect. We are doing a garage, bedroom, and entryway addition and planning to live at the house during the build (we're crazy maybe). Therefore we needed someone with a contractor background, design knowledge, and serious creativity for our project. Bruce has done a great job working with us remotely (were out of state). Extremely responsive, patient to help us understand design choices and physical limitations and delivered us a beautiful final concept. He then help scale back the plans for a phased approach project (Contractor portion and DIY). Delivered full 2D, 3D, cross sections, as-built, demo, framing, and electric plan. He was very quick and was often waiting on us, (which was a nice change). Thank you Bruce, can't wait to have you out once we have the project finished.

We hired Bruce Freeman to create a new vision for the kitchen of our recently purchased 1960's home. Our project was complicated by potential structural issues with moving weight-bearing walls and a stairwell. As a former builder himself, Bruce had the knowledge to know what was and wasn't possible structurally. He listened carefully to our ideas about the style and function we had in mind for the space. He then took that information, coupled with his own expertise, to draft an initial design. He thought outside the box and had the creativity to take advantage of wonderful lighting and views in the back of our home and actually flipped the location of the former kitchen and dining room to optimize these assets. He incorporated our feedback to create a final blueprint. We were able to present these plans to contractors in order to get comparable bids from them. Once work began, our contractor and subcontractors found the blueprint so detailed and complete that they were able to use it without any further modifications to complete the project, saving us time and cost. We were thoroughly pleased with Bruce's work and would highly recommend him for your design needs.

Bruce is an excellent building designer. He has many years of experience as builder and now uses that expertise to focus on building design. He listened to our needs, wants and constraints and then was very capable at translating all of that into a building design. He is very proficient at Chief Architect design software and his 3D renderings and ability to show us in real time what things would look like were a great help in deciding what we wanted. We then took our final design out to several different builders. This process allowed to compare builders on cost, quality and fit and identify the one we wanted to work with. Bruce then supplied the final plans for the project for permitting and for the builder and subcontractors.

We worked with Bruce to get a detailed plan for construction of a 4-season porch/dining room addition that we will be building ourselves. Bruce was easy to get in touch with, responded quickly to our questions and revision requests. It was helpful to see the plan in 3D and talk through our vision with Bruce. We are overall happy with our detailed plan and list of materials. The plan arrived as a PDF via email. We have not started our project or permits yet but expect it to go smooth. I would recommend Bruce!

Bruce was great in bringing our desired vision to life in a way that made sense not only to us but to the builders we were thinking of working with. The plans he created allows us to have good and meaningful conversations with these builders (including some he recommended) and allowed them to provide bids based on a consistent design and work to be performed. He was also willing to iterate with us and provide ideas based on his previous background as a builder. The final result was something that could be used for bids and permits. We would recommend Bruce for any one thinking of a medium to large project that requires speaking to multiple builders in order to allow you to compare bids "apples to apples".

It was an A plus work. He's attentive, his focus on the detail of the drawings according to what I needed, made changes as I needed them, and the prices were reasonable.

Bruce was exceptional to work with. His design was exactly what we collaborated, and he was extremely patient and understanding as we worked through a dysfunctional City of Minneapolis Planning Department to obtain the necessary permitting and variances to begin the project. Acting as my own General Contractor, Bruce's final plans were extremely detailed and resulted in a project that flowed smoothly and looks exactly as designed. I've worked with a number of architects and design/build firms over the years and Bruce Freeman is head-and-shoulders above the rest. I can't recommend him highly enough!

This was a horrible experience. Not one area this remodeler supervised (when he even bothered to show up) that was done correctly. He is now requesting that I pay him $6,000 more but can't produce receipts for the $20,000 that I paid already. Water leaks, floor damaged, pipes replaced that were not supposed to be, egress window put in wrong, electrical switch put inside shower, dumpster was being used to dump other sites trash, on the job argues on phone with wife, argues with workers, refuses to correct errors, does not follow blueprint, paint peels off because surface preparation wrong, not enough tiles ordered for bathroom, framing had to be removed because it was put in BEFORE insulation, never answers phone in office, framing looked like Swiss cheese with all the re-work that had to be done, hides things from homeowner, hires questionable character men and then leaves. You will be sorry if you hire this man. His license should be revoked. I have retained a lawyer.
