This company is extremely professional and superb to work with. Emma and Natalie who answer the calls were a pleasure to speak with (especially after being taken advantage of by the last few pool companies we spoke with) . They were able to not only tell me my options but also help me with the process. They were patient and answered everything without having to rush me off the phone. The company went as far as squeezing me into the schedule due to a vacation conflict with the initial scheduled date. This is normal for returning customers to get this treatment but as a new customer I am very appreciative. I would 100% use their services again and they now have a new client in me!

Big Pool came to close my pool. Their price was unfair and they did a sloppy job. When they were done, the guy wrote a bill of about $100 over what initially was agreed on. He called his boss, I spoke to him as well. Mike, "the boss", insisted that this is the price. He could care less about how I felt. He just wanted the money. After they left I saw that they didn't connect all the loops of the Looplock cover to the screws. They did not install the pump that is supposed to drain precipitation water that seeps in. They also put muddy cinder blocks they found in the yard on the cover of the spa. They didn't bother to hose them down or ask if they can use those. I hope they didn't damage the cover.
Response from Big Blue Pools & Spas
"I would like to address several of the concerns listed in this review. As the owner I booked the appointment personally with (removed member name) and quoted the price for closing both her pool and attached spa. The amount I told her is exactly what we listed on the invoice. When (removed member name) called to let me know that several of the Looploc anchors were not fastened to her satisfaction, I offered to send someone back to correct the issue and she told me she would take care of it herself and I wasn't given the opportunity to correct her concern. In addition, (removed member name) never indicated that she wanted the pump installed nor did she leave it out at the time of the closing and not everyone has this pump so it is not a standard unless indicated. Thank you."

This is the first time I used Big Blue Polls. My overall experience with this company, from speaking with Emma to the pool closing today was excellent: Justin and his assistant arrived punctually at 10am. The closing ran smoothly and Justin explained the procedure and provided some helpful hints for next year. All filters, pumps and so forth were put next to my shed (upon my request) and thoroughly cleaned. The closing took about 1 hour and I was pleased.
I plan to use Big Blue Pools next year to open my pool.
We first used BBP last year when we found them on angie's list to do our pool closing. they were very professional and informative. Since we had just bought our new home, we didn't know much about managing a pool at all. Mike provided us with insight and recommendations on our liner, filters and pumps. The next year, we had BBP open our pool up and do a cleaning. They came on time and their work was exceptional. Recently, our pump was making some crazy loud noise and we immediately called BBP to check it out. They had our pump replaced right away just in time for our pool party we have scheduled. With the purchase of our pump, LIPA provides a $400 rebate. They did all the leg work for us. Even when I forgot to call them to give them my LIPA account, Emma from BBP tracked me down and got it. They are wonderful and made sure I get my rebate. I'd highly recommend BBP's as the folks there are wonderful and the service and price are more than fair. We're so glad we found them on angie's list.
PS... the $ on the cost of service field was for the pump but it does not include the rebate. so after rebate, it's less than $600
I loved the company when they closed my pool in October 2011. In 2012, a week after opening pool they did not respond to my call that the filter was not working. I gave up on then and called an electrican and he fixed it. They did close the pool in the September 2012. I called them to open pool in 2013, late due to Sandy pool enclosure fence damage. I was told they were making their business smaller and servicing the area east of Storybrook and I am west. I just read April and May reviews from this provider. I feel that they lied to me because Mike wrote that he likes expanding business through the list and a member wrote a response that they won't come east to them. I had the pool open by another company and I found out that they did not put the return plugs in which could cause major damage to pool and pool pavers area. I am very disappointed because I thought a had a keeper.

Pool opening 6/6 went as scheduled and was inititally impressed that the person in charge was so thorough. He took pictures, explained everything to me, and told me he'd tell the owner everything we needed and the office would email me "within a week" with estimates and scheduling options to get the work done. We need repairs from hurricane Sandy and a new heater as well as some plumbing fittings repaired. NO EMAIL, NO ESTIMATES. A call time was arranged with the office and I waited ALL day for the call. The call finally came at 4:10pm while I was out getting my kids home from school. Called back, left message, NO RETURN CALL.
After the opening:
our pressure guage was never installed and is missing, our stairs were not correctly installed, a cap is missing from the steps.
Left THREE messages, politely asking for estimates and scheduling of repairs and heater installation. NO RETURN CALL.
Finally, last (and 4th) message asking could they please let me know if they were still able or willing to do the repairs, etc. NO RETURN CALL.
Bottom line: No pressure guage, no heater and no repairs to leaks. Looking for new pool company AGAIN!!!
Big Splash is awesome! They were always very professional, accommodating and punctual. I had to re-schedule the opening several times and they were always easy to work with. Promptly returned calls.
When they did come over to open the pool - they were right on time and very efficient.
Highly recommend this company to service pools.
We are very happy with them and plan on continuing to use them. We have no complaints at all. They showed up when they said they would. Did what they had to do and even took time to show us a few things that we didn't see on our filter. Not pushing any sales on us just maintenance we can take care of. The woman Emma in the office was very helpful answering all my questions and the guys who came and did the work were very professional.
Sad to say this, but Mike (who means well) is both overwhelmed and
overpriced. Had him close and open my pool this season, now I have
bubbles in my pool pump and a real problem with my filter's efficiency.
He claims the opening is an "industry standard," but all they do is
remove a cover, dump shock and connect pipes. They never bothered to
check the chemicals of my pool. Hiring him seems to have caused more
hassle than ease, and he was not cheap

When they arrived, they did not have leaf bags. They decided to open the pool but, that is not why I called them. Because they did not have leaf bags they threw the leaves all around my yard for me to clean up. I called him during the job and he told me 'stay in your house and do not go and talk to my crew'. He does not return phone calls. He treated me like dirt. He is discourteous and rude.

They did a great job. They were prompt and efficent. They took off the cover, set up the filter, salt generator, ladder, and diving board and shocked the pool. We had a question later and called the owner who got back to us and advised us.
Mike is responsive to my calls (returns calls promptly either by email of phone call). He did weekly pool maintenance last season as well as the pool closing (2012) and we are already confirmed for the opening and start of the new season (2013). He and his crew are wonderful and make my life easier. I consider him my Big Blue Pool Angel!

We had just purchased the house which was not maintained and the same went for the pool. It was a swamp the water was black infested with mosquitos, the cover was shot and half in the pool it looked like something from a horror movie. We contacted Big Blue Pools and Mike got back to us very quickly. I didn't know much about pools but I knew if I waited pool season would be in full swing and they would get busy. Mike was VERY courteous and professional and answered all my questions. We made arrangements with him to do the opening he broke down everything that needed to be done to turn the pool back. He was not pushy about anything. One of the things he had mentioned to me was this Haywood High efficiency pump it was $900.00 but he explained it was not necessary at all. I liked the idea very much and elected to go with it. His crew came back many times. Cleaning and treating with chemicals, the first time they opened it, it smelled more like a cesspool than a pool. When they were finished it was crystal clear and looked great. Now it was time to install the pump I had ordered. Unfortunately at first I didn't have the 220 outllet needed when they came. They could have told me it was my problem since I had ordered the pump. Instead Mike took full responsibility and said he should have seen it and took the pump back. He held it for me and in about four days I got the 220 outlet in and they installed the pump. Mike and one of his crew Jason I believe both took turns giving me alot of their time to teach me about taking care of the pool & where to get things what I needed and told me about the tings I didn"t really need. I still call up and ask questions and Mike still is as friendly and professional as the first time I contacted him & answers all my questions. I cannot say enough good things about this company. The only thing left to say is if you have a pool and wait till may / June to open it remember yours is not the only one. Give these guys a break the pool buisness is seasonal so the first month or two and the end season is crazy busy. Also my wife & I feel these guys are worth waiting for!!

I have to add that I still call Mike with questions about my pool and he still takes the time to answer me and tell me what to do and this is months later. GREAT COMPANY

I've used this company for the last few years for all of my pool needs (including openings, closings, and replacing my filter that died after several years). This company is top notch, always does the work perfectly even though i'm not there to "supervise" when they come because I work. I fully trust this company.
