It was not a good move, and I feel they were in over their heads with a large household, interstate move. We have moved 10 times and this was the worst...we had many breakages (some kitchen items, several picture frames, and glassware). Our Drexel Heritage dining table was scratched and dented, and a custom made desk/secretary was scraped, chipped, etc. Many other wood items showed scrapes and dents. They used very little packing paper (many boxes had none whatsoever), tossed breakable items in with heavy items, didn't unload bookshelves and freestanding cabinets (shrink wrapped them so the books would stay in), etc. They were strong, though, I must say....carried full bookcases upstairs without dinging up the walls. They arrived late on both the loading and the unloading ends, brought used boxes that fell apart, then ran out of boxes and started piling things into plastic trash bags. There was an altercation between the owner and my husband when they delivered our goods, as the owner was asking for more money and implying that we had more items to move than we did when he came for a walk-through (no way, of course). Writing this all down makes me realize how bad it really was!

I had a great experience with Big Movers through the proposal process and final delivery and set-up of my furniture. My move was across state lines from South Carolina to Charlotte – about 89 miles. I received an estimate and contract based upon the description of the items that I provided and reviewed it with Monte several times to make sure I understood the charges. Many of the movers wanted to charge by the pound- one company was 3,000 pound minimum and another was 8,000 pound minimum since it crossed state lines. The move itself was picture perfect! The three-man team arrived as schedule and loaded the furniture in less than the time they estimated. They moved quickly but were very careful – reviewing each piece of furniture for damage and making sure I was aware of items with cosmetic or structural issues. When we arrived at my new house they did a great job unloading and helping me place the furniture in the optimum location in each room. They took a special interest in making sure I was pleased with the placement and were very patient with trying several different approaches for the living room. The entire team worked quickly, very professional, and excellent communicators. As a bonus, the final charge was on the low side of the original estimate even with the additional rearranging. I would highly recommend Big Movers for your next moving job!

Worked hard Went well

The went as smoothly as possible. Monty was extremely responsive and professional. Big Movers did everything as promised, when promised, and even accommodated a last-minute request to add a 16 foot canoe to the list of items. Due to an impending hurricane, they moved up the pickup tile by a few hours, arriving in Summerville at 3 am. They then drove all day, alternating drivers, to arrive in Connecticut that evening, with all the freight in good condition. Excellent job!

My move went fast and smoothly. Monty was accommodating and knowledgeable. The movers were punctual, polite, and took care not to scratch walls or furniture. Would recommend and hire again!

The move was quick and painless! Monty and crew even moved boxes that I did not include in my initial plan. Extremely courteous, would definitely hire again.

Movers were an hour late. They were nice and worked hard for the first few hours. They had lots of help on the Summerville end (setting up beds, carrying in, etc.) from my family and friends. They charged $150 extra for my desk. At payment time, I tipped each man (3 of them) $100 apiece (which I now regret). After checking furniture here, I discovered scratches on most of the dining room chairs. I went back to my previous house to clean it a few days later and discovered a big gouge in the wall in the living room hall. Also there was damage to the front door frame. I called Big Movers and asked them to come check the damage. The man who answered the phone at the main number said he'd have to talk with someone, and they would call back. I still have not had a call even after sending "Monty" an email. The reason I gave a D on responsiveness is because no one had the courtesy to contact me with a solution or even agree to come look at the damage.

On or around 5th of Aug 2017, I contacted BigMoverssc LLC ([*** Link removed ***] regarding an interstate move from 29205 to 64108. After several emails. I was given an offer of a flat fee move for 5000$. After informing the owner of the company that I need complete and careful packing of all my household goods in cardboard packing boxes, full and complete padding of my furniture, electronics and other high-end items, we agreed to the verbal terms. Upon requesting the DOT mandated movers bill or rights, insurance coverage and other documents I was assured that these would be sent to me forthwith. After a written estimate was sent by the company, I had discontinued my conversations with other companies and had kept this company as my mover. They had agreed to accept credit card payments as they had mentioned in their website. they also agreed to all my terms on careful packing, careful transportation, and delivery, as well as unpacking of my goods. Until the very day of the move, despite my numerous written/email and verbal requests, I had not been issued the mandated documents including Your Rights And Responsibilities When You Move" pamphlet and the "Ready to Move" brochure, written description of their complaint or inquiry process and others. On the 31st of Oct, they turned up about 3 hours later than agreed. They brought about 20 cardboard boxes and about 15 padded blankets to pack a household of 3 bedrooms. I once again requested the documents, and they refused. They also refused to accept the credit card payments as previously agreed- and instead asked for a cash payment- and I issued a check. At this point, I also kept insisting that they obtain more boxes and padding blankets, and they refused. In-fact most of my cloths and most of my household items were packed in open plastic containers I had been in the house. This made me very afraid of the potential damage to my goods and when I told the movers about these fears- they became physically threatening- Mr. Monty Grate told me to move away, and “let me do my job, otherwise I will punch you”. He also verbally abused me by saying that “you are a *****g pain in the ***. Moving Arabs and Indians is the worst thing ever. I should charge you more, and throw your things away…” Eventually, my goods were loaded in the truck. At some point, I witnessed Mr. Grate reaching in to one of the open containers with some of my cloths- and tried to use those cloths as padding for my TV that they refused to put in a box. In that box, there were some electronic items as well. I had asked them on numerous occasions to at least shrink wrap these boxes and they refused. My sense at this point was that the company, knowing that I was all alone, and moving to another state, was holding me hostage, my goods at ransom. Upon completion of the loading I requested a bill of lading and this too was refused. Mr. Grate laughed in my face. We had made arrangements to meet at my new address on the 1st of Nov at 2 PM. They did not arrive until 5 PM. They refused to let me inspect the truck before goods were unloaded. When my goods were brought inside the house they were left haphazardly. Most of my furniture that were taken apart were not put together. At the end of the move, as I vehemently refused to pay cash, Mr. Grate agreed to accept credit card, but then forced me to pay via PayPal even as I had indicated him that I preferred to pay directly via commercial processors. Also, at this time, he forced me to pay 150$ extra. At the end of the transaction, he again refused to issue me a receipt for the payments. They also did not allow me to inspect the truck before their departure. I have unpacked my items and have discovered multiple damages to my goods. There were also missing items, (potential for theft has been entertained). I have emailed detailed information and photos to Mr. Grate and nearly 72 hours later no response has been received. these are my experiences with the company.

Everything was Excellent even the staff! They exceeded my expectation!

Had to reschedule packing day then they were late then all of these random guy showed up with the owner one being his father to do the moving and a couple of guys that unclear if they were in high school or what and then one guy that was really really awesome . Not very good at packing organizing and therefore my house ended up with most of the boxes for storage my storage ended up with a lot of boxes that were supposed to be in the house started at 7:30 AM and didn't finish till 11:30 PM with a whopping extra thousand dollar cost. Unfortunately the guy on Angie's list that has more stars than him and Columbia I should've used even though he works quite a bit more an hour his professional demeanor and willingness to talk to me to help me make a decision was going far beyond his duties he was unable to help me because he took a job in Myrtle Beach that day . Well worth the money to pay somebody like him I just wish I remember the name of his company maybe I'll try to put it on later but he was **** smart educated and prompt with response and very honest very hard to find in moving companies .

Went well!

The movers truck broke down so they were and hour and 40 minutes late to get to my place.  They did not secure the load well in the truck which caused damage to my tool box and washing machine.  They dragged some of my furniture across the bed of the moving truck which caused scratches and dammaged one of the legs on my sideboard. They also dinged the paint in multiple spots throughout both homes, which isn't a big deal but I would have appreciated them bringing it up instead of me finding the marks after they left. They were very polite, their rates were reasonable compared to other outfits, and the worked through an afternoon rain shower only stopping when it was thundering and lightning. Overall the experience wasn't all negative.

It was terrible. They did a terrible job. They worked very slowly. Mine was a local move, which should of taken 6 to 7 hours, instead it took 9 hours. The loading and unloading was terrible. They marked up the door frames. They did damage some of our furniture. They had a wardrobe boxes that holds hanging clothes, they turned that upside down, a couple of them. I do not recommend them. The price was more than other moving companies. Other companies don't charge anywhere near that. They were late getting the there and worked slowly. I would definitely not use them again.
