I contacted this provider after seeing his magnetic sign on his truck. I called him for a quote but also investigated Angie's.list to see how reputable this company was. The reviews were favorable so we called him for a quote. We also called another company for a quote after reading reviews on Angie's list. Bikini Pools was lower in price and although there were some differences in application ideas between the two companies, we decided to go with Bikini Pools. The flow of construction companies was amazing........one would finish and another would appear within minutes......this has to be credited to the owner of Bikini Pools. We had some installation issues with the pavers but Mike had his subcontractor handle the problems immediately. The owner addressed every issue and was always available, which is very comforting when doing such a large improvement in our backyard pool area. We are very proud of our new pool and paver deck and are no longer embarrassed to entertain in our backyard. The remodel was estimated to be done in two weeks and they exceeded that time frame........very very conscientious contractors.
We just moved to Seminole when we discovered our pool needed a lot more work then we anticipated. We had planned on just resurfacing the pool, but since we had cracked tiles we decided to re-tile and therefore put on new coping as well. We also figured that since we were re-doing our whole pool, we might as well make it look awesome and redo the whole deck. We researched who we would have do the work and got about 4 estimates. We felt the most comfortable with Bikini pools and went with our gut. Glad we did. They did a fantastic job and the pool is the highlight of our house. They finished the job quickly
and efficiently. It makes our backyard look like the true FL home I always wanted. Thank you Bikini pools!

Once we contracted with Bikini Pools, they provided us with pamphlets showing paver and pool tile samples. Our options were minimal and when we saw the actual product, after ordering it, it did not match the look in the catalogs. This was disappointing and in retrospect, we should have requested samples prior to making a decision. However, Bikini does not have samples in stock and we had to go out and find flagstone pavers and pool tile in order to see it, match it up and get information. (ie: the flagstone rep we visited talked us out of grey due to our pool being in direct sunlight and the heat the pavers would absorb in the sun.) This time and energy could have been saved if we had samples from Bikini. After some miscommunication and incorrect deliveries, the correct product was received and the project started shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday.

GOOD: Work on the pool took about 7 business days and there were no delays. There were several people on the job and each day, considerable progress was made. The pool looked excellent and good workmanship was noted.

BAD: No communication. No Communication. There were no phone calls to point out issues or ask questions if an issue came up (we work 8-5 and were never home during the day to question errors). We would get home and have questions or see an issue and wouldn't get a phone call back until late the next day, by Mike at Bikini, who wasn't at the job site. Throughout the week, we found that the pavers weren't level, there was lunch trash left by the workers, concrete tossed onto our lawn that was never cleaned up, mortar footprints on the pavers, the pool light wasn't functioning, the boarder on our patio was incomplete and the handle bar at our steps was not reinstalled properly after the pavers were put in. Most importantly, the low spots on our decking that required leveling at the time of paver installation (that we specifically pointed out) were still low and collecting water and dirt after the project was over.

When we contacted Mike at Bikini about these issues (daily), he assured us that the errors and poor workmanship would be handled and corrected. Initially, we were told the border couldn't be complete because of the pavers we chose. When he finally visited the site, he corrected himself and had the pavers put in to match the rest of the border. He didn't know that our pool light wasn't functioning and told us to contact an electrician when it was confirmed. Mike did clean the mortar that was tracked on the pavers but the handrail is still not completed. The concrete is still on our lawn, the uneven patio is still collecting water and we had to scrub the pool, add chemicals for a week and clean the filter several times because a pool specialist only visited once. There are still stains in the pool however that have been there since the start that we can not remove. The promise to bring our pool to swimmable condition, was never fulfilled.

We went into this project hoping that the company we chose would treat our backyard and investment as if it was their own. Bikini Pools was fast, but overall, delivered sloppy workmanship and communication. We continuously get told (when calling for updates) that the patio level will be corrected soon, but its been two months since the pool has been refilled, and we feel we still have an unfinished product.

Response from Bikini Pools of Florida Inc
"My customer was not the home owner. I signed a contract with a [name removed] explained to me that he was contracting me to do these renovations because he was living with the home owner and her daughter and wanted to contribute to the household. My communication was with [name removed] only and I have never even met with the home owner. [name removed] and I had extensive communications about every phase of the project from start to finish. [name removed] complained about some puddling on two areas of his deck. The first one was next to an existing box drain and we carefully laid the pavers to accomodate that drain. This existing pool deck was not level and extreme care had to taken to ensure proper drainage to that existing drain. I personally run water with a hose to make sure the puddle drain properly and completely. I told [name removed] that the drainage would not be instant but it does drain as designed so that no standing water would occur to damage said Pavers. Bikini Pools has laid hundreds of decks and we are fully aware that paver decks must not hold water or the product could mildew over time. Upon hearing my response, [name removed] became angry and started screaming profanities at me with the home owner in the background. It would seem [name removed] did not communicate with the home owner as to my consistent and open communications with [name removed] over the life of the project. It is a shame that people can trash a contractors work without any practical knowledge about contruction practices. Bikini Pools did an excellent job on this paver project and we have hundreds of satisfied customers that do not write reviews but are so pleased with our work that they refer me to their friends and neighbors which is how I gain the lions share of my business for the last 13 years"

On January 9, 2015 my husband and I received an estimate to have our pool resurfaced by Bikini Pools. The original estimate was for pool resurfacing, coping and pavers in the backyard. After an extremely high estimate by Mike Melton, the owner of the company, we decided to only have the pool resurfaced. On the original estimate, Mike had quoted us $2,272.00 for draining, prep and hot chemical start up with diamond brite resurfacing. When we spoke to Mike to inform him that we would not be purchasing the pavers and only doing the pool resurfacing, he seemed angry. My husband and I decided that he might just being having a bad day and we moved forward with the process. We hired an outside company to come in and sandblast our pool since Mike's estimate was $700 above any other sandblasters estimate. We called Mike to come and drain the pool so that the work could begin and he told us it would be an additional $250 since we were not using "his sandblaster." We questioned this and Mike said he would write us up a new quote and we could discuss price then. We paid him a $1000 deposit and his subcontractor came over to drain our pool and collect the check. The work involved in draining a pool involves 30 minutes of set up, leaving the pool for half a day, and 15 minutes of clean up. I'm not really sure how that is equal to $250. At this point we had an empty, sandblasted pool and decided to finish the work. Let me begin stating that NONE OF THE WORKERS WHO WORKED ON OUR POOL ARE EMPLOYED BY BIKINI POOLS. They all came in trucks with their own company's name on it. So Mike Melton from Bikini Pools is just a middle man. He takes a cut of whatever you pay these other companies. He never came out to check on the work, nor did he ever visit the job site. But he sure did cash our check a the end.
During the initial estimate we were told that we would receive a $250 discount for giving him a positive review on Angie's list. Keep in mind he wanted a positive review before any work was done. He also agreed to give us a $500 discount if we started work by January 30, 2015. I understand that these $750 worth of discounts were based on $11,918 worth of work and we only ended up having $3,411 worth of work. A $50 discount would have been nice though. Not only did we not receive a discount but halfway through the job Mike called my husband and said that the tiles were damaged during sandblasting and needed to be replaced. He verbally quoted my husband $800 over the phone. When we got the final bill a few days later we were billed $889 for the tile work. HE ADDED ON $89 FOR NO REASON. We also questioned the $250 drainage fee since the work to drain the pool took a total of 45 minutes total and wasn't even done by Mike. We told the subcontractor who did drain the pool that he should ask Mike for his $250 since he performed the work. Mike was not happy about that. We reluctantly wrote the check for the final amount to the subcontractor. We felt bad not paying the man who had actually done the work, and we called Mike Melton to set up a meeting to discuss these extra charges. Mike blew us off for days and in the meantime cashed our check. When Mike came to out home to discuss the discrepancies, he was not prepared for us having both the original estimate and the final bill, which showed a $250 difference without a difference in the description of work. He got rude with both myself and my husband. I am visibly pregnant and Mike yelled in my face when I showed him the two pieces of paper stating that "It was an estimate and he could change it if he wanted to." (I would like to point out that on the back of his estimate contracts it states that no additions can be made verbally, all additions must be signed by both parties.)Mike Melton got in my husbands face, opened his arms and asked my husband to hit him when the conversation got heated. He told us that we would not be getting our warranty since we told him we would share our experience with others on social media and Angie's List.
Mike Melton from Bikini Pools is a terrible business man, he's not even a business man, he's a middle man. Anyone looking to resurface their pool or use any of the companies "services" would be better suited to go elsewhere. BEWARE OF THIS SCAM ARTIST!
Response from Bikini Pools of Florida Inc
"In the 12 years since I started Bikini Pools I have never encountered a more aggressive, unjustified and factually incorrect attack upon my self and my business. The original quote included a complete restoration of the pool and pool deck area. The scope of the work was vast and complete. The customer decided to only pick one item a week later to resurface the pool. I was informed that someone else was going to remove the fiberglass. I told her that was good because we did not like to do that kind of work because it is so specialized. They later ask me to drain the pool for the other fiberglass contractor they had hired.I told her upfront that I would have to charge an additional $250.00 because I would have to send my guys and a truck separately. She agreed. After the fiberglass contractor ruined their tile because he did not tape and cover the customers tile,we asked if they would like new tile. They said they could clean it up and therefore would not need new tile. I said fine. The customers called me back and change their minds about the tile and I quoted $889.00 Again, they agreed. After our work was completed and accepted by the customers, an invoice was delivered. A check was given to my representative that shorted the invoice. by $89.00 But did pay all other monies due. My representative told me he accepted the check as paid in full because the customer issued a threat to start an extensive negative social media campaign because he was very good at doing that kind of thing and had a great deal of knowledge regarding such programs. Before I was even able to talk with my representative less than a hour later, I got a call from the customer demanding to know when he would get his warranty. I told him as soon as I get the check I could prepare the info to submit the paperwork to the manufacturer. He immediately started a profanity laced diatribe that ended with a question as to why I was giving him attitude. This was unprovoked on me and I was astonished at his anger and manner. I suggested that we should calm down and I would be happy to come to his house with the warranty in a couple of days to make sure we parted on good grounds. He agreed. Upon arriving at the customers home the following week we looked at the work and it was agreed that everything was in good order and looked great. At that point he started demanding an additional $250 and became very angry and again threatened to use social media to extract his revenge against my company and myself. I told him I would never be held hostage by such threats. and I tried to leave. He then ripped my file from my hand and told me to get off his property with another profanity laced screaming session. This customer experience is not how I have been able to stay in business for over 12 years and completed over 900 satisfied customers. Word of mouth has been my biggest attribute in obtaining business each year for Bikini Pools"

They did a quick fix and didn't fix the problem. They did a good job at resurfacing the pool. They charged $200 to fix the pump and it ended up being $40 with another company. Another company came out and fixed the leak in the pump. You should get a second opinion before doing anything with them.

We had just bought a house in the area and needed the pool to be resurfaced and a new deck installed. They accomplished the job quickly and efficiently. The results were amazing. It looks like a completely different pool. And since I hadn't touched a pool in over 20 years, they were nice enough to guide me through some tips and tricks for the first time maintenance as well as ongoing maintenance. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and considerate. I highly recommend these guys if you're looking for your pool or deck to be resurfaced.

Mike Melton of Bikini pools was very professional and thorough and we are happy with the work that was performed. His subcontractors did not always clean up as thoroughly as I would have liked but did good work and showed up as scheduled. Being the perfectionist that I am, I pointed out a few small issues with the pavers that I wanted to be changed or fixed and they were very accommodating and took care of it right away.
Crew that did the pool were wonderful. The prep and tile man was very efficient and worked every minute he was here. The crew that did the actual resurfacing were also excellent and seemed to work well together. Clean up was done well too. There was some miscommunication with the owner as far as the progression of work but all was worked out. Would recommend this company.
Over a period of several months, I received bids and ideas from five different contractors to resurface and re-tile our three-level swimming pool/spa/fountain. They all came highly recommended by friends and neighbors. Bikini Pools of Florida was my pick and it turned out to be an excellent one. Mike Melton, Bikini?s president, provided solid advice on the various decisions that were entailed.
He was also very patient and did not push or rush as my wife and I deliberated over several weeks and requested numerous tile samples. Once everything was agreed upon, Mike was put on a tight timetable. Over a period of eight days, I marveled at the organization and workmanship of Bikini?s crew. The end-result was terrific! Mike finished the job on time and on budget. There were no surprises. None. I have since recommended that my son call Bikini when he has his pool renovated later this year. Clearly, I can recommend Bikini with confidence.

The owner of the company was here all the time making sure I knew what was going on with the process. They guys showed up when they were supposed to. I was really impressed with how they stayed on top of everything. He has even been over twice since the project ended just to make sure I was happy.

We are very happy with it. The price was fair for the amount of work they did. They showed up on time, and worked hard for four straight days. They got right to it. We were very impressed with the crew that came out, they were very cordial. The end result looked really good, and still looks good today!

Mike came within a day or two of me calling him and he gave a pretty detailed description of what his team would do. He answered a few questions I had satisfactorily. He left the bid with me to discuss with my husband and said if we had any questions at all to just call him. He was able to do our resurface within about 2 weeks of the time we decided to have him do it. We had to put if off a week because we were going out of town and wanted to be home when the work was done. The crew was professional and got the job done in a timely manner. We were able to get in the pool to swim about 2 1/2 weeks after the crew finished-it takes time to get the chemicals right and at safe levels for us and the new surface. Mike did a great job answering questions and getting the chemicals just right and we are thoroughly enjoying our "new" pool. It's just beautiful now and it looks like brand new!

I contacted Mike Melton with Bikini pools and asked for an estimate. We set a date to meet and arrived promptly on time and provided the estimate to resurface my pool and spa with a Marquis Exposed Aggregate finish. I had previously purchased decorative tiles and he included the installation of these in his price. I accepted the contact and we set up a start date. His team arrived promptly on the start date and proceeded with the work. They were neat with their work and kept me informed of the process and what to expect. Work was completed on time and looks great! I discovered afterwards that my pool light that had been working was not working after the job. I contacted Mike and he quickly fixed the problem with a new bulb. I am very pleased with the work and will recommend Bikini Pools to friends and neighbors.
