I'm very impressed with how knowledgeable and proficient AKD was on all of our projects they do standup work and have been more than willing to make things right! Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good! AKD doesn't do cheap work it's very high quality and it shows!

If I could give Black Rhino a negative star, I would. I have waited to write this negative review, but after a fellow neighbor also got screwed over by this guy, I felt I needed to get the word out. We hired Black Rhino to finish our basement in April of 2019. We got a quote from him and one other contractor and ended up going with him because he really seemed to have it together and was very professional. We were told the project would take up to 2 months.. Over a year later, I am trying to get in touch with him, never getting a returned call and still missing probably $3k-$4k worth of work that I paid for. Some of the things that occurred with this guy: -We were quoted (verbally) for a nice tile shower with a red accent tile. I even saw the red accent tile in the materials. I came home to a cheap white tub kit that I did not pick out. Austin claimed the tile wasn't included in my quote and it would cost another $1500 to redo it. -He didn't install the AC vent in the bedroom -The closet doors were not mounted correctly and had to be removed by us -We never received the custom mantle over our fireplace and the fireplace itself was roughly finished out around it -No knobs were installed or ordered for any of the cabinets -A custom desk was supposed to be built over a pipe that stuck up out of the bedroom floor. Never happened -We found out in the middle of the project that his cabinet guy was a convicted *** offender and he had been in our home/knew the combination to their lock -Speaking of their combination lock-they left it unlocked half of the time and basically anyone could have walked into our house He would also demand payment every week. I got tired of writing checks that often, so I just paid the final balance to avoid the hassle. Big mistake-once I paid him, I never saw him again. He wouldn't return my calls, never refunded any of my money and I was left with a basement remodel that was way below my expectations. Stay away from this place. I am not the only person who has had a bad experience with them.

We hired black rhino custom to build a garage. The price was perfect for my price range that actually helped out because we got exactly what we wanted and more. They were extraordinary in their work. I hired Black Rhino Custom to renovate my kitchen and replace the floors in the kitchen, main floor living space and hallways. From the first meeting with Austin and his team I was at ease, they made suggestions, listened to what I wanted and did not try to upsell. When they returned with samples for flooring, countertops and cabinets – they brought choices based on our original discussions. I could not be happier with the finished product, The Black Rhino team is professional and respectful of my home and my time. They showed up when promised, the estimated prices were adhered to and the quality of the products installed is as discussed and promised. Sure there were bumps in the timeline but Austin and his team smoothed out the issues and made things right and to my satisfaction. Sure stuff can happen during a renovation/remodel but Austin controlled what he could. Before hiring this team I did my research on the internet and called the references supplied by Black Rhino when I requested. All I can assume is most of us do not take the time to compliment a job well done and do not take responsibility for our role in the contracted work. I am already planning my next project with this team, will not consider using anyone else. Thank you Black Rhino Custom team, especially Austin, Leo and Riley, I love my new home!

I am always very reluctant to write bad reviews, I used to be in the home services industry so I know how they can cause real damage for a business. I know some bad reviews are unreasonable. The only reason I'm writing this review is my feeling of duty as a consumer to warn others. Please save your money, energy and time and DO NOT hire Black Rhino Custom, a year and a half after Austin Draper remodeled our bathroom, our bathtub is leaking into the drywall. We called him to come and fix his work and the best he could do is stand behind his 6-month warranty and he told us to fix it ourselves. He did offer to come out and charge us to fix his mistakes. We have water leaking into the drywall from our bathtub a year and a half after he remodeled our bathroom!? Wow! Is this a normal thing to expect from a bathroom remodeling project done by a licensed general contractor? I don't think so. When he was done with the project we were unhappy about many cosmetic things that were done very poorly. He often seemed to have a contentious attitude when we brought up anything. We just wanted to get it over with so we decided to let it slide and not make a fuss, even if we were extremely unhappy with his work. He never sent us a receipt and when we asked him to send me a letter that the project was completed so I can pass it on to the mortgage company he ignored my request. I thought I could trust him, we shook hands, I guess that doesn't mean anything nowadays.

Austin showed up with a smaller door than what was agreed on. Because Austin didn’t like our response to the door size he decided to leave the door and window in the garage and drive away an refuse to install them. Remember we have already paid him $2500 and now he’s refusing to even start the job leaving us with a window and a door that we did not agree on Later that day I went to Austin’s office to find a solution. When I walked in Austin was on the phone with another client(I think her name was Karly) of his discussing her cabinets. Just listening to him talk down to her reminded me of how my wife said he was talking to her. Very condescending and rude! After he got off the phone with Karly I heard him say to the other gentlemen”Can you F@$&@ believe this women”. Austin then asked me if he could help me. I told him who I was and he said “Well aren’t you persistent”. He said this because I had been trying all day to work this out over the phone but he would return my calls he would only text. I then asked him what I needed to do to get the misunderstanding resolved and get the work done I have already partially paid for. We talked back and forth for about 10 mins and got nowhere. Austin would not compromise or commit to doing the job he had already partially been paid to do. He then asked me how he could trust me to pay him if he did the job. Remember I have already paid him $2500 for a job he is refusing to do. He then asked me what I was going to do to make him feel like he could trust me. I ask him what he meant by that. He then said he had lowered his original bid by $600 to get the work. I then asked if he was wanting me to pay him more money. He said no but that’s exactly what he was insinuating. He then accused me of coming to his office to strong arm him which isn’t even close to the truth. I went there to have a conversation face to face. He then said that before I showed up to strong arm him he was getting ready to call my wife to tell her that he would be over to start the job. He then asked me if me if me and my wife are the type of people that always get what they want. That was it for me! I stepped up in his face raised my voice and told him what a piece of work he is. When I was walking out I told him that we will be going court. He then told me that he should grab me by the throat and throw me out. Boy I wish he would have! Austin is a bully and poor excuse of a man not to mention a sorry business owner.

"Well I can start by saying thank you for your point of view. This was fully explained to his wife, They refused to pay for a engineer that would give them the size door they wanted, 36”. So I explained that a 34” would fit but not common, I check in to it, it was 6 to 8 weeks out to be delivered. She gave us 4 weeks to order window, and door and install. We lowered our price 600 to accommodate their budget. I explained multiple times that a 32” possible. When I showed up the husband informed me to pull a supporting trimmer to accommodate a bigger door I refused to do anything illegal. I felt it was best to remove my self from a toxic situation and anything that would jeopardize my license. I called the husband and I said I’m not continuing this project due to his wife and their behavior. Here is her tex message I am sorry for getting upset. We obviously misunderstood one another. I don’t want to end on a bad note. Either way. I hired you.. because your attention to detail from the beginning. Now that I understand why you ordered what you did.. it makes sense. Clean slate. Our company will not be berated or told to do illegal techniques to satisfy any customer. This is our lively hood. They repeatedly called and texted all day, I said at least 5 times I was out. Then the husband showed up to the office to guilt me into doing their job. I said I did not feel comfortable to continue. Then the threats started it did not end good. Reviews will always come but if Black Rhino did something then wrong then why beg us to come back. We made a decision to not work for (. RUDE individuals OR PEOPLE WHO DEMAND WE DO ILLEGAL TYPE WORK TO GET A 2” BIGGER DOOR ) . Their upset over a 2” door difference. 2” inches. If we would have had the time to order the 34” or they could have paid the engineering firm to get the 36”. Thank you"

The people were great and love our finished space. However, did have a few small problems with subcontractors and a few miscommunication issues.

We hired Austin and his Black Rhino crew to rebuild our chimney after we discovered water rot. Austin was a pleasure to work with. All of the crew members were efficient, knowledgeable, and respectful of us and our property. The project included demo, rebuild, replacing damaged siding, re-installing chimney cap, caulking, and painting. Our new chimney blends in perfectly with our home - better than new! We will be calling Black Rhino for any future needs.

It's been fine. They were good company but I have the one to cleaned up their mess and that's fine with me. I will not hire this company again. They squeezed me, the price was expensive. They ordered window but i don't want and I cant afford it.

"We enjoyed working with this client. She was open, welcoming, and patient. We did have a few issues with our suppliers and getting the material to finish the job (like having to wait a month to receive her kitchen hood) but those items were and are resolved. We offered to replace a few windows FREE of CHARGE to thank her for her patience. She declined windows due to concerns that we were going to charge her for them after they were installed. That was not the case. We were simply grateful for her time and wanted to show our appreciation. We are sorry that it did not come across that way."
