Blue Dog Flooring

Just putting out a warning to anyone thinking of using Blue Dog Flooring to install their hardwood flooring. His installation of the flooring is mediocre at best. He took longer to finish than he stated it would take. He did the stairs as well and rather than replacing the side frame runners, he only cut off the nose end of old stairs, then glued and nailed down new steps and risers, which threw off all the measurements. One stair he installed was split, yet he still installed it. When I asked him what he was doing about the gap between the handrail base and the side runner, he said he didn't know because he had never encountered that before. I asked him if he'd ever replaced carpet stairs with hardwood and he said yes. I find it hard to believe he's done them after seeing ours. He left gaps in between hardwood slats on the main floor 1/2 bath. When I showed this to him, his response was "I was afraid that was going to happen". When he 1st began the project, his helper put 3 holes in our wall in the front room, which I repaired with no reimbursement from Jonathan (Blue Dog Flooring owner). Later towards the end of the job he damaged the front of our refrigerator. When I pointed it out, he responded by telling me what he thought I could do to fix it. Once again, I did repair it myself with no reimbursement. Now comes the finish on the hardwood floor. It is supposed to be a high gloss. The wife and I both were very specific about what we wanted it to look like. We said we wanted it to look as glossy as a basketball court, which he assured us it would. It's not!!! He put down 2 coats of satin, then a final coat of gloss and then tells my wife and I that he doesn't understand why it was not a high gloss finish. I've now had 3 different floor contractors, with twice as much experience than Jonathan, come in and look at our floors. They all 3 agree that he needs to sand it all down and start from scratch. He doesn't want to do that. He wants to just buff and pulls another coat over a floor that needs more. I have spoken with other clients of his who told me they had similar issues with him. I also spoke with someone who worked with him, who told me Jonathan struggles to get jobs done in the time he states because he does not give himself enough time and he struggles to apply any finish, other than satin, correctly. Now the wife and I are going to have to pay another $3,000, minimum, to have someone else come repair what we've already paid Jonathan for. Long story short, if any of you are looking to have hardwood floors installed or needing repairs/refurbished, use someone other than Jonathan, owner of Blue Dog Flooring.

We had hired another installer, and they failed to show up. Blue Dog showed up right on time on their scheduled day, and finished in one day. They did an awesome job, and were so professional. I'll be hiring them to finish our laundry/bathroom when our plumbing is done, and they also said they could do some repair work for us on our laminate flooring. This is a great company!

The floors look beautiful! So grateful. Jon also trimmed out our windows and although we haven’t done the final touches to caulk and paint they look really good.

Jon did a great job at a reasonable price. He showed up on time each day and worked diligently. He took care of all peripheral tasks such as haul away of the "old" flooring, purchase of thresholds, etc. In fact, after the installation when we moved out of the house the movers damaged a threshold, and Jon came out to repair it - and at No Charge. Jonathan did a terrific job staining and installing new oak stair treads in my stairwell. Stairs are notoriously difficult, and I am very pleased with his work. Additionally, he installed baseboard and door trim. He is honest, reliable and trustworthy, and charges fair prices. Happy to recommend his services.
