We recently had Blue Frost out to perform annual furnace maintenance and to clean our dryer vent, but were given a deceptive quote for the dryer vent cleaning. We were told that the cost for the dryer vent cleaning would be $95. The service technician who came to our residence did the furnace service - no problems there - and then went to perform the dryer vent cleaning. As it turns out, our dryer vent system is more than 15 feet, and the technician did not have the proper equipment. The technician told us that they would have to come back, and instructed us to call the next business day to arrange a return visit. When my husband called, he was told that the cost would be $195 because our dryer vent system is more than 15 feet. At no time were we told that there would be an extra charge for a longer dryer vent, including when my husband made the first appointment. Furthermore, Blue Frost bought out the company that had previously cleaned our dryer vent and, therefore, should have already known that we had a long dryer vent system. (We moved into the house 4 years ago, and don't remember being told that we have an abnormally long dryer vent system. So who knows if that is even true). My husband asked to speak to a manager because 1) we were quoted $95 2) my husband does not recall being asked about the length of the dryer vent system when he made the appointment, and 3) we were having our time wasted because their technician would have to make a second trip to our home. The manager still insisted it would cost $195 for them to come back out. We were surprised that they would not take responsibility for their mistake, particularly given that we have an annual maintenance contract with them. Why would you treat an existing customer this way? We have one more maintenance visit on that contract, and then we are cancelling. Furthermore, our furnace is 15 years old, and we were considering buying a new one from them next year. Not anymore. We will not do additional business after they misrepresented the cost of a service and wasted our time. The only good thing about the experience was that their technician was courteous. The problems we experienced did not seem to be the fault of the technician (which is why I'm giving them two stars instead of only one).

Bill was very professional and also very nice. He determined the source of the noise (a fan) and corrected the problem in a short period of time.

I paid over 14K for Blue Frost to redo my old air duct including hot water heater, motherboard replacement, air scrubber etc.. I have strewn throughout my basement and crawl the remnants of that old air duct work. I asked the company to clean up the old air duct work. You would think 14K+ of money and work should entitle me to that. However they refused. I have pictures date and time stamped of the old air duct work that is all over my basement ceiling and crawl space.

Blue Frost replaced my air duct system with a new one. In order to do this, they took down most of the preexisting system but did not do a complete job. They left material/tape from the old system hanging throughout the crawlspace and basement. In the process of their work, the released asbestos into the living space because the material/tape had asbestos. I had no knowledge that our house had Asbestos and neither did the former occupants. This year, while we were doing mold inhibition work in our home the air quality tester found suspicious material in that parts of the air duct system that Blue Frost failed to clean and remove properly. We tested that material and it came up as asbestos and fibers were found throughout the surface of the crawl space. We contacted the company telling them they were negligent by not studying the old system and seeing if it posed any risks. The owner responded: We are a Heating and air conditioning company. We know very little about asbestos! This is not our responsibility. I found this to be shocking and disturbing. If you have had any air duct rehab work done in your home by this company or you are preparing to do so, please protect yourself and your love ones. The fibers released by Asbestos can pose a serious health risks to you and your loved ones. Please make sure that your old duct work does not have asbestos and make sure none has been released into the home due to air duct work. As you can see, the owner of this company does not care, take responsibility, and is completely ignorant of the risks of asbestos. For Blue Frost and its employees my message to you: Those who work in the fields of HVAC, insulation, plumbing, home performance, or remodeling and deal with older homes, you're likely to come across many homes with materials that may contain asbestos. You owe it to yourself and your family to take all the proper precautions when working with these materials. You may not have the exposure that killed Nellie Kershaw after only seven years of spinning asbestos fibers into fabric. You may not even get enough exposure over a career to cause problems. Still, do you want to take that chance? I can tell you from my experience with a child with special needs who can have difficulty breathing, it is no fun at all. If you spend a lot of time in the attics, basements, and crawl spaces of older homes, don't mess around with materials that may be dangerous. Whether you're an employer or employee, check out the OSHA page on asbestos and be safe. I can only hope in the future this company will take the necessary precautions and training to protect not only their employees but their clients.
Response from Blue Frost Heating & Cooling
"Mr. [Member Name Removed] First off, we would like to offer our apologies for the situation you and your family are going through. Safety is our top priority here at Blue Frost Heating & Cooling. We wanted to take a moment and respond to the accusations you have made across all of the social media platforms. We were hired by you and your wife on 10/15/2015. We replaced your furnace, air conditioner, and a significant portion of your duct work. You had recently purchased the home and were looking for a more efficient system. Our technicians spent many days in your home. In your crawl space, working tirelessly to give you the system you asked for. We were not hired to do any portion of cleaning of the duct system. Much of the system was adapted for re-use. You called us to come out and adjust a vent that you were not happy with. We sent out a technician free of charge to take care of this. While there you told the technician "by the way you disrupted Asbestos in our home. If you don't pay for it you will be hearing from our lawyer." You were already in contact with our Operations Manager. Why didn't you speak of your concerns at this point? We take safety very seriously and are concerned with the fact that our techs were in your home with no knowledge of being exposed to these dangerous fibers. With such a recent home purchase, a home inspection must have been required. Why didn't the home inspector catch this? Why weren't we informed of the possibility of exposure? Blue Frost is a very fair and honest company. We can give you endless referrals and countless situations that we have rectified. Lawyers and social media were never involved. The sneak attack on our technician was appalling. As with anything there are two sides to the story. We did everything in our power to give your family the best and safest heating and cooling equipment possible. We just wish you would have had the same consideration for us."

I've used their services for 30+ years. The former owner of the company was an old neighbor. They always do a really good job. They're good!

Very high professionalism exhibited by all staff at Blue Frost. Our home needed custom complex ducting in the old basement. A new Trane furnace and A/C unit were installed. The technicians were courteous and also respectful. One removed wall hangings before he was to install ducting so as to avoid damage. The initial salesman review studied what size furnace we needed and prepared a complete proposal prior to any work being done. What was accomplished in two weeks has now provided even heat in all of our rooms. There are four different thermostats that maintain different areas of our home. We would recommend this company to anyone !

Fine, but it seemed to take a long time as they did not have all the refrigerant they needed to refill the system.

Great.  Professional and friendly installers. Discussed all installation plans before starting.  At no extra charge removed unnecessary duct work, replaced water and gas shutoff valves and outdoor fuse panel.  When finished they cleaned up so well you could not tell they were there.

The sales staff was knowledgeable and not pushy to purchase additional products.  Detailed out all services on the quote.  They work on the price to fit within my budget and took time to thoroughly explain what they were doing and how to operate the system in the future.  Would use them in the future and recommend them. <br />

I had a coupon that they didn't honor. I wasn't here but my son was here and so he just paid. They cancelled once. It should have been cheaper, they should have honored the coupon. I have used their company for years. I knew the owner but he sold the business when he retired. Since he was the business owner, I liked him much better. When I needed them, they were always here. I don't know how it is since the guy took over. The previous owner was awesome. He could come out on a Sunday if I had no heat. My mum was 89 years old and accidentally tripped the switch, he came out and fixed it at no charge. I don't know if the same company would do that. I kind of doubt it since I had a coupon and they didn't honor it.
