I have two ratings for the job: Bluestar gets 5 stars, but their finance partner, Wisetack, gets 1 star or lower.
First the good: I needed the damper system repaired for our upper floors system in our house. The system is 3 zones with multiple dampers. The system never worked quite right since new construction and just got worse over time. Two other companies that looked at the system simply balked at doing the repair or replacement. The Bluestar guys didn't and I had the entire system replaced from the crappy builder grade stuff. It works perfectly now.
The bad: the cost of the job wasn't cheap but it was reasonable. I got what I thought was a pre-qualification with Wisetack for a 0% interest rate (with the fine print saying it's subject to change). My credit score is exceptional. I would normally open a new credit card with a teaser 0% and finance a big job with it. I didn't this time because I thought I already had a good rate. Not so, when I tried to use Wisetack the rate jumped from 0% to nearly 12%. Bait and switch. I used another method to pay and had to juggle things around. I was also forced to pay extra for the non-cash price of the install.
In summary: Bluestar is 5 stars with a professional install and a great crew. Wisetack 0% for the bait and switch that cost me extra money.

I contacted Bluestar Air Mechanical for a second opinion after an appointment with Air One. I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running—without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. I highly recommend Bluestar for their reliable service and Isaac’s thorough and knowledgeable work.

It took a few hours to set up. After I figured out the Ecobee thermostat I was able to successfully program it. Technicians are considerate and aim to please.

John, the tech, was patient and thorough as he cleaned and took readings of the system. He took the time to show me what was actually needed to update my furnace and make it work efficiently. Plus my dog really liked John too.

TL;DR — amateur hour, stay away Prima Donna plumber who wouldn’t clean up after himself tracking water all over the house. Made it clear through facial expression/ body language/ snide comments that he didn’t like us taking 90 seconds to clean what he should have. Didn’t drain old hot water heater completely because he was in a rush. As a consequence, it was so heavy that he had to use a dolly to get it out denting hardwood stairs in the process. Hooked up hot and cold water lines to the new hot water heater backwards. We had to point that out to him. Charged us extra to move pipes since the expansion tank would not fit. Even though that was out of scope we accepted the additional charge because we had no other choice. In the process of reversing the hot/ cold lines he jarred the copper lines on our boiler so violently that we thought he might destroy the integrity of our other copper-solder connections. The resulting angle of the hot/cold fix was so bad you could see the stress on one of the 90 degree elbows. He was prepared to walk away thinking that was fine. We insisted that he take out a section of pipe to reduce the angle. He attempted three different times to solder wet copper, which, of course, never works. He ended up having to use a Shark Bite, which he should have used to begin with. Lastly, when we asked him how often the anode rod should be replaced he looked at us like he had no idea what we were talking about ultimately telling us that should be every four years (correct answer is two or more often depending on the quality of your water, according to the manual, which he handed to us). There are a lot of good plumbers in this area— choose wisely. Hope this helps.

Very satisfied with responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism! Danny was able to squeeze us into Blue Star's full schedule at a time that worked for us and called before the visit for clarification about the problem, and after the visit about how things went. John called before arrival to let us know about exact timing, and was very thorough in investigating the problem and then explaining the situation. After consultation, he was able to repair our system. John also discussed what to look out for in case there are problems in the future. We have had our AC unit serviced regularly by other companies, but we will never use those other companies again. Blue Star is superior in every way! Cannot recommend highly enough. Everyone is very experienced at their job and knows what they are doing. This made the whole process very smooth, from interactions over the phone with Danny and the receptionist, estimates and troubleshooting with John, and day-of install with Diego. And most importantly, the actual install of the HVAC equipment was very neat, tidy, and professional. Everything is level and lines up together, seams are sealed, wiring and piping is all neatly routed. A quality install matters more than what brand you choose, and these guys do a great job. I also want to mention that they continued working hard despite how it not only poured rain the day of my install, but the power also went out and they had to work in the dark for a little while.

Bluestar was extremely responsive to our initial inquiry. A representative came to our home to discuss our needs and to offer alternatives. We reviewed a range of options and the pros and cons of various models specific to our townhouse. Once we zeroed in on equipment choices, we compared their upfront cost estimate with other vendors' options and found Bluestar's estimate to not only be lower than other comparative quotes, but the equipment grades & ratings were higher, and the available installation date much sooner than anyone else. We chose Bluestar and they followed up right on schedule. The installation crew was top-notch, the equipment was installed very professionally, and everything was thoroughly tested before job completion. Throughout the process the technicians explained what they were doing, how the equipment functioned, what minor modifications they were making to ductwork in the furnace area and why, and they answered every other question we had. There were no "surprise" cost increases due to the actual installation work. They stayed true to their original estimate. We're very pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend Bluestar as a trustworthy HVAC business.

I was lucky enough to have someone refer me to BlueStar Air Mechanical when my AC started acting up. The home warranty company confirmed that it was busted, but their mechanic was unreliable. After contacting a couple of other companies and having high quotes, I contacted Danny at BlueStar. The next morning (on a Saturday, nonetheless) I met Rhandel who quickly gave me a quote to replace my HVAC system (furnace and condenser). Rhandel was very nice and thoroughly explained my options. My home has two HVAC systems, so he also added a quote for the second system (which was on its last legs, too). The systems recommended were upgrades to what I had (increasing 1/2 ton on each system). To accommodate this, BlueStar included extra ductwork for me so that my house could accommodate. We met on a Saturday, agreed on a price on Monday, and everything was installed on a Thursday. They sent two crews and these guys worked hard for 12 hours straight to make sure both units were completed that day. I was very happy with their pricing and service. I have already recommended them to people I know in need of HVAC service. Pros: Pricing, options, promptness, service. Cons: 3% surcharge for credit cards

I called Blue start because my HVAC was not working. It wasn't heating my home and I had an 11 month old baby in house. I was so scared because I knew my HVAC unit is quite old (20+ years). I called them and explained my situation and they gave me a next day appointment. The technician that came (Diego) showed up on time and was able to fix the issue is just a few minutes. He was very curtious and professional. He did a great job the A/C is working perfectly. The prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who need of HVAC service. It went very well. It's not a job I'd wish on anyone as it is expensive and it was miserable leading up to the replacement installation date. It's even more challenging (and expensive) when your household has dogs that need to be boarded while this kind of work is being done. But you couldn't ask for a more professional work effort or a better result than what we got from BlueStar Air Mechanical, Danny Ruiz and Diego Keller. In addition to the excellent installation work, the company provided an excellent estimate with lots of helpful options. Danny followed-up by promptly registering our HVAC components with Carrier to extend our warranty and providing us with confirmation of the registration. We highly recommend Danny, Diego and BlueStar Air Mechanical.

Danny treated me like an old friend with helpful and timely service. It was refreshing. He inspected the unit, found a failed capacitor caused by an add-on Michael and Sons installed last inspection. Danny replaced the failed part, removed the add-on, and I was back in business in less than 30 minutes. I have a new HVAC provider!
