BLUE TURTLE ROOFING

<p>The first time they came out to fix a leak and they did an adequate job.  They were quick and responsive, but they were a bit expensive.<br /> <br /> I then had them give me a bid for a new roof project.  As the proud owner of a flat roof, I wanted to explore alternatives to tar and gravel and after calling around several roofers found that Blue Turtle was one of the few that were willing to do focus on anything other than tar and gravel.  They came out to give me a bid, which was reasonable in terms of cost but used TPO, which I wasn't sold on.<br /> <br /> After receiving several other bids and further research, I determined that Blue Turtle's bid wouldn't have worked for my project as their bid ignored the existing roof drainage and didn't adequately focus on re-designing the roof pitch for proper drainage. <br /> <br /> I also called them out again for another leak at which point they spent an hour on my roof putting some mastic on it and tried to charge me $350 for it.  At that point, I wrote them off.</p>

Blue Turtle roofing did an amazing "cool roof system" (a white TPO overlay to replace our leaking tar and gravel roof) on our house in San Rafael. It is so cool in the house on summer mornings now that i have to wear a sweater! And the cool temperature stays all the way into evening, even though we have no insulation in our walls. We didn't even put our air-conditioners in the windows this year because the new roof keeps the house about 15 degrees cooler than the old roof did. So no more baking at 5pm when it used to be cooler outside than in. Also, Blue Turtle is the only Bay Area roofer who is "green" certified, which was appealing to us. And Paul Benson, the owner, treated us like family friends, rather than like clients, so the process felt good throughout. And even though it took a week longer than we were told, we were completely satisfied with the work and the price. Oh, and we actually paid less than the original estimate because we ordered a solar roof fan but once they cut into the roof they found there was no attic space so it would have been useless and instead of sticking it in there anyway, they told us to skip it and reduced the price by the cost of the fan. Honesty, integrity, friendly service and excellent work. You can't go wrong with these guys. Seriously.
