Supports placed by a Mountain Brook contractor in 1983 were with a metal plate on top. After 36 years, these supports are still functioning well. Supports placed by Bob Whitley in 2001 were with wood (cheaper for the contractor, but same price for the elderly homeowner) plates on top of support, next to house---at least one is slipping. Don't know about the others. The homeowner was ignorant of the correct procedure. Additionally, the original shine, after 40+ years, on the original hardwood is better than the cheaper shine on the hardwood installed by Bob Whitley 10 years ago. Emphatically, No, I would not recommend this contractor.

"We worked for this person multiple times. She complains about everybody constantly. The supports were placed because we suggested a more thorough but expensive approach and she declined. Therefore we placed the supports. It is not a surprise that she complained about me because she complains about everyone. She even subpoenad me to testify in a law suit where she was suing someone else, not me. And she lost because she had no case. She is constantly negative and not pleasant."

This painter has /had an excellent reputation. <br /> The work was done well. <br /> It went well over the estimate and took much longer than anticipated.he was taking his men of the job frequently to take on smaller jobs in between. <br /> We also needed some woodwork done, which he also took charge of without me having to get another person involved. <br /> He was prompt when I needed the estimate. <br /> The fact that he kept taking his men of the job which was rather large was irritating. <br /> excellent work. <br /> Much later,in 2014, I called him again,knowing that he delivers excellent work. <br /> I received his call back two weeks later. It was a phone message. <br /> I never spoke to him,he never called back after many requests from me. <br /> So, in the end I went with another painter. <br /> I did read that somewhere along the line his daughter had passed away before. <br /> I also read that he had done this to many people before. <br /> I am not sure what all happened to him,but it is very bad business sense. <br />

"Mrs [Member name] is a very nice lady. It is true that a daughter passed away tragically in 2012 which certainly affected me. However her allegation about "pulling men off" constantly during the job is false. The job evolved from a smaller job to a larger one. Since it has been 12 years ago (I mean really!!) I do not remember all the factors on her job. It is TRUE that we are extremely busy. We have over 40 men but we could not have even thought about taking another job in 2014. We are very busy now. If I had the business practices outlined by Ms [Member name], I would not be overwhelmingly busy. Sometimes, you just cannot get to every customer. I am sorry I disappointed her. I am however stunned that she would demean me on Angie's list. I think there needs to be an Angie's list to protect contractors from customers. A couple of her accusations may actually be actionable legally."

I cannot say enough good things about Bob Whitley. It was a very expensive job and he did far above my expectations. I have recommended him all over town. He was extremely professional. His recommendations on materials and his prices were spot on. He absolutely did a quality job I have every got out of a contractor.

The whole story is that he did a wonderful job. I was reluctant to even call him because I thought he would be too expensive. However, Bob knows what you want before you do and knows how to help you do it. I would never bother calling anybody else in the future.

This was a very involved project that started with excavating part of the basement, foundation work, & structural reinforcement before the project could really begin. Bob Whitley assisted with all phases of this, subcontracting portions of the work as needed. Much of the build-out involved working from detailed engineering drawings that involved very specific construction detail drawings designed to preserve acoustical isolation of different parts of the space. The quality of the carpenters provided was outstanding. Very high quality work performed by professional crews. Reliable & punctual. Clear communication. Everyone with the company made sure that I was satisfied with the work performed.
