Tuesday night was MISERABLE without AC. As I lie sweating in bed, with all of the fans running, I pulled up Angie's List to find some relief. I made the purchase for $59 Heating or Cooling Diagnostic Service Call and sent an email to the listed address at 10:34PM, hoping I could get this scheduled pretty quickly. To my surprise, I got a response from Derrick Bohannon at 11:11PM, informing me that dispatch would call me the following day. Super quick response, which is much appreciated! I got a call on Wednesday afternoon and was told that the techs should be to my house between 2-4PM on Friday. I work standard office hours, so I asked if they could call me when they were on their way. I worked through lunch so I wouldn't have to take as much vacation time, and at 3:45PM, I still hadn't heard anything, so I headed home just in case they forgot to call (this was not the case). At 4:30PM, I still hadn't heard anything. I called the office and she told me she would call the tech and call right back. She called back shortly after and said that he was still about an hour away and should be headed there soon. I got a text from the tech about 15 minutes later saying he was on his way (but I was already told that he was a job that was about an hour away). He arrived between 5:45 & 6PM. I understand that some calls take longer, but I feel like this was a bit too much waiting, considering I was originally given a 2 hour time period for his arrival, and he didn't show up until nearly 2 hours after that period was over. I know that this is not his fault, but scheduling could probably be looked at to ensure you're not messing with people's busy lives. I did miss an appointment due to this, but I was able to reschedule, so it wasn't that big of a deal.. But still. Also, when he arrived, he was smoking in the vehicle. Okay, whatever.. But then he flicked the cigarette butt on the street in front of my house... I was definitely shocked. I would have gladly provided a trashcan for the butt, as opposed to having him pollute my neighborhood. He did a great job at fixing the issue and my AC has worked great since (3 days), however, I feel as though customer service is incredibly important too.. So I thought I would share my experience. I probably would hire this company again, but they did not wow me, except for the initial quick response...So maybe not.

Not good. Initial meeting was good and it was explained what I needed. I agreed to there accessment of my system. I was told that I needed to pay $175 for additional work they felt I needed. I agreed to this extra work. They were scheduled to come out on Tuesday after initial appointment. They did come, on time. However the person that showed up was not prepared. He did not know what needed to be done. He had to check his notes. He was not careful with how he treated handled my property. He was there at least an hour and did not do anything. I called the owner when this guy went to his truck and I let him know how uncomfortable this guy made me feel. I did not appreciated him trying to make me feel OK about the guy. He left without doing the job. They were scheduled to come out the next evening which still was bad. I explained that I did not want the guy that came out on Tuesday to ever come back to house. However, on Wednesday the same guy called me saying he was running late. I told him I did not want him to come to my house. The owner called right after first guy saying he could not make it but he finally showed up on Wednesday. He did do a good job even though reluctantly. I have since called them twice, a few days ago, because I have a moisture bubble on my ceiling which is directly under my A/C unit in the attic. I needed him to check his work to make sure I did not have a leak or moisture buildup from the work they did. Each time I called he told me dispatch would call me to set the appointment, I have not heard from them. I will not call again. I am now going to have to get someone else to come and check their work. They came out 7/22, 7/25, 7/26.

Bohannon had to cancel the first appointment they had for the service due to inclement weather. No problem. I had to cancel after it was rescheduled a second time, after I was called in to work that day. I was told by the technician that the office would be in touch with me to reschedule once again. No one contacted me, and my credit card was charged for the service not performed. By that time I was having problems with my air conditioning system which cost me over $1000. At that point there was no need for their service.

And responded in a timely manner. Now with that being said I really wish people would talk to the owner or manager before they start bad mouthing a company. Technician(s) said that a capacitor needed replaced and said my entire coil system and a few other items needed replaced as well. Quoted a "quick fix" of $2000, and a "long term" fix for $6000. Ended up calling an A/C repair guy my good friend uses and he said the capacitor did need replaced, but the guy was full of crap concerning the other needed "fixes". Basically, Bohannon Service Company tried ripping me off for several thousand dollars. Stay away from these folks.

The tech that came out had a chip on his shoulder. He could not find the exact location of the leak, and assumed it was something it wasn't. He would've replaced a very expensive part unnecessarily. The owner is a much better worker but he was not available.

Bohannon Services provided efficient installation of equipment. All personnel were courteous and fairly well versed in their duties. Be sure to have Bohannon installers check for motor speed setting on the air handler before leaving your home. The ADP factory set our blower's motor on 'high' for a 36 ton CFM (air flow measurement), which proved to be too loud for comfort. The higher the tonnage of CFM the higher the motor speed from the factory. I had to consult with the manufacturer on how to adjust the blower's motor speed to a lower speed myself. Bohannon installed a 3 speed motor, but a five speed would allow for more variability of speeds and noise comfort. Not sure if all manufacturers of air handlers set the blower's motor speed in the same manner, so consult with the manufacturer first then the dealer/contractor. Good luck on your install. When you acquire estimates from BSC or any other HVAC, make certain that the items listed for installation are indeed installed once the work commences. Standard 'parts and labor' usually runs two years and up to 5 years depending on the HVAC. To obtain extended warranties on equipment, one has to apply for such at the manufacturers website with S/N and M/N in hand. Don't accept anything less than the best from any HVAC, your paying for it and you have to live with the results.

Derrick suggested several systems for me to compare. I reviewed each one online and picked one that I thought would best serve the needs of my wife & I. I set up a time for the installers to put in my new system. They were a bit late, but let me know this ahead of time. When Chris & Frankie arrived, they had the old system out very quickly, and Derrick arrived shortly thereafter with the new system. They had it installed and running within about 3 hours, including rerouting the freon lines and electrical in the attic to allow better access for storage. My old thermostat was an issue, so Derrick installed a loaner to carry us until he could install a new thermostat. Again, he gave me several suggestions which I checked out, and Tyrone came out a couple of days later to install my thermostat of choice. Overall, a good experience for a necessary expense. Lots of information and choices, very competitive pricing, and a really great system have left me feeling good about the whole process. Very highly recommend Derrick and his team!
