They came ill-prepared but they came.

Maybe it worked out, but it was not the best experience for me. The size of our room was larger than what the deal was, and so it was like $200 more or something. It's like a lot of money and he came in with this other guy and he's trying to make a living. They did the job but they weren't really very good. The whole thing was not good.

This service cost me a lot more than I was anticipating. I thought I would be able to choose my own stain but they insisted on a certain brand. They did one coat and ran out. I went out and purchased more and they said that they would come back the next day. They got so much splatter al over my house and yard. They did not come back the next day so when I contact him, he said he didn't have the money to come back and finish. He did finally come back to complete and brought back several young relatives to help with the job. No one ever came back to clean up the mess.

It went horrible! When they come it was a brother and cousin who worked for the company. They scrapped the deck poorly and they did not get up all of the outside deck paint, so there was patches of paint all over the deck. It looked horrible! I made a comment about it and they said that there was nothing they could do about it because the paint could not be removed. I was angry about the result of the stripping of the deck, but went along with it. After they removed the paint, I was told that I had to get the same color paint that was previously on the deck. Before they left we had a conversation about things which led me toI mention that I had a water heater that needed removal. They offered to take it to away in their truck to a metal scraping place for free, but asked that I not mention it to the owner, one of the worker's brother. I went to Home Depot and found paint as close in color as possible. I bought the paint and we set up the date they were coming to do the work because the owner told me that he was spending too much time with the project and that if we delayed any longer, we would go beyond the expiration date of the deal and I would have to pay the original price of the job, even though we tried to get two days in a row where they could come from Mechanicville when there was no forecast of rain here in Albany. I presented them with the paint and they didn't give any type of an opinion, even though it was definitely not the same color of the spots of paint left from the crummy power wash they did previously. They came the morning we agreed upon when it would not rain and the forecast of the weather would be above a certain temperature for the paint to dry. When the workers camr, they said that in order for them to paint all of the side bars and the stair railing that it would cost me an additional $75.00. They got the owner on the phone and he told me that it was mentioned in the offer, which I didn't see. The workers told me that they did me a favor by pressure washing them ( I didn't even notice that it had been done because the original paint was still on it! All I thought was that I made a big mistake about even purchasing the deal. I just made the decision on the spot that I was not investing anymore time (there was a possibility of rain that afternoon, but they said it would dry before then)with this company anymore and asked them to just leave. They called the owner and I refused to talk to them. They left. He called me again and I refused to answer because I just was irritated of it all. The deck never got done, it rained a little that day and I just thought to myself that I wished I had done more background checking about the company in terms of their professionalism. Needless to say, no one wanted to follow behind another company's work and I just didn't gave the skill or patience to do it myself. The deck ended up dry rotting and I now have to rebuild the deck. I'm not blaming them for that, but I feel that they were the catalyst for things ending up the way that it did.
Very prompt service.
As other reviewers have indicated, always read the fine print of the specials especially regarding the size of your house. Inevitably, the deal is for a house smaller than yours (We paid $549 after choosing the $149 "special").
We appreciated the friendly service that was provided. We did have a few issues with the finished product partially due to the fact we have a white house.
They did a good job. I didn't agree with the paint they used and it's chipping a little bit now.

Boone's came out and did a great job. They were communicative about scheduling and timing, materials needed, etc.
The deal purchased did not include railings, which was made clear upon purchase and as soon as they arrived to power wash the deck. My deck was also over the size limit. This cost me $400 on top of the $199 for the deal I purchased.
They powerwashed the deck very very well, and then stained it equally as well. It looks great.

Refinishing Deck-Mr. Boone was sure to inquire whether I was interested in posts and whether I wanted underside to be completed. (I declined on underside). He also was sure to ask me about birds nests, whether to remove or work around. Pressure washed deck the first day, made sure it was dry before the staining, recommended brush staining in my situation. He had a recommendation for stain including color and brand. He offered to pick up the stain himself if I wasn't interested in putting cans into my car. Was thorough on stain coverage. He had some assistance and he made sure the work was double checked by him and then again by myself-assuring that I would be happy with the job. I was very happy and appreciative of his paying attention to detail.
Pressure washing-House & Shed. While he was here with the pressure washer he asked if I was interested in having house & shed pressure washed. I was, just hadn't had the opportunity to call "my guy". He was willing to match my most recent price. So, it worked out well and he did it that very same day. Mind you, all of the pressure washing is with the use of your own water. On this particular job, when he showed me around the house, I pointed out an area on my porch that needed to be "cleaned up" because some debris must have ricocheted off the close corners of the porch. He agreed immediately and had his guys pull the machine back off of the truck to redo it. Perfect. He double checked my shed, and had the guys come back out to redo the back of the shed--which faces the woods! This man cares about his work and reputation.
Siding repair-House & Shed. A neighbor's tree had fallen on my shed-not enough damage where my deductible would kick in. Anyway, Mr. Boone told me he had been in the construction business before and has had experience with installing siding. He offered to come back and fix my siding. I went to Home Depot for a close match and he picked up the siding for me within a couple days when I could be home. He did an excellent job. I can now cross this too off of my list!
We found some other work that needs to be done (of course there is always something that could use repair) and I will have Mr. Boone back to make those repairs. I am very pleased with his eagerness to do quality work and satisfy his customers. Thx

Arrived on time. Agreed to do things I requested but were not included in the "deal" for an extra fee. Good job painting. Small issue with edges clean up on the floors which I noticed after the fact. I would have liked more attention to detail on this. Overall, a good job for a fair price.

I took a day off off from work to meet with Boone. When he didn't show up at the appointed time (9:00), I was concerned because of recent poor reviews on this company and decided to call Angie's List to learn my options. I decided to wait a while to see if Boone show up, instead of cancelling, since I had already taken the time off.

He finally showed up later that morning for the deck washing and to scope out the deck staining job. He informed me that while the Deal and the coupon did not contain this note or disclaimer, the rails and posts were not included and would cost me an additional $150.00. I agreed to that, and an additional $100 for decking beyond the square footage allowed by the deal. Also, he offered to help me with another job that needed doing, securing some lattice work under my deck for another $100, the total being $350 beyond the Deal price of $199. He washed the deck. He told me I'd need to purchase 7 gallons of stain. He agreed to return two days later, weather permitting, to do the staining and additional work.

Two days later, I took another day off from work to be at my home while the work was being done. The weather was perfect for the job- temps in the 60s and sunny skies. I bought $300 worth of deck stain at my local paint store at 7:00 AM.

When Boone did not arrive by 8:30, I started calling the one working number I had for him. (He had previously informed me that he had to cancel his business phone, and he also had closed out his business checking account.) My calls went to voice mail-- something that other recent Angie's List posters had mentioned.

On my third or fourth call, at 10:30 am, his wife picked up. I told her that I had expected Dan and his crew here earlier, and she offered to contact him to find our when he'd arrive, and said she would call me right back. I waited 30 minutes and then called her 3 more times over the next hour. On my 3rd call, I told her that I was cancelling the job.

Then I called Angie's List to report the no show and to inquire about my options.

Then, after 2:00 PM, he showed up at my door. I told him I'd cancelled at 11:00 when he was a no-show. He said, "You know, I've been trying to get a hold of my wife too, but she won't call me." I told him that was no way to run a business and I that I was done. He mumbled something about Angie's List owing him money as I closed my door.

I think that Dan Boone knows painting and probably can even do decent work but perhaps he has personal problems that interfere with his ability to function professionally. I hope that Angie's List does a better job of screening the companies they use for The Big Deal. This is why I joined Angie's List- to do the screening for me.

While I was told by Angie's List that they will give me a credit for the Big Deal, I'm now I'm stuck with a $300 worth of deck stain and it's getting too late in our northeast Fall to schedule someone else to do the job. Very, very disappointing.

I give Boone Painting an F, and given the number of serious issues that others have been reporting and continue to report on this Big Deal and on other work by this contractor, I hope that Angie's List will help members seek fair resolutions.
