I am dissatisfied with your provider's unscrupulous and deceptive business practices. An initial payment of $2,500 was made to cover provider Mr. John's expenses, and Mr. Johns was to keep receipts for materials. The contract specified that work would occur in stages, with payments upon completion. The first stage was to remove the original paint from wood molding, remove dents and holes from the surface of the walls with plaster and sand before painting the interior throughout my home; secure front and back doors, remove and replace termite-damaged wood in the interface of the doors. Mr. Johns painted over unsmooth, unsanded plaster and left dents on walls throughout the home; painted over wood molding, and barely painted walls, you can see the original paint color. Mr. Johns, I believe, took advantage of my being in Atlanta and his work done in Florida, Face-Timed me portions of completed work, stating that he was finishing up and needed payment. I did not know that Mr. Johns was only FaceTime, just a section of work that looked completed when other sections were not. I questioned why the doors interface was unfinished. Mr. Johns claimed to have left his tools at home and would complete the carpentry work on the second stage, which consists of two bathrooms. Funds were sent for materials to start bathroom tiling, plumbing work, and carpentry repairs to the floor, build a vanity, etc. Mr. Johns would periodically FaceTime his progress. Mr. Johns asked for payment, claiming again on my reliance, he had finished after funds were sent to cover materials for new sinks, faucets, and cabinet handles. I relied on Mr. Johns, since we had communicated long before entering into a contract. I became suspicious and questioned Mr. Johns, asking for additional payments for other stages in the contract, supposedly not yet entered into. Upon my request, a friend and neighbor in Fort Pierce, Mr. Obayami, came over to check his work. Mr. Obayami reported Mr. Johns had badly painted over molding, leaving dent marks and unsanded plastered surface areas throughout my home, and the bathrooms were unfinished. Mr. Johns breached the terms of the contract, starting on other stages of my home, admitting he had hired and relied on three friends who didn't follow his orders. Mr. Johns claimed he had no other helpers but assured me he would complete the work. According to Mr. Obayami each time he came to check, Mr. Johns was not there, work was the same as he observed the day before, or unfinished. I contacted Mr. Johns at home, stating he doesn't have workers other than his girlfriend, and he has to watch her because she paints badly. Mr. Johns indicated he had capable workers before we entered into a contract. Mr. Johns repeatedly thereafter contacted me requesting payment, claiming he was finished with the unfinished stages. Again, each time Mr. Obayami reported, his work was still unfinished. Mr. Johns either left the work as it was the day before, worked a few hours, or did not work at all. Yet, Mr. Johns continued to contact and attempt to mislead me into believing his claim, all the stages of work were completed, when Mr. Obayami pictures proved otherwise. Finally, the calls went unanswered, and Mr. Johns did not show up for two weeks to fulfill his obligation. Finally, by April 30, 2025, when Mr. Johns refused to answer my calls and subsequent texts, I decided to file this complaint for breach of contract. I had relied to my detriment that Mr. Johns was an honest Angi Provider.
