Jim is extremely friendly and responsive. However, as the weeks stretched into months - and he increased the costs of services twice, my patience grew thin. It took nearly 3 months for 2 bathroom renovations. And throughout the process Jim and his team kept asking us basic questions you would think a home contractor would know. <br /> One of the questions was "how high do you want your shower curtain bar?" It's literally a standard size (75-77 inches). When I came home, it was installed ~6 feet off the ground. I'm 6'4 and was pretty confused why it was so low. I had to ask them to move it. <br /> Similar experience with them placing mirrored medicine cabinets. One bathroom has them so low I can't see my face without squatting. The other bathroom (because we complained) has it so high my wife can't see her face.  <br /> Jim subs out most of his work. We were very lucky that his tile crew did an exceptional job. The rest of the work is pretty mediocre for the price we paid. <br />

Jim and his father "Bill" did an excellent job for us from start to finish!  Jim came to our  house to give us an estimate.  He arrived on time and was very thorough and clear in assessing our problem and explaining what needed to be done.  He was very responsive to all our questions and concerns.   He provided us a proposal and contract which set forth in detail the work they would do, the materials they would furnish, supervision involved, and particulars of payment.  We were very pleased with his total cost estimate.  Within a few days, his father came to do the work and he did an outstanding job!.  Like Jim, he arrived on time and set about his work.  He cleaned up when he finished, leaving no sign of the work that had been done.  To say that we were satisfied  with the service given us by Jim and his Dad, is an understatement.  They are "good guys" and professionals who do excellent work!  We hope to have them work on more projects for us.  And, yes, we are recommending them to family, friends, anyone who wants a great job done!   <br />

Our house got hit by lightning on July 19.  The insurance company did not have anybody good on their list. After checking here (and Yelp) I came up with three names.  One contractor came out and stayed about 10-15 minutes and then way underbid on the estimated job from the insurance company. When I contacted them about it they never got back with me.  Another contractor had dollar signs in their eyes and claimed they could get the insurance company to fork out more, gave us a verbal estimate but never a written one. <br /> Mr. Brown was the only contractor who came and took his time, looked at the estimate from the insurance company and worked within the parameters. Plus he promptly gave us a written estimate.  I appreciated his straightforward way of working with us, did an especially great job on the exterior work and really freshened up the upstairs bathroom once the hole in the side of the house was fixed!  I highly recommend him. <br />

He and his father did the work for me and they did any excellent job.  Very professional, nice people.  Cleaned up completely after the work was done.  I would recommend him to anyone.  Very satisfied. <br />

I feel like they did about $2000 worth of work. He is straight forward, stayed to the price, and did extra that wasn't billed. They were on time as well.

<p>I went on Angie's List seeking someone to do several home improvement projects, including remodeling the master bathroom.  I located Brown's Custom Contracting who had a wonderful rating on Angie's List.  After reading the reviews, I decided to send an e-mail outlining the type of work I wanted done.  Jim Brown, the owner, contacted me immediately and we set an appointment for him to come out to my home.  Mr. Brown arrived on time and was very cordial.  My husband and I liked his attitude and sense of humor immediately.  We discussed the projects in detail, with Jim offering several excellent ideas.  He said he would send us a proposal.  After receiving Jim's proposal, in which he worked to stay within our budget, we hired him.</p> <p>Jim was professional and patient throughout the project.  Jim took time out of his weekends and evenings to help us locate our bath fixtures and everything that was needed to renovate our bathroom.  He far exceeded our expectations.  Throughout the project, he kept us in the loop so that there were no surprises at the end.  We appreciated his thoughtfulness and candor during the project.  He is not a contractor that will nickel and dime you to death.</p> <p>As part of the bathroom remodeling, we had asked Jim to install an exhaust fan above the window.  Jim called us immediately to inform us that the location would not work.  We decided not to install the fan.  Jim called us back with an alternative.  We left the details to his discretion and everything worked out well.  He found he could install the fan in the ceiling and vent it outside through the soffit without it being noticeable from the outside.  Jim knows his craft which we appreciated.</p> <p>Also, we had asked Jim to paint a bedroom.  When he started to do the requested painting, he thought the color we had chosen was not going to work.  Jim immediately called to inform us.  He left the sample on the wall for us to decide if we wanted him to continue with the color.  He was correct.  We chose another color and it is beautiful.  We are glad Jim had the foresight to notice that the color was wrong and not proceed.</p> <p>While working in the basement near the furnace to vent our dryer outside, Jim smelled gas and brought it to our attention.  He also had someone test our HVAC system for the gas leak.  To our surprise, we did have a small gas leak that we had not noticed.  It shows how diligent he is in doing his work above what is being asked of him.</p> <p>We have been very pleased with Jim's workmanship and the caliber of individuals that work with him.  Upon seeing the finished bathroom, we could not believe it.  It is beautiful.  Jim did a fantastic job.  We are so pleased.</p> <p>If you want to work with someone who has integrity, ethics, extraordinary work habits, patience, a great personality, and knows his craft, Jim is the person.  We would definitely recommend Jim Brown of Brown's Custom Contracting to anyone.  We will be using him again.</p> <br />

We were preparing our home in order to sell it and consulted Angie's List for contractor/handyman services.  After getting three estimates we chose Brown's because we were impressed with Mr. Brown's approach to the job.  When he saw the scope of the work the one thing he wasn't sure of was the cost of the painting job so the next day he brought in his paint specialist.  Then he was able to write up an accurate estimate for the entire job.  We appreciated his willingness to make two trips to our home to be sure of his pricing.  During the job Mr. Brown and his team were on time and rarely took breaks.  If Mr. Brown was going to be delayed he called to let me know.  When he shopped for knob replacements for the bathtub he brought two different styles for me to choose from.  He didn't assume he knew what I'd want.  And he and his team cleaned up after themselves.  The job is not quite complete.  The weather has been too cold to paint the basement door so Mr. Brown wrote on my contract that the door would be painted when the weather allowed.  I'm sure it will be done asap and to my liking. <br />

They are very responsive. They go above and beyond to make sure their clients are happy. Both times I have been very satisfied with their work.

Mr. Brown was very prompt in returing my call to setup an appointment to look at the job and provide an estimante. He was also very professional and thourough in looking at all causes to the damage. He got right back to me with an estimate within a day and was able to schedule work withing a few days. Old drywall was demoed and he verified there was not any mold or damage that need to be addressed once ceiling was down. New drywall was installed and painted and it looks like it was never cut out. Very professional work and service. <br />

Jim at Browns Custom Contracting was a true pleasure to work with. From the initial quote and walkthrough to the ongoing work and completion - Jim was very professional, courteous, and considerate. <br /> We had a pretty intense plan for a remodel of our unfinished basement. Jim was integral in offering ideas/opinions to maximize the space and make the areas more usable and maximized. <br /> The daily work was captured and cleaned up above expectations and again was a great experience. <br /> Overall the project was on-time, within budget (even when we added a little more :)) and most importantly a really great job. <br /> We would and are going to use Browns Custom Consulting again in the future. <br />

Jim was very responsive to my phone call and was very pleasant to deal with from beginning to end. He came to our home to give us an estimate and then several weeks later we were able to schedule our work to be done. Jim and an assistant came to do the work. It took them the entire day and they stayed late to complete the work in one day. They did an excellent job. The work quality was excellent. <br />

I called Brown Custom Contracting based on the previous review and I am so happy I did. (I moved into the area a few months ago and always weary when contracting jobs to people.) I called to ask for a quote, and within hours Jim, the owner, quickly showed up to my house to give me a quote for the yard work I needed. He gave me a fair price, best quote a got from the area. I am extremely pleased with Jim's work and would contract any further work to him. Highly recommend him.

I had a wonderful experience form start to finish.  Mr. Brown very professional and I will be using his service again. <br /> <br /> I experienced a water leak in an upstairs bathroom, and I had a hole in the ceiling and paint damage to the room below.   I needed the drywall repaired and the ceiling repainted. Mr. Bown gave me a very professional estimate and kept true to his estimate. He explained some issues that may cause a delay in completion, such as the drying of the paint or materials needed for repair. Mr. Brown cleaned up everyday and showed me his progress. I was very pleased that he was able to work around the furniture  in the room and did not have any damages to my property. I am completely satisfied with his work and the level of respect he showed to me and my property.  I will be using his service again.

In the past, I have had a lot of people / contractors perform up-grades and fixs to my home, none of whom I would use again! Then I met Jim Brown of Brown's Custom Contracting LLC. He was very personable and most of all extremely professional! He showed up perpared,on time each and every day and at the end of each day he cleaned up after himself.he even did a few little touch-ups on his own without charge or being ask! Family and friends that were in for the holidays all loved the way the home and yard looked! For the first time I feel and believe that I got more than my hard earned monies worth!!! I was dealing with a tight timeline to prepare my condo for re-sale and a cross country move.  Browns Custom Contracting took this to heart and accelerated the process to reduce an already stressful situation.  They met with me promptly and began work immediately. The master bath needed a lot of work as the result of water damage.  They swiftly came in replaced the drywall, caulked the tub/shower, painted the entire bathroom, replaced the flooring and molding , mini blinds, toilet seat (including repair), and cabinet knobs.  I replaced the shower curtain and, dare I say, after completion it looked better than it had ever looked while living there for eight years!  Every "i" was dotted and every "t" was crossed as it related to perfection.  The second bath was painted with molding replaced.  In both cases, they worked with me on color selection.  It is these fine attention to details that mean so much.  Also, a VERY important aspect is that you can "walk away" during their work and NEVER be concerned about the safety and security of your home.  They can be trusted ex·plicitly.  Thanks, Browns Custom Contracting!
