Five issues. 1) Turns out what he said was a shut off valve was actually a pressure valve. So he lied. 2) He cashed my check for upfront half payment immediately and never showed. 3) He was incredibly difficult to get a hold of via text, cell, Facebook message, and website message after he cashed my check. 4) The business address doesn't exist. His award claims on his website do not exist. His claims of woman-owned company are false. 5) He never performed the work, and when I finally got in touch with him and he agreed to drop off a check to refund me, he never showed up with it. He stole my money. I filed a criminal complaint, but the police said it's a civil matter. I filed a BBB complaint, but he never responded. I filed a complaint with the plumber licensing board, but he has not responded to them either. Stay far, far away from this guy.

They were good. They did the work. I think their services were good. What I dislike is that they were trying to sell products that we weren't interested in doing at that time. They came out on the same day. They had to get back to their office and get a piece of equipment. They came back and finished it.

It went very well. I didn't have them do any additional work. They're very helpful. They know what they have to do and how much it will cost. They can give it to you upfront. They showed up on time.

The initial experience was very positive and responded quickly. They replaced the leaking part and all seemed well. A few days later there was still evidence of a leak. They came back out and found that the part replacement had caused a “different” leak that was not evident to the technician at the time of the first repair despite being very evident. When questioned about how this leak could have been caused and or not seen at the initial visit the technician claimed he did not cause it and it would be an additional service charge. A responsible company would have stood behind their work. Also would not use them again even if the job was done correctly the first time due to the high labor cost for 1 technician. <br />

We saw the LocalDeals included an offer from Brown and Sons.. and we knew already we needed some attention to an issue in our laundry room. We saved a few hundred dollars by using the deal. The service was polite, attentive, prompt.. very pleased.

The plumber who performed the service took $99 (what I paid for the big deal that was supposed to be two hours worth of plumbing) off the total bill. The plumber stopped in the middle and took his lunch. He had to cut a hole in the living room wall to get to the back of the fixture and left the hole there telling my wife he doesn't do that type of work. Based on this guys work I will use anyone else but brown and sons plumbing. <br /> If you ever get a big deal make sure the company will do what the coupon claims prior to purchasing. <br />

February 2012: Brown and Sons came out and correctly diagnosed, then successfully repaired, several underslab leaks in our hot water line between the water heater and the master bathroom shower. Initially, they estimated the job at $3,200 which included all leak location diagnostics, equipment including jackhammers/drills, and other parts and up to nine hours of labor to access and fix the leak, which was originally thought to be in only one place under the master bathroom. After the first full day of jackhammering, the guys left completely exhausted and a bit discouraged because they had discovered that my house happens to have and quot;the hardest concrete foundationand quot; they had EVER jackhammered through (which I guess is a GOOD thing from a slab stability standpoint, but a real problem if you have to drill through it for any reason), and it became clear that drilling the hole big enough for them to get to the leak was going to take at least another full day. The next day, they showed up with a much larger and more powerful jackhammer in addition to the smaller one from the day before...and 6-7 hours (and several more dulled bits) later they were able to repair the originally diagnosed leak, plus start jackhammering out a 2nd hole where they'd discovered an additional leak(s) several feet away in my closet. Finally, after four full days of grueling jackhammering and drilling, both leak locations were repaired and the holes filled back in with concrete, which they mixed by hand outside and then hauled into my house one bucket at a time to keep the mess to a minimum. Those guys all demonstrated concern for my comfort and inconvenience during the whole nightmare, and they did a very good job of trying to mitigate the duststorm by cordoning off the work area with plastic sheeting. It was a huge mess, but Brown and Sons did a fine job of keeping the mess to a minimum in my opinion! And in spite of the horrible hardness of my concrete foundation, they kept a great, positive attitude (although they likely cursed my concrete foundation ALL the way back to the shop everyday!...haha!!) <br /> October 2012: I called Brown and Sons again to fix a gas leak at my fireplace, and they did so very quickly and cost-efficiently (only charged me $100, which included the $49.00 trip fee), and without trying to talk me into other repairs to make this trip more profitable for them. <br /> Both experiences left me with a very positive opinion of Brown and Sons, and I would recommend them to ANYone who needs plumbing-related services! <br />

They were entirely satisfactory. They came out on-time and they came quickly. There was one person on the call. The price seemed reasonable. It's only been a week, so it's hard to say anything about the quality. The toilet works, that's what I can say.

I knew I only had a limited amount of hours so I wanted to show him everything that I was concerned with. I asked him to give me his opinion on all the matters that I had in my home. He started to move really slow and he did not check all of my issues the first time. He told me that the shutoff valve was frozen and that we had to have the whole valve replaced. I noticed that he barely tried to turn the valve, and I was able to shut off the valve with a wrench and I replaced the rubber seal with one that I bought from the hardware store. I also had a leak under my sink and he told me that I was going to have to replace the shutoff valve again. Again, I was able to shut it off myself and fix the leak. He gave me a long list of things that I needed to buy, but did not make any repairs. I felt that I was getting ripped off and when I called the office they did not try to send anyone else out. The man was there for 45 minutes and I like he was wasting my time so I asked him to leave.

<br /> Last June, I purchased an Angie's List coupon for 2 hours of plumbing service for $99. I needed an outside hose bib repaired and since there was time left over I also had them reseat a rocking toilet upstairs. The repair was great on the outside hose bib, but the toilet job took me over my coupon time and I had to pay for extra time to complete the job. In September, I called them back out for warranty repair because the toilet upstairs was leaking down to the ceiling of the bathroom downstairs. They replaced the flange of the toilet upstairs and reset the toilet. This repair worked fine until this month (March) when the toilet was leaking again. I had in the meantime called out a drywall repair company to replace the ceiling spot downstairs where the plumber needed access to the pipes upstairs. Today, Brown and Sons Plumbing came back out for another warranty call, even though it was not clear if the leak was related to their previous work or the drywall repair. They worked quickly and professionally to find an additional leak and repair it. To show good faith, they did this work for me at a 50% discount because they couldn't rule out that it was somehow connected to previous work (although this was not determined). I appreciate their professionalism, and their willingness to put me (the customer) first in their consideration and resolution of my issue.

I was put in a bad spot with the and ldquo;upfrontand rdquo; pricing of the job. I was not and ldquo;Treated as Familyand rdquo; as their web site says. They took advantage of me on an emergency call . The plumber was asking questions that weren't plumbing related and used the situation against me to drive up the price. The plumber was on site for a total of 2 .5hours and three short trips. I thought I was getting an expedited service for the high price to get the gas on at the house ASAP. The high price did not include any expedited service with the city permit or the local gas company. I was without gas for 4 days. As I found out later, what should have cost about $160.00 - $200.00 cost me $519.00 even though I troubleshoot and repaired the leak MYSELF before the plumber arrived. All the plumber had to do was test the system and call the city for a permit. ( $35.00) . I called the company and they offered me $100 off the NEXT service call and no $49.00 trip charge. USE THIS COMPANY WITH CAUTION. Don't be fooled by their nice web site.

"The member may have called at 11pm Wed night; but the call was scheduled for the next working day, between 1-3. As for the upfront pricing he agreed to the price before we started. We did explain the process to him before the technician started. If there was a problem then, yes he most certainly could have called another plumber. We do things by code; and will not be held responsible for a residents work he performed on his own had something did go wrong. The appointment was on Thursday. The Job was finished Friday therefore after inspection it was up to the gas company to get the gas on in a timely manner. The technician did make us aware that the inspector did red tag the job not because there was a leak but because there was an illegal fitting that needed to be removed & rather than let our technician do the work; the home owner wanted to do it his self. There for this was pretty fast service considering we had next day inspection services from the city. Price isn't everything & we cant control the gas company. We did give him a future coupon for $100 off the next service call. Just because you aren't happy with the price every time doesn't mean you can get your money back every time. Good Service isn't Free.We are a quality company that has a good reputation for the last 15 years. It seems like everyone's complaint on this site is about price when we give that upfront; you do have the chance to search for someone cheaper if that's your preference. We don't sell parts we sell service & warranty."

Worst experience ever! They rescheduled on me 3 times; then were 7 hours late without calling and advising of delay; didn't do a good job, asked for a recall to correct the problem they left behind and they cancelled on me at least one more time. <br /> <br /> I eventually finished the job myself. Will never use these folks or recommend them to anyone. <br /> <br /> Also feel I overpaid. I purchase the Angie's deal ($99 for 2 hrs of labor). The job took him 2.25 hours, $100 in parts, yet I had to give them a check for $355. So a total of $455??? I complained and they eventually gave me $100 back. I wasn't happy with that, but knew I wanted to cut my losses.
Response from Brown & Sons Plumbing Inc
"This is not rue at all this customer purchased a big deal coupon, and could not have anyone out during business hours had to be after 5 or weekends ,which make its hard when we run emergency during them times and guys are on overtime pay.We were trying to work with this lady and could not get her to agree on a time she canceled 3 times I know , and I sent her, her money back to please her and was going to go back as the owner on a sat. for her to fix something on a cheap faucet we installed that she bought which we normally do not warranty . So she is not telling the truth she got us real good we lost aprox. $300 on the job plus labor, time scheduling ect. Our focus is on clients that need same day service and/or wants quality service as you can read in other reviews, their are the clients that wont this kind of service and appreciate it. We are not a "bargain"plumbing company,If that is what you are looking for then we tell you to find someone else,Company's that work out of the back of their truck with a cell phone and a pager that can get to you in 2 weeks are going to be cheaper and more than likely not licensed ,background checked or insured up to 2 million dollars this obviously cost more to operate the way we do but our goal is to provide the best service in the DFW area, and we are very successful doing this, their are just these few clients that are just wanting the cheapest price and that is all that matters,if this is you we understand, but we are not the company for you. there are other reviews on here that are not quite accurate but most of all if they will not hie us again it has to do with pricing. But they seem to be very happy when the job turns into a nightmare and they were not paying by the hour and we stuck to our price we gave up front,We are not making cause we "rip 'People off.I am not meaning nothing bad in this comment but you cannot make everyone happy nor are we the company for everyone. But with that said If you are looking for quality service and clean techs we are your company,We wish everyone the best and hope their would be no hard feelings that is why I refund money, that way you cannot complain but some still are . That is not being fair to consumers reading these reviews and trying to find the right company. Thanks Ken Brown Owner"

The work was great and they did a good job. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it at the price they quoted; so I can't complain. I will use them again in the future.

I spent $750 for their service. It was much more than I expected. The work was good. They were on time and did what was requested, but they underestimated the amount of time it would take to do the job. I don't know if I would have reconsidered, but it was quite a bit more than I expected to pay. I would probably use them again.

They were very nice and professional. They completed the job and only then they left the place. They shared information which was relative to the issue and did a good job. I used a flat rate coupon and the work was exceptional for that price. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

Technician was supposed to be at our house earlier in the day. We needed to leave around 5. He came right as we were walking out to leave. Punctuality (or lack thereof) was frustrating. Company or tech didn't call to tell us if he was close to being at our house. We had to call them. Repair was really good but we believe that almost 300.00$ was a bit much for the work he did. But we are satisfied with the work done.

Scheduler very pleasant on phone, returned my message promptly and gave me a prompt appointment; explained their policy of charging for the call, and that the call charged was waived if their estimate was accepted. I found that fair, as I would not expect a tradesman to spend time travelling to my location and providing the estimate for no charge. Plumber called to advise he was en route, and arrived as scheduled. At this point, I was favorably impressed. I showed them(2 men were sent) the location of the leak; it was easily accessed by unscrewing a panel and was approximately 2 feet from the opening (house is pier and beam). They saw the issue immediately. They explained their fixed-price system to me and went to look up "repair single T, pier and beam" -- then gave me the estimate of $697. I was stunned. But I had NO WATER. I am one of many in this situation due to severe weather in this area, and so felt I had no choice. The repair was complete in less than 20 minutes. They stood around for the glue to dry and tested the repair. They were gone within 30 minutes of arrival. I paid it, but will NOT risk that again. Time and materials should have been at most half; in fact, a similar repair less than a year ago was less than $200. The workers were pleasant and prepared to fix the problem, and I know the pricing was not their fault; nevertheless, I feel thoroughly ripped off. This company's policies may work well for a complex job that merits the costs involved in their fixed pricing, but I will not use them again for any small job.

"Will you please give us a call I have got all details of job now and would like to discuss your issue. Thanks again Ken Brown owner. I would like to add that there is no way of knowing how long a repair will take especially when all the lines were frozen and can very easy turn into a all day job but I am sure you would have been pleased if that dis happen and the charge still stayed the same that is why we are set up this way that way you know the total cost no matter what."

I spent $2431 on the job. They were very professional. They hung plastic drapes to ensure the house didn’t get dirty. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. They are very upfront about their cost. Their price is more of a flat rate than the other quotes I had received. I will use their services again in the future.
Response from Brown & Sons Plumbing Inc
"I thank you for your review as you can read above some people dnt understand the cost of running a service company. And it was not a 20 min job, I have tried to reach out to them to discuss this they will not answer,We had to repair a lak on a frozen line under a mobile home> There was no over charging everone gets the same price for each job. But thank you for helping our ratings and it motivates us cause not to many customer ever show thanks to Service Techs."
