"We were putting lipstick on a pig!" This was the response Mr. Beechler provided by phone on December 27, 2024, after I arrived in Louisville and inspected his work on December 26, 2024, to my expressed concerns for the apparently unprofessional, shoddy, and damaging paint job he was, otherwise, professionally contracted to provide. This was inconsistent with initial representations of his "20-years of professional painting experience." I had expressed initial concerns over a prior painting experience and apprehension for other low quoted jobs where I did not feel assured the needed prep would be contracted, nor provided. Mr. Beechler, preying these concerns, assured me he would "sand, caulk, clean, and provide all prep to make his work look awesome." I insisted this be provided in his quote, which was emailed and bonded by a deposit of 1/3 ($600) charged to my Chase business credit card on 12/9/24. We had also extensively discussed my concern for the contractor grade paint he intended to use, which reviews rated several grades in quality below the Behr Premium Ultra I had planned and quoted to use. Ultimately, my decision to proceed with his service was secured with the assurance he would use my preferred paint at no addition charge and include this in our contract. When omitted, he provided this in a subsequent email and text confirmations prior to payment. Mr. Beechler was higher than other quotes I obtained and subsequently increased this an additional $400 after having an opportunity to view the job. I retained his services stating I was willing to pay more for the professional job he was promising me. On December 26, 2024, I arrived and inspected my home. Upon entering the kitchen, I noticed paint had been picked out of the kitchen GFI outlet. This outlet, as well as the bathroom GFl outlet were painted over completely to the point that they could not be tripped or reset. They, along with all electrical outlets switches, covers, . . . in the home had been painted over. I am unaware of any professional painter who would not prep by removing electrical covers and taping over the fixtures and no individual who would claim otherwise. The damage, alone, incurred to replace all damaged outlets was $695 and this has been completed. There was no evidence of any sanding or caulking prep around window frames. I personally caulked above five of my eight windows, which was previously discussed and contracted with Mr. Beechler. Initially when this was presented to him on 12/27/24, he minimized it to two overlooked and he could fix this in 10 minutes, overlooking the fact that his professionally contracted services were to include this prep prior, and the subsequent painting over. There were unfilled screw/nail holes, a still visible stain through the kitchen ceiling, previously discussed and uncharged to add Kilz paint that was so thinned out along with the wall paint, it appeared through and will continue to stain through, requiring repainting likely in a couple of years, instead of the 10 - 15 minimum anticipated with a professional paint job and professional paint. There is no evidence the contracted Behr paint was used, Mr. Beechler did not respond to a request to provide receipts for materials on 1/16/25. The has been no follow up on his part since 12/27/24. Paint buckets were left outside, my CO detector was found, unrestored, outside in the grass by my tenant, the shower surround and windows were covered with paint and over spray, hardware was just painted over around windows, bathroom fixture, anchored with 2 screws, were not removed, fans were left covered, at bases, instead of "dropped," but only after spraying onto one of them, smoke detector mount was similarly painted over instead of removing two screws, . . . All these damages and cleaning created additional work for me, exceeding one full day by which I was postponed for my planned departure from Louisville.
