CalState Moving & Storage

We contracted them for a moving service from Berkeley CA to New Jersey and New York. The service was very bad, the two key problems, where 1) They originally quoted me $5,832 but ended up charging me $8,154. 2) There was a significant amount of damaged and missing property upon arrival to the destination. Over all, the communication on the dates and the service it self was also bad. We have a written detail documentation of all the problems including pictures that we would be happy to share with Angie's List if requested.

"Calstate Moving and Storage" is a a complete disaster with total lack of accountability. They did not show up on the agreed date; lack of professionality in the packing, resulting in damaged objects. Very poor communication to allow customer tracking the moving: CA loading date- then reasonable estimation of arrival date to destination, NY. Upon arrival the alleged subcontractor showed up totally unprepared, complete lack of professionality (broken English, but unfamiliar Turkish language- speaking driver, and his underage son, were the solely crew to unload the 8 wheeler truck, which included an upright piano!; truck was not equipped with unloading ramp); we had to force ourselves in order for the driver to call for extra help to complete the unloading timely and safely); almost every piece of furniture was cracked, chipped, or broken; misrouted items or stolen accounts for missing personal objects?; many dirty and already used moving boxes were used for packing, which ended up arriving broken- open. The final leg to NY was done with a U-Haul truck that was malfunctioning, dead battery, my husband had to help in calling for mechanic help, since driver unable to speak English. To our dismay witnessing powerlessly the personal property damage and appalling service of this company, we haven't yet heard from them, despite our protests and detailed written claims. The salesman representative, only contact link we have to this company, Al Williams, has disappeared in total lack of accountability, despite multiple requests for his manager's name and phone number. The Claims Department we have been referred to, does not seem to exist given not a single email response to our multiple attempts to reach them. The moving was completed October 1st. Unfortunately outraged and helpless feelings has been the result of our moving experience with "CalState Moving and Storage". The approximate cost of service was $8,000.00, half of it required to be paid in cash to truck driver in order for our stuff to be unloaded. So we did. We are a middle age retired couple, senior adults.

Last month we moved our 3 year old apartment to our newly build home. One of the main difficulty was moving our $1500 kitchen reno safely. Some high cost items there. My office staff said about CalState moving company when I needed a professional service. Their moving team in morning with their truck and we talked about a fair service fee. We both satisfied with it and they start to pack everything to their truck.moving process was very professional and all items handled with care. With their good work, we got moved all our items with zero damage .I like to use their service again and very happy to talked about them here.

Wonderfully. They arrived when they said they would on extremely short notice and made the transition very smooth for me and my business partner. I didn't have to lift anything and they packaged our office computers perfectly.

Used these guys after a recommendation from a friend, I've had to move a few times now and I feel like I've had a pretty wide variety of experiences with moving companies but these guys are definitely what I was wanting. Customer service was great (willing to put in more effort than just the standard "getting by") and I had a great convo with Alex, make sure to ask for him and Sergei, I forget the other guy's name that came. They were in and out quickly and they finished the job in the allotted time, as specified. Would definitely use them if I needed to.

I've hired out work from many moving companies in the past but CalState Moving Co has by far provided me with the best experience. Excellent communication, professional service and everything was exactly as promised--every step of the way. I really can't compliment this company enough. From start to finish Levin and his team provided me with a far superior experience than most other moving companies I've worked with--and at a MUCH better price too. I would recommend these guys to anyone I know, family and friends included, that need a moving company/service, and I look forward to using them again in the future!

I have used CalState moving two times and members of my family have also used them based on my recommendation. They are incredibly professional and efficient. Every time that I have used them, the move has gone quicker than expected and the crew is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. The whole process is so smooth and they always call ahead of time to answer any questions and to confirm. Once again, so happy with their service.!

I found these guys through a friend of mine that did business with them a few months ago and decided to give them a call and explain my situation and the amount of stuff i needed moved and since they couldn't give me estimates over the phone , they guy showed up. I told him that i had most stuffed packed but i had a lot of big stuff that would be the main thing here and i needed it done within a few days and i even had a small boat that i needed moved as well and after talking with him for about 1hr or so we both were satisfied and agreed to move forward and the next day the move was on, they came well prepared, 2 trucks with about 8 guys and man it went so great, 1 truck was for the small stuff and the other for the big stuff . They took great care of everything and nothing was damaged at all and in the end they had everything at my new home and even helped me organize my stuff..and since the price was so great , i had no problem giving them a bit extra for the great work they done. They were excellent. They carefully moved and wrapped all of my items making sure that nothing was lost or damaged in the move. I went with CalState as their rates were better than other movers I looked into. Customer Service was friendly and helpful going over prices .Lead movers were friendly and courteous. I have several pricey items , paintings a wardrobe and a baby grand I inherited from my grandmother, and I was very concerned about damage. The movers were great and very professional, worth every penny. They packed everything beautifully, no damage to any of my belongings. Great job!

Movers from CalState were amazing. Arrived right on time, they were so friendly and professional! All my stuff was packed and unpacked really quickly with necessary care. It's true worry free experience which I honestly didn't expect. Final price was almost like the initial quote. I recommend to all my friends and everyone. <br>

I used.CalState Moving couple months ago. I used them only one time for the one move. They charge hourly. They were good. They did not damage anything. They were careful with the furniture and they did not ask for any extra fees. They were professional.
