We got a few other quotes for this project but chose Camps (Campos Construction, LLC) due to the three year warranty that he included in our contract. He said our wall would be completed in about a month and a half; however, it took more than twice that amount of time. Nevertheless, that was not of concern. What was of concern was the fact Mr. Campos rarely came to the job site to oversee his workman (or workmen depending on the day) or check on his/their procedure(s) or progress. More than once I had to call Mr. Campos and text photos because the workman/men were not following the VersaLok guidelines for installation. He would occasionally come look or just verbally direct them to re-do whatever steps they had omitted or done poorly. When laying the foundation aggregate they would sometimes use a backhoe and when that was not available they would use shovels and a wheelbarrow. Most of the aggregate was done via backhoe; however, the day they did the south side they were using shovels and a wheelbarrow. This could possibly be because of the tight nature of the fence on that side, or because they needed the backhoe for another project, but for whatever reason the two guys used shovels and a wheelbarrow that day. They took turns going up the steep hill to the aggregate pile, shoveling a load of aggregate into the wheelbarrow, and going back down again. VersaLok guidelines state you are to fill and compact 12" of aggregate. When I checked progress the day they did the south wall I could see the aggregate was so thin you could still see soil, some places only received a scant scattering of aggregate. I called Mr. Campos, text him pics, and he said would direct the workman/men to correct that. I was unable to confirm if they had done as he directed because the next evening several rows of stone were already laid in place. Sadly the evidence speaks for itself as the wall on the south side began deteriorating with large zigzag separations in the stones by the end of the first year. The separation/cracks are getting wider as well as extending around the curve of the wall, increasing in size and number as time passes. When the wall was first completed the VersaLok stones were end to end as they should be. Also of note is two years out from the project you can see several corners that were broken off throughout the entirety of wall and glued in place with the adhesive they were using. This was not noticeable at the time of completion but now we have corner pieces of stone on the ground and broken corners on the fascia of the stone with adhesive residue. I tried to call Mr. Campos several times the end of the first year but was never able to get an answer. I finally sent Mr. Campos a certified letter dated October 12, 2019, which he ignored. I returned to calling numerous, numerous times and he finally did answer one day, November 24, 2020. We scheduled an appointment for him to come look at the problem on November 25, 2020, at 1 p.m., but he never showed. I have tried calling several times since then to no avail. I’ve contacted the BBB and they said he is not responding. My warranty runs out this year. I would not, and have not, recommend Campos Construction to anyone.

Went great. they were done in about 3 or 4 days. They cleaned up everything and built the wall right. The stacked stone the re-attached to the wall looked a lot better than the original wall. It's been almost 2 years now and we have been through a couple of very heavy and prolonged rain events and the wall is still good. I decided to do this review because I was on this website and looking to have them do another job for me.

Originally, the bids I had received from others were quite high, around 38000 to 28000, and he came in around 17000. Since his bid was so much lower, I was able to add quite a bit to the original project. They were friendly, courteous, easy to work with, and they did an excellent job. The thing I really liked about them was their communication skills. If something came up that was questioned, they brought it to our attention to make sure we got exactly what we wanted.

I will definitely be using them again in the future. The firm went above and beyond my expectations.

They finished the job quickly. They had 3 employees for the install. It took them about 2 and a half days to do the job. They had to remove the existing railroad tie wall. They gave me an estimate before they started the work, and the end cost matched the initial estimate. This was my first time using them, and would recommend them to anyone!

Camps were more prompt with their estimate and the estimate was about 1/3 less than the others. They broke up all old concrete in the garage and poured new concrete there and new front sidewalks and new front porch as well as pour a new back patio. They also bid quickly and came in less than others on the 2 round rail fencing around the house. They started and finished promptly and it looks great. They are currently remodeling our master bath and same thing. Prompt service, providing advice and alternatives to get the look that we want. Have received the estimate for flooring in most of house and is also going to be less than others. I trust our contractor, Junior, and his men have been polite and clean up their work area as they go.
