I did not purchase the work through Angie’s List but I did learn about him from Angie’s List. He was a B rated contractor at the time; several A rated contractors had not returned my calls so I hired him. He was running a drywall special but it did not apply to me so I entered into a written contract to remodel a bathroom. The work to be done was to drywall and/or finish the walls and ceiling in an approximately 5 foot by 7.5 foot bathroom, install a glue on wall panel system in the shower area, and install two grab bars in the shower area. In addition the contractor is to install a tile floor. I was to provide finish materials, which I had on hand, and the contractor was to provide rough materials. We also agreed separately, verbally, that he was to install a sink and vanity, medicine cabinet, two other wall cabinets, and a toilet. The contractor was to begin on Saturday November 19, and complete the work within 5 to 7 work days. He actually began Sunday, November 20, when he worked a half day, and Wednesday evening, the day before Thanksgiving, when he worked about 3 hours. The contractor apparently works weekends and evenings but does not seem to follow any particular schedule as far as time of the day. The contractor made several appointments, in excess of 10, many for which he did not show. For those few that he did show he was several hours late. Note that I was available daily from the original agreed starting date of November 19, 2016, a Saturday, up to and including Sunday, November 27th. Had he completed the work in the original time frame I would have been available without missing any work myself. After that I was available only in the evenings, Fridays, and weekends until the last two weeks in December, which I took off work for Christmas guests. I had expected the work to be completed long before they (6 in all) arrived. Since the work was not done, I did tell him that he could work with them here, but he continued to set up appointments and then not show for them. Also note that I told the contractor at the beginning that I have company coming for all December beginning the middle of December. My son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter would be coming in from Sweden, my daughter-in-law’s mother would be coming from Canada, and my daughter and her mother were coming from Florida. Due to the contractor’s failure to perform within any reasonable time frame, and in fact not completing the project, all of us had to use a master bathroom, which meant going through the bedroom to use the bathroom and shower. On December 19th he abandoned the uncompleted job. I am sure of the date because he called his crew off while they were painting the walls, and I had the plumber scheduled for the next day. Had he completed the painting we could have used the bathroom at least partially but it is all taped up with the sink covered with plastic drop cloth. I formally dismissed him during the first week of January. We came to a dollar settlement for the work he actually did. The contractor had a string of excuses, any individual one which, if valid, might justify an occasional delay; however, taken all together they are preposterous. It is a simple matter of unbusinesslike and downright inexcusable irresponsibility. I would recommend that no one, under any circumstances, engage this contractor. However, the work he did do is competent. He is very personable and a smooth talker, so if he does convince you to engage him, have written time frames with dollar penalties for non-performance without regard to fault or excuse. In addition he asks for half down; don’t give him a penny until the work is satisfactorily completed. As there are many conscientious contractors who do good work, and do it completely and on time, you will be much better to seek them out rather than even contact this contractor. Why take the chance that you will be subject to the grief and stress he put me through regardless of any dollar penalties. My guests and I accommodated, as we had another bathroom, but we shouldn’t have to. My needs were made clear to him at the beginning and he took the work and a down payment. Remodeling is always stressful, but this has been truly a horrible experience. I reached a settlement for the work performed but only because I wanted this man out of my life. If any Angie’s List member avoids him because of this review they have probably received the lifetime value for their membership in that one incident of avoiding a possible disaster.

It didn't. I had an initial contact call, called back to schedule, was told there were issues with the computer system, never heard from them again. I sent an email fairly recently and still no contact. I wish I had requested a cash refund.

I bought the deal form Anigie's list. I made arrangments for Ken to arrive on July 12. The 12th came and I received a phone call letting me know that he could not come. He gave me a date in august. I let him know that I could not wait, so he then gave me July 25th. The 25th came, no Ken and no call. I reached out and Ken said he was sorry but he was over booked and could not get to me until late august or September. I tried to get a refund, but angie's list said I was past the 30 days for a refund and needed to use the 1500 spent on other deals. Not very happy since I did not find out about Ken's inability to get work done in time frame I needed until 2 months past purchase date. If Ken would have been honest up front I would have canceled earlier. No resolution from Anigie's list. Received an email letting me know of no refund, but my call to Mr Stoner has gone unanswered. I scramble to find a person to get work done. Shame that Angie's list advertises that it is a better way to hire since there are reviews, but they leave you hanging just like the unscrupulous contractors.

Very well. I really admire Ken because he traveled a long, long way to do this work. He is very thorough and identified a much larger problem than the one I thought I had. Ken does nice work and sincerely tries to help. The only knock I have is that he was 2 hours late to the appointment. In fairness to him, he had to travel at least an hour to get to me and was unfamiliar with the roads, and he did keep in contact. That said, he was late starting the job.

They installed a spring to the closure after refurbishing the closure itself, reinforced the door frame where the closure pins had pulled out of the door frame. They also cleaned some brick that was stained with white around the in and around the street numbers of our house located on the bricks to the left of the storm door, and we did not even solicit them for that. They were great, and I wish every former repair person or contractor that we have used previously were as thorough as they were in the work that they did for us. We will have them back for sure! They arrived at the specified time and gave us a great deal for the money we paid to have the job done correctly!

<p>First, he never showed up.  After two phone calls and a text message, I finally heard from him. He didn't even have the appointment logged and I spoke to him twice about it on the phone. He blamed it on Angie's List Software. He finally showed up 4 1/2 hours later. He spent the first hour looking over my list and looking around the house giving me estimates on other jobs that he wasn't there to do. It took him 2 hours to hang a mirror that ended up being crooked. He then had to go to a local hardware store to get supplies which he should've already had in his truck. Now I have another hole in my wall. </p> <p>Was way over priced and tried charging me an extra $10 an hour.</p> <p>I even gave him dinner.</p> <p>He wanted me to give him a good review but in all honesty, I just can't. It was a total waste of my money and time and I will never use him again and I encourage anyone else out there not to use him either. </p>

It was not good. The time we set up for 2 pm. He said there was a 2 hour window, but he didn't arrive until about 6:30 that evening.They didn't leave my home until about 11:30 pm. He had contacted me to tell me he was stuck in traffic and coming from another job but when we set the appointment, he had told me that he didn't have any other jobs lined up that day. When they did arrive, they sat in my driveway for several minutes talking to family on the phone. I offered to reschedule for his sake, but he was very short with me. So we drove separately to pick out a door and he lightened up. He had problems with my original door frame, however. His son didn't seem to work at all and just had headphones in his ear. I didn't even know that the son was on the payroll doing actual work. I thought he was an apprentice or just following his dad around on the job. I was charged for 2 workers for 2 hours instead of 1 worker for 4 hours. He did the job by porch light. He finished the job around 11 pm. I signed off on everything because I wanted him out of my house. It was really late. It was around 11:30 when he finally left. When I finally inspected the door, there was a huge gap in the top. It was also very loose where the door latched and I told the handyman that. The door does not fit properly in my frame and I'm really upset about it. He did admit that it was a problem on his part. I had purchased a deal from Angie's List for $149 for 4 hours of handyman service. At the end of the day, he had told me that I owed him an extra $250 because it was in fact 2 workers for 2 hours each. So he did cut me a break and charged me an extra $200. So all in all, I was charged $350 to install a screen door. I would not recommend this company at all.

All work done in professional and timely manor. Called back next day to ensure no leaks around the shower. 4 hours of Handyman Service; it was part of a deal posted on Angie's List.

It went great, very Professional workmanship, neat, staff very event tempered.dependable and excellent.

removed old shingles on a small side porch roof and  installed new shingles and tar paper. Job was too small for a Roofing company but not for Ken.

I needed a remodel in an old bathroom that I couldn't get anyone to return my calls on but Ken. Ken installed a five panel shower module and all went well. Sealed a window that is inside the shower.

Ken found a water leak in the downstairs dining room that others couldn't find in 15 years of looking. He found the problem in 5 minutes. Was done in less than a day.

Removed old exterior carpet, fixed old floor boards, and installed AstroTurf.

They were very professional, eager to please, and courteous. We'll be giving them more work in the future.

Ken sold a classic Mercedes-Benz that required some work to bring it up to full operation. Ken remained in contact with me during each phase of the repair. The estimate that he provided was fair and right on the money, thus no surprises. His work is of high quality and his ethic is honest and dependable. I will definitely use CanDoKen&Son to handle some investment properties, particularly floor work, in the very near future. In a time where it is difficult to obtain high quality, professional work and the ethic to go along with it I've hit the jackpot with this company. <br />
