CARIBBEAN POOLS & SPAS

The work started in Sept. They didn,t  finish  until  Feb.  One delay was waiting a couple weeks for an insurance check which wasn't their fault. Unfortunately there were quite a few delays by the company for several weeks at a time. They did a good job removing the old pool, decking and dog area. They cleaned up well.  They did crack the cement dog kennel run severely in 2 places with the big machine. They did repair it so I am satisfied with that. The pool looks good as does the dog run.The cement decking is the problem.  They installed cement decking. When they finished we could not open our back door as the cement was too high. This was a major inconvenience for about a month before they addressed it. Their answer was to cut the door down and put black stripping on the bottom.  We can open the door but it leaves a black stain on our decking. I asked them what to use and they said  Dawn. I did but it didn't help.  They have no answer how to remove this huge stain and basically told us to live with it or have a new door installed. Since they are the ones that caused the problem I feel they should pay to fix it. We had a small crack on the decking.  They asked for final payment. I told Phil I would give it to him except for a small amount till the crack was fixed. He said that was fine and just give him $4000 at that time.  I paid all but a little over $300 which I was holding until the crack was fixed. As of now seven  more cracks have  appeared. When we told them about it they told us it wasn't covered in the warranty. That is ridiculous as the decking is 2 months old. We are worried how much cracking we will have once we actually use the pool. To pay $45,000 and have a deck which has problems is not quality  work.

Phil was very congenial and informative. The job took maybe 40 minutes and he cleaned up the area when completed.

He has a great design sense as well as a true working knowledge of all facets of his profession. We had wanted a pool for three years and just couldn't find the right contractor at the right price. His ideas and computer aided plans were exactly what we wanted (rather than what the salesperson wanted), and he kept our budget in mind while giving us more than we had expected for our dollars. Phil is a perfectionist, which meant that everything had to be perfect - concrete shell, pebble finish, screen enclosure, pavers, and solar heat system. Any time we had a question, he listened and already had the answer. Phil went above and beyond anything we had expected from a contractor, and we would highly recommend him to our friends and family without reservation.

We had no knowledge of Phil Oestreich until he was recommended at a networking group my wife attended. Phil had started a new company, Caribbean Pools & Spas, after years of experience managing the Tampa office of a large company that designs and builds pools, decks and patios. He presented himself well and offered a fair estimate for the work, so we hired him. Phil and his crew did a great job repairing the pool surface and applying a new pebble surface, decorative glass tiles, a new multi-colored light and drain covers.
