Pete did a great job. I called Pete around 5:15 to let him know we were having an issue and the house was 84*. He walked me through a quick checklist to determine the issue. He told me to turn on the fan and turn off the a/c so as to let it thaw out and he would be at my house at 6:45. The system had thawed by the time he arrived and he immediately got to work testing the system. After hooking up his widgets and gadgets, he was able to determine the failure was in the fact I forgot to change the air filter. I removed the air filter and he was right. I have used Pete at 3 other homes and he has always done a fantastic job. Even though it was my fault, he didn't charge me a dime. First class service, first class care, and first class recommendation to Pete and Carolina Cooling!

Peter was very helpful with fixing our recent problem with ac not working. Called him at 5:00pm when I came home to a house temp of 91* and he was there by 7. Replaced our capacitor and guaranteed it would get cold. Sadly it did not get cold. He did come back the next morning replaced the capacitor again, but still wasn't cool so he came back that afternoon, super cleaned our unit, tested it and it started to work! He also set our expectations that if we kept our unit clean and debris free, then it could lower our power bill. Happy with end result and Peter!! Will call again!

solve the problem then. Well, after a few days, it was apparent that the icemaker was still broken. We called the provider and he came over and told us exactly which two components to order (from Sear's, which is where we purchased this fridge only TWO years ago). He told us to call him when the parts came in. We did so and made an appointment for him to come install the parts on Saturday, 11/23/13. We had to defrost our fridge, put everything into a cooler on that Saturday prior to his expected arrival at noon. About 1:00pm when he had not shown, we called him and he acted like he would be busy to come that day. When we pointed out that we had an appointment and that we had taken all of our food out of the fridge, he agreed to come that night. He showed up about 5 or 6 pm. He took off the freezer door, installed the two defroster components and then tried to put the door back on. He was unable to install it properly and one side of the door had a wide gap, requiring it to be taped shut w/duct tape. Provider said he would call us on Monday, 11/25/13 after he got ahold of Sear's tech people to determine how to put the door on. We have NOT heard one word from him. The icemaker is still broken and the duct tape keeps the door shut. Needless to say, we are not impressed with the integrity of this provider. He just left us hanging without a word. AND the icemaker is not fixed.

"Customer had an ice build up on the bottom of a freezer that was blocking air for proper circulation, causing high temp in freezer and effecting ice unit. 1st service call was only $50 for show up fee and no charge for disassembly and diagnostics. A defrost problem was suspected and parts were ordered by customer off of an appliance parts center on the internet. A defrost sensor and a heating element was ordered and the install would take place when parts were delivered. Customer called a few days in advanced and called for the service. On the specified service day, work load was very heavy, and customer was contacted for a later appointment. Customer agreed to the later appointment... At the later appointment, customer watched closely as the defrost sensor and heating element was installed. The door of the freezer had to be removed and, of course, all of the product as well. Customer did have product removed before our arrival. After completion of parts installed, unit was put back into service and was running in a normal fashion. Time could only tell if the problem was solved. Upon completing the work order, technician noticed the bottom freezer door was not closing normally. It had about a half inch gap allowing outside air to penetrate into freezer which can also create ice build up in the freezer section of the unit. Technician showed the customer the problem that was found, and explained closely how that could contribute to ice build up in the freezer section. Technician removed the door 4 times trying to eliminate the problem of penetrating air into the freezer. The customer was adamant that the technician damaged the door upon disassembly in order to install the ordered parts. The technician only removed the door in a professional fashion, and never used brute force or any other abnormal technique in removing the door. Customer was insisting the damage was caused by the technician, and was insinuating that the door would have to be repaired, or replaced, by Carolina Cooling Systems. Upon many attempts to correct the problem with the customer present, the door frame would not shut evenly and the technician advised that the manufacturer should be contacted by the customer for further assistance with the problem. There was no charge to this customer for over 2 hours of service because the problem with the door was not repaired, but all the ordered parts had been installed. The technician also advised the door gap could have gone undetected by both the technicians first visit, and by the customers daily normal use because of location of the gap. The customer was advised this could had easily been the problem from the start and customer would not be charged for labor to install components or to fix the problem once support from manufacturer was contacted. Customer kept insisting technician broke the door in hopes of receiving a new unit at the cost of a company that was trying to help him with a bad situation on a poorly made unit. Bottom line is: Carolina Cooling would have stayed working with the bad unit and the customer, but the accusations of the technician breaking there refrigerator was ridiculous and unfounded, and was obvious that the customer was trying to find a good out for what the customer complained about while the repairs were being made "THIS IS THE MOST EXSPENSIVE APPLIANCE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT" . The customer sat and watched the technician the entire time the unit was being repaired, and they know the technician did nothing abnormal in the door removal. Carolina Cooling Systems does hundred and hundred of repairs and replacement every year and stands by their work, and charges accordingly to all situations, such as this $50 complaint for over 4 hours of work."

Pete is an absolute GREAT guy to work with. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are
a happy and satisfied customer.
Our whole house AC unit was dead (18+ years old) and Pete patiently explained the options never once pushing any models, just simple explanations. After we picked what was best for our house 3 days later he was back with the install crew.
Pete doesn't subcontract his jobs out, he has a great team and is right there with them the whole time.
Due to weather problems installation couldn't be completed in one day, he came back the next day, ON TIME oh and did I mention it was July 4th!! Yes he was so concerned with us having a functioning AC system hehe and his men came back on the holiday for ZERO additional cost.
The installed system is incredible, and comes with 10yr warranties on everything! TEN YEARS!!!
He is one of those contractors that just goes above and beyond for example "Hey we fixed this from your old system, it will save you $25 a month on electric, no worries we were up there and it only took two minutes". those little things are what sets him apart from everyone else.
So don't be shy, CALL HIM, he naturally does preventive maintenance also, GREAT guy! TRUST HIM.
On August, 20, 2011, I joined Angie's list in order to find a reliable appliance repairman because my dishwasher was not working. I had a repairman before who did excellent work, but he was quite busy and usually arrived late. I had called him about the dishwasher and he was supposed to come at 3p.m. on Aug 19. He did not come, did not call, and did not answer his phone when I called him. (also his voice mailbox was full, so I could not leave a message.)
Angie's list gave me the name of Carolina Cooling. They had an A rating and were close to my address. I called to ask if they fixed dishwashers amd what they charged. He said the charge was $49 for the service call, but he could not tell me the total cost until he found out what was wrong. I told him that in addition to the machine not working, the latch handle was broken, which happens frequently, and that I usually buy and install new latches myself. He told me that if I had the latch, he would install it for me without additional charge.
I scheduled an appointment for August 22 and he arrived on time. He brought a younger man with him, a helper, I assume. The helper removed the screws, from the sides of the dishwasher, then tried to pull the machine out and it did not move, so pulled HARDER. One side came out, but not the other. He THEN looked up underneath the counter edge, and discovered another screw on the side that did not move. (I discovered afterward that he had broken the clip that had been holding it in on the other side, but I will talk about that later).
Then Peter (company owner, and crew leader) got down on the floor and tried to discover what could be wrong. After a few minutes he sat in a kitchen chair and made a call on his cell phone. (The person he called turned out to be a competitor/colleague, namely my PREVIOUS REPAIRMAN!) Apparently, he got good advice, because he got the washer running again immediately. I asked him what the problem was and he told me he had to adjust the "float". I then handed him the latch handle, and he spent another 5 minutes installing it. The entire visit took about 35 or 40 minutes, including 8 or 10 minutes on the phone consultation. As his "helper" put the dishwasher in place and put the screws back in, I asked for the price so I could pay him. He said "Oh, $119 ought to do it." I was shocked! That was $70 aove the service call, for a minor adjustment. I wrote a check and made a mental note to go back to the previous repairman, no matter how long it takes him. The ONLY thing Carolina Cooling has going for them is that they arrive on time
. Unfortunately, the story does not end there. The next day, while sweeping my kitchen floor, I discovered a small screw near the dishwasher. I examined the dishwasher and discovered that one of the clips that holds the dishwasher to the underside of the counter was just hanging on top of the machine, and not screwed in. I called Peter and asked him to stop back by and put the screw in. He said he would be there that afteroon (Tuesday Aug 23). He did not come. I waited for him two days until Thursday, and called him again. He again said that he would swing by that afternoon, but did not. I made one last call on Monday (August 29) but did not really expect him to come at all. I finally decided to fix the clip myself. That is when I discovered that the clip was broken (as a result of the helper's "manhandling" the dishwasher when trying to get it out the previous week.) No wonder they would not come back. They KNEW they had broken the clip, and had no intention of replacing it. I am sure the clip can't possibly cost more than a dollar, but I should not have to replace it. THEY broke it

"Member broke her own dishwasher by trying to be a service technician. She stated she was a mechanical engineer in some previous life, and found herself in trouble trying to clean her dishwasher that was not dirty. Her problems were fixed by Carolina Cooling and the unit was working and running , and the handle was installed to her satisfaction. With the service call and repair charges were stated to her, she paid without question or hesitation. If she had a problem with the amount of the service call and the repair fee, she should have spoke up at the time she was paying the invoice. I am a flexible man and would have worked with her. $119 for a service call including diagnosing, installing handle with electronics attached, and correcting the float that Member installed incorrectly, is reasonable and about half of what she would have paid with the big competitors like Sears and Service Magic. The bracket she is referring to was broken by her trying to fix her problem and not knowing what she was doing. She requested another service call to put a screw in the unit that was not there when we arrived. The other service company she refers to is a close competitor that I we with often. We work together, and I asked him what had been done to the unit in the past. This is not uncommon and is good practice to communicate with others that had worked on the unit before. Sorry we could not satisfy Member with her dishwasher needs."

Service call stated price was $89.00 and that was all they wanted but I asked and they installed a new air filter in my whole house air cleaner for no charge so I paid an extra $11.00 for their professionalism. Was very impressed with them as I had Goose Creek HAVC in before installing a whole house air/filter and de-humidifier that they left a cover off. Carolina Cooling discovered this and advised me I had been trying to de-humidify my attic. Stay away from Goose Creek Heating Air Conditioning.
