We bought a house that already had new Castle windows, but it's clear that they were not installed correctly as the large front window in our living room leaks water all over the sill and floor every time it rains. Lifetime, transferable warranty, right? Not so much, because it's nothing but a hassle to get them to honor it. It's been months, about a hundred phone calls and 4-5 different appointments to fix the issue. The latest? They chipped our large front living room picture window and after weeks of trying to get them to come out and replace it, they shattered that window and left the mess for us to clean up, and cracked the new window all the way across from left to right installing the new one. Over a month later, and we still don't have the replacement. We call every few days and it's always the same story, someone is supposed to call us back but never does, so we call again. We were told it would be fixed in two weeks. What a joke. Stay away from Castle Windows, they are the worst. We found out that windows don't crack like that unless there's an issue with the manufacture of the window. So not surprised! Terrible, horrible customer service. Oh, and did I mention they ruined the paint on our house during their many ridiculous attempts to "fix" our issue? We have literally had 4 different "installers" come out over the past 6 months trying to "fix" a leaking window that ended up having to be replaced but now has a huge (possibly dangerous) crack across it. At this point, I am afraid we will never have a good window!

Installation and product quality are definitely A rated. The back office staff, clerical personnel and sales staff are far less satisfactory. Try them anyway. If you can get through their annoyingly incompetent telephone and clerical performance, you will probably be very pleased with your results. Installation guys were really professional and very neat, clean thorough.

Installers were good. Nine years later we had two window panes lose their seal. Called castle and two weeks later they came and repaired windows no questions asked

This was fine. They came in, they did the work and they cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased with them. They weren't cheapest they weren't the most expensive. They guy came in, they gave me a written estimate and the guy showed when he was supposed to and they got done when they were supposed to be done and the price was the same as the estimate.

I have very high standards. Too much caulking used and not enough close fitting/finishing. Specific instructions were not passed on to installer even though I was ensured that my concerns would be.

The salesman was very nice, the windows are of very good quality and the price wasn't bad. But when the installers came they were subcontractors NOT people from Castle as I was told. Out of the 4 or5 workers that were at my home only 1 of them spoke english (barely) which was very frustrating. During the install I had to watch and inspect them putting the windows in because 1 of the workers, instead of using the plastic strips that come with the windows to hide the gaps from the old windows to the new ones, decided to just fill them with clear calking! They had to redo 3 of the windows he installed to hide the gaps. Also the 2 biggest windows they removed they pulled and tugged on them so much to get them out that they cracked the drywall at the seem. I called castle and left a message about the damage but never got a reply. That added an extra $500 to the project to get my walls repaired and painted. Would I hire them again? No I would spend the extra money and hire a contractor that dose the work himself, with his own workers who all take pride in the work they do not just how much they are getting paid for the day. Otherwise your going to spend some of the money you saved on additional repairs. You get what you pay for.

It was wonderful. When we originally signed the contract in June, we were told the windows would be installed around mid-October. They called us in August to say they were ready to be installed! We called them back on a Monday and they were installed that Thursday. We were given an arrival window of 9-11 am and they came at 9:15. They were completed by 3 pm! They did a fantastic job and the windows look wonderful. Our house was put back in order and very clean. The installers and salesman were all extremely professional and the whole experience was wonderful. I would definitely recommend them.

The installers came in and were all business. They have a system that made their work go smoothly. No slackers in this group. No socializing amongst themselves. Just well focused on their jobs and no missed steps or mishaps. The leader of the group was like the conductor of an orchestra. We were very pleased with their work. I highly recommend this company.

We are also very pleased with the quality of the windows. We immediately felt the difference in the temperature in our home. These windows kept out more of the summer heat than our old windows. Hooray!

Somehow, in the line of communication, the separate estimate (including description of window to be cut/installed) did not manifest. A call to Frank Cortes of Castle in Bristol, rectified that and the cost of the additional window was quoted which seemed rather high), and when I verbalized that, it was adjusted downward to a cost that seemed fair and we moved forward. I was told by Castle that they would handle the approval of my window installation with Imagineers, the condo management company. This turned out not to be the case. I had to personally oversee this. Initially, there was a considerable amount of phone calling and emailing that took place to get everyone 'on the same page' relevant to the building permit and the architectural drawing of the new window. Never having owned a condo before, it was a huge learning process for me. There were many twists and turns and at times I was ready to throw in the proverbial towel; but, thanks to the intervention of a wonderful consultant here in Glastonbury who stepped in and took over the reins at the last moment, the proper/necessary information on the actual construction of the new window was accomplished, the building permit achieved, approval from the management company and the condo association board was granted, and a date was set for the install. On the day of the install, a crew of three men arrived. They were extremely well trained, courteous, and respectful of my home. Protective coverings were laid down wherever they were working. They were an impressive team who chattered easily amongst themselves and the install was seamless. The lead installer, Victor, answered any questions I had and made me feel very comfortable that all would go well. His workmanship was impeccable. The cutting into the wall in the bedroom was done with complete attention to detail and the finished product was perfection! It was a long day but worth every single minute. When they were finished, the yard surrounding my condo was strewn with debris that completely disappeared before they departed. I can honestly say that from start to finish, the window installers were nothing less than completely professional. My dealings with Mike at (headquarters?) in New Jersey were always addressed promptly and professionally. There may have been one or two minor glitches, but were more to do with communication and were always resolved. In summary: I have only great things to say about Castle Windows. Do I think I may have spent less with another company? Possibly. But, in hindsight, I do not regret my choice, and I would highly recommend: the company, the employees.....and the product! Class A quality all the way around.

Response from Castle "The Window People"
"Thank you for providing your comments on this concern. We just spoke with Mr. {Member's name removed} who was a very nice gentleman. He explained that he thought he was having a problem with his garden window crank mechanism, but he was unaware of the total scope of movement of the cranes and that the Windows have been operating fine. He was unaware that Mrs. {Member's name removed} had placed a complaint on Angie's list. We trust that everything is up to par and the client is satisfied. Please let us know if there's anything else that we can do in order to resolve your concerns. If there are no additional concerns, please reflect that as well so that we can have this closed out."

We are still in shock that this very huge job came off without a hitch. The crew was promptly on time and ready to work. When they opened up the back of this large truck, the back was loaded with carefully wrapped windows and doors all the way packed full. What a sight! They knew exactly what they were supposed to do and did the work without hesitation. This group of men, are skilled and experienced in this type of work. These people were organized, and worked at the perfect pace. They finished in 1 day, but were ready to take up 2 days, which they didn't need. The workers were here from 9:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and didn't stop working because it got dark. During that entire work day, they took approximately 15 to 20 minutes to eat lunch in their truck. I've never seen ANYTHING like it. This bunch of guys were constantly working. While they were working, I would see them taking a minute or two just staring at the windows, to see if everything was right. I have seen these window jobs before on other houses being built, and it certainly could become your worst nightmare. We wouldn't even consider using ANY other company for this type of work. The windows were measured to perfection, and when you see that snug fit of perfection, it's just such a big relief. We were called at every step of the way for confirmations and appointments that were always on time and very pleasant. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I have no stake in this company whatsoever and didn't know them from Adam. We had called for appointments, sat down for hours with 3 other window companies before we chose Castle, and were not satisfied with any of the others we had here. Like many companies, they are out to get your business. That would be fine, but we dealt with pushy, and sometimes defiant salespeople and I can tell you for sure, that they pushed us right out of choosing them. I guess they couldn't be too concerned though, because it has been 2 months since I've heard back from any of them, promising the world like they did in person. Each of the companies that we did not pick, kind of knew we weren't that thrilled with their attitudes, or the quality of the products which were windows and doors. All 3 of the representatives, bad mouthed the other companies, which wasn't necessary. The written estimates that we were given were all way overpriced by the thousands, for less quality and less products. When it came down to pricing, the salesmen had plenty of room to bring the prices down from the guy that offered us $36,000 for just windows. Another company gave us a price of approximately $46,000 for both windows and doors. The one that gave us a $31,000 price, the windows are doors were not good quality, when he showed us the samples. This gigantic window installation job turned out WAY BETTER THAN WE EXPECTED. I know certain people have different experiences with the services they choose, but for these windows being a $28,000 dollar purchase, we are just thrilled with the quality and beauty of these windows. EVERYTHING WAS TO PERFECTION. WE ARE GIVING THEM A 100% RATING, AND THE GOLD STAR AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN CRAFTSMANSHIP. Thank you so much Castle Windows, you have really transformed our home into something that we think is BEAUTIFUL, and that we can be very proud of! I have already recommended Castle Windows to some very influential money people with extremely large and beautiful homes, because I expect this company to do the same for them. I'm not afraid anymore though, I know they will do their installation right! INCIDENTALLY, ALL OF THE WINDOWS & DOORS WE INSPECTED WERE HANDLED WITH CARE. NOTHING WAS DAMAGED HERE AT ALL IN THE HOUSE. THE CLEAN-UP WAS INCREDIBLE, EVERYTHING WAS VACUUMED AND WIPED DOWN. The windows were cleaned in the dark with sparkling results. Honestly, we have NEVER seen a crew work so hard. Again, thanks to your company, NOW everything is stress-free!
