At first OK. He had one man and a helper do the framing and put up the wall board. They did a pretty good job. Then he started to get mad when when didn't like the way he did the fire place and storage shelves in a closet. Every time we disagreed with him, he would yell "Are you calling me a liar?" Then he packed up his tools, took the three doors and a vanity he bought with money we gave him and left. He hasn't been back since. He won't return phone calls or texts. He is a real con man. At this point, I wouldn't hire him to add an addition to a doghouse. His diatribe about making his clients happy is a lie. He ripped me off for about $15,000 and yelled at my wife to the point she called me on the phone crying. He is very unprofessional, and I think his contractors license should be revoked. I can't believe Angi even has him listed. Do not hire Carl Powell and C&C Construction Company, or you will regret it. I sure do.

My sister entered our information on Angie’s List, advising we were looking for someone to build our house, after we lost the contractor we had lined up. Carl Powell saw our inquiry on Angies List, and contacted me. After he came to review the work site, we hired him on March 3, 2021. He required 40% down, and we gave him $98,000. His two-man crew placed the sill plate on the existing foundation, and completed a partial beam for the floor support. On 7/13/21, he packed up his equipment and trailer, saying he had a job to finish to avoid being sued. He said he’d be back in nine days to “get your retirement home done”. On the ninth day, after no contact, no show, we met with an attorney. The attorney called Carl Powell, and Carl stated he would be back on our site in 7-10 days. We have not seen Carl since 7/13/21, and he has not returned our calls. We filed a suit against him, and he failed to show in court. We know of one other person who has settled, through mediation, with Carl Powell. Others have stated they have filed suits against him, but he fails to appear in court. It has been six months since Carl Powell was hired, and nearly two months since he left the work site. He presents himself as a God fearing man, but uses that to gain trust. In addition, the end of May, he picked up the doors and windows we ordered, in January (we had hired a different contractor who backed out due to COVID illness), when they came in, and told us he would bring them to our site, when he brought his trailer. Then, he started telling us he would need to charge us for storing them (they, apparently, we’re not in his trailer). He was told to bring them here, and we could store them here. He never brought them, and still has them, or has gotten rid of them.

"Well to begin with when we 1st got there a 3rd I noticed the block had not been poured solid nor was there rebar in any of it and also there were no lennals across the door or the window in the basement And I'm sorry but you Cannot use building materis just building material that you are supposed to use just because there'[Member Information Removed] not as there'[Member Information Removed] not going to be an inspection and they are coached to build by and is an esthetic tomb when it is a matter of laugh or death and when a home falls off of its foundation and the owners are in it that can happen Also there were no pears in the center of the house to carry the floor system that was going to support the home So for the 1st 2 weeks we were digging footers footers andIs getting the rest of the blocked man'[Member Information Removed] job done so we could begin to build the homeAnd then after that everything just started on a downward spiral because she started letting her brother make the decisions that I should have been making.. My response to that is she should have had her brother build the house but he didn't have time to do that and also they were 3 other contractors that ended up canceling all these people for the same reasons I'm telling now and I can get their statement if I they're statement if I need it and if this doesn't get took down I'll we'll get their statement and have it put on my website.. The ground was not perked therefore Thor the footers could just fall out from underneath the home I don't know How well they packed the dirt when they dug them because it was at least 70% field dirt the home was being built on there'[Member Information Removed] just numerous building code Violations that I didn't want to put my name on that build And the homeowners was unwilling to work with me in any way they said they couldn't afford this and couldn't afford that but yet they stayed on the road taking vacation after vacation but ybut yet they still owed me money but because you cannot build a $300000 home forward $97000 that they gave me that barely barely paid for is paid for some of the material the material caused alone What'[Member Information Removed] over a $100000 to build the home But every time We needed to change something they would say they couldn't afford it and then the following week they'd be gone for 12 to 14 days on a vacation.. My motel bill alone down there was almost $10,000.00 in the short time I was down there We should have been farther along I do agree with that but the only way we could Have been as if the Mason would have laid the block up for the peers for us to put our beam in the home because that took almost 2 weeks for us to dig them out get everything situated take the equipment back it'[Member Information Removed] like the equipment back and then we was getting started but either way I'm just glad that it'[Member Information Removed] over . I'm sorry that they feel I owe them money but I yeah well then money but I can't provide them with receipts for every dime of that money And I do plan on sending them copies of the receipts for everything.. It'[Member Information Removed] like I said though you cannot build a $50300 home with $97000 I'm sorry I think I've already said it just material was a 130,000.00.. I just wish I would have talked to the other contractors that had bailed out on them prior to signing the agreement with them Then I would have known what I was getting into.. I guess there'[Member Information Removed] only one last thing to say is that there'[Member Information Removed] not enough It'[Member Information Removed] space for me to tell everything and every problem on that property So I just hit a few of the highlights.."
