It isn't often that one gets more than he paid for, but in this case, I can only say that Tom Nevits went out of his way to provide just that kind of bargain. Tom is the owner of Certified Craftsmen of NE Ohio, and is exactly that, a true craftsman. He can do it all, but his specialty is carpentry, which proved fortunate for me, since all the aforementioned projects required carpentry expertise. In each case, Tom did an excellent job either fixing, or restoring, things that had long bedeviled me, owner of an almost 60-year old dwelling. He made short work fixing a warped furring strip on an exterior door. He caulked it well to prevent moisture inflitration, which had caused the problem in the first place. Next, he realigned our bathroom linen cabinet to its adjacent vanity counter top, a problem he resolved using a single wood screw. Other contractors estimated it would take hundreds of dollars to fix that very same problem. The final two jobs required more effort, but Tom was up to the task. He replaced a badly damaged trim board that had been gnawed
by our dog when still a puppy, and installed a new one in its place. He also got a balky pocket door, which had never worked properly since we moved in, to operate smoothly. That repair wasn't even among the ones he agreed to fix! He simply did it as a courtesy. In fact, one previous contractor stated he wasn't even willing to work on this type of door, which Tom fixed for free in approximately fifteen minutes, because they present such a formidable challenge. In total, these repairs exceeded the two hour time limit in his Angie's List offer, but Tom did not charge any extra money, except $14 to buy the wood he needed to repair the jamb, which he actually drove to the store and purchased for me! Tom cheerfully knocked all these jobs out in a friendly and courteous manner. I was very grateful, because not only did he repair things that had bothered me for years, he literally saved me hundreds of dollars in the process. Tom is a savvy contractor, with more than 20 years experience in the home repair business. As I stated, his specialty is carpentry, but I would trust his professionalism to tackle just about any basic job. He promptly answered my calls and e-mails, he was professional, and personable, and most important, he provided top-notch work at a more than reasonable charge. I'm glad I found Tom Nevits, and I truly would not hesitate to contact him in the future for any other home repair projects I might need done.
