Tech found and corrected the problem within 1 minute (excellent). Would have been very happy to pay the quoted fee of $70 for the service call. But tech then proceeded to criticize the equipment of the doors claiming they were underpowered. The openers are 12 years old, and this was the very first problem I had with them, and that was because someone bumped the eye and put it out of alignment. Not so much a repair as an adjustment. Tech also tried to sell me an upgrade kit for $700/door. When I asked about possible tune-up service, he took a can of lube out of the truck (which he said I could buy at Home Depot) and sprayed the tracks on 3 doors. Then the price jumped from $70 to $350 ($150/door with a $30 "discount coupon" for the third). Really would have like it if he had told me before hand how much I would be paying for his 25 minute visit. He did no other service on the doors. I was really pleased how quickly they responded, but company really should advise people before hand re: additional charges, especially that much.

The old unit had a bearing failure and needed to be replaced. The physical installation was quick and professional. The technology side, however, was a failure. We have a SmartThings system, and there was a z-wave controller attached to the opener. The technician did not recognize it and thought it was a surge suppressor. He proceeded to install a LiftMaster garage door opener which is incompatible, even with the added hub, with SmartThings. He didn't ask what the controller was, just assumed it was a surge suppressor (which isn't possible given its configuration and connections). On contacting the company they refused to remove or refund the unsatisfactory system, blaming us for failing to tell the technician what should have been apparent to someone working with such systems on a daily basis. Totally dissatisfied with the company's customer service attitude.

You stated that you and your wife had a miscommunication and she never gave us your “notes” on the smart home technology and how you wanted your new motor to work with it. We cannot meet your expectations or understand your needs unless you communicate them with us. We cannot refund you, as you were in agreement with the motor we were providing and none of this smart home technology was mentioned until you sent an email a week after the install. Our products are not compatible with you home technology. In the future if the manufacture becomes compatible, give us a call and we will come out and see if we can pair the two. Happy Holidays."

I did not receive a written bill and after he left the door periodically would stick. With out a bill and a form of identity to contact them to repair the door I was stuck. Appears to be unprofessional.

It was cheaper to replace the door than to repair damaged panels. Job was done professionally and after waiting about two weeks for the door to come in, quickly. Overall I was pleased with the entire job.

Told the tech that we would think about it and asked him for a detailed quote for the work. said he would sent it by e-mail but it never came. Spent the next hour adjusting the balance of the door and now it works fine. The additional lube that the tech sprayed did help so that's the good side.

Paul the Technician arrived and almost immediately diagnosed the problem. He realigned the tracks, lubricated the moving parts, and most importantly, educated me about garage door maintenance. Amazingly, he was in and out in about 15 minutes. This is my second experience with this company (both times using Angie's List) and both times I was blown away. Well Done!

Certified Garages & Doors LLC was contacted through an Angie's List ad for a garage door tune-up. They came on time, and completed the work efficiently and very quickly. The service technician was very professional and pleasant. He communicated what was wrong with the door, and he explained future maintenance requirements that will keep the door working properly. The door works perfectly and much quieter now that it was serviced.
